The Continuation Of GTA Online...

GTA Online is not just a feature for Grand Theft Auto 5. GTA Online is not GTA 5 Online and never has been, but instead it is its own standalone game. Rockstar Games have stated this multiple times and given the right circumstances we all know that the continuation of GTA online will carry through to GTA 6 and beyond.

There are many rumors that GTA Online will soon become a digital download exclusive, separate from GTA 5.

A popular thought is that GTA Online becoming a Digital Download exclusive will then loosen the game of its

data capability and allow for somewhat infinite content to be added of vast sizes without putting immense quantities of pressure on the system. This would be an excellent strategy from Rockstar Games to make GTA Online carry through

with the ability to sync the game with the next GTA title in the near future.

==========================================================================================

WHAT COULD WE SEE?

If GTA Online was a digital download and was to be separated from GTA 5. We could see many possibilities such as:

- Map expansions of vast scale that can be rendered and loaded separately using loading screens to soften the pressure as well as take the use of Airport fast travel?

- Huge content openings such as: Casino, clubs, fighting arenas, stunt arenas, NASCAR arenas, flight school 2.0, Driving school, bike school, boating school and more.

- Incredible amounts of vehicular storage - many more vehicles added into the game and some exclusive to certain expansions

- Incredible scale lobbies dedicated to good connection (Not prone to connection loss like now)

==========================================================================================

What are your ideas? Do you mind if GTA Online was digital exclusive? GTA online requires an internet connection regardless, this could only benefit the future of GTA Online.

Leave your ideas below!

No, it isn't. Until you can buy a GTAO disc, then it's not standalone by the very definition.

  • Vast scale map expansion - I really don't know what you expect, considering the XBONE and PS4 need to be able to handle it, and they're weak systems.
  • Incredible lobby expansion - Just isn't going to happen.

If rockstar can make gta 5 work on old gen consoles I'm pretty sure they can do it.

Does that mean GTA 4 multiplayer is not actual GTA 4 multiplayer?

The reality is GTA O uses the exact same map as GTA V. Hence its GTA V online. Because the true core of any GTA game has always been the actual world we play in.

The only reason take two markets it as such is for legal issues.

If the game itself becomes separate it better be free to download. Thats all i have to say on the subject. I've already bought the game twice...

What kind of drugs do you take? I'd like to try some

Seriously though (hahaha), I don't think it will ever happen. It's more likely that every future GTA will have something similar to GTA:O, but I'm not sure about it either. From what I remember R* planned to work on the online for a long period of time, which could be either till the next game comes out or could simply become a real standalone game, but even with that I believe most players would move to more "impressive" games

I suppose in this sense, "work" is a subjective term. The limitation wall was hit on LG, and it won't be long before it gets hit on CG, either. Yes, they'll be able to make little adjustments here and there to eke better performance out of the consoles, but all of these radical changes are probably a bit too much.

making gtao a stand-alone game wont make any difference when it comes to "data capability" due to the fact that the same stuff used in sp is used in gtao.

so dont see how being a stand-alone game would improve loading time, allow stuff like casino or map extension to be added or help them increase garage storage.

My guess on how it will happen:

GTA:O is meant to be perpetual. When GTAVI comes out, it will likely essentially "come with" a new version of GTA:O which will add to the other in content, essentially being a transfer. The same way you transfer to next gen/current gen/whatever gen you would transfer to the next form of GTA:O essentially a GTA:O x.x. (I'd call it 3.x, as I consider current gen to be 2.x) If GTAVI is in a different city (my guess is it almost certainly will be, most likely Vice City, perhaps San Fierro and/or Las Venturas instead) then it would include the new map, with some way to travel between cities.* Probably it would effectively be a "supermap" with the two (or possibly later more) cities not able to be crossed between except at certain points.**

*R* has already somewhere between stated and hinted that they plan on eventually expanding GTA:O to more than one location.

** Though I am sure that some people will find a way to breach/blue hell into them without whatever the normal transport method is (I'm guessing the airport, as other forms would require a change to the "clock" of the game.)
