So if we get it, I wounder if the map will be in GTA 5/Online's style? Rather like this:

-pic-

Have you seen NG/PC GTA5 radar map? It's very similar to GTA4's one

Ah, yes. Forgot about that. :p:D

It's not really tiny, have you seen the ingame map of it? We get to see roughly 15% of the map in the two missions it's showcased. The rest of it just has to be created and have things put into it.

I've visited North Yankton via trainer, there is nothing to it besides what you see in the prologue and "Bury the Hatchet." If you go down any of the streets you see in those two missions, you'll make it about a block before you hit an LOD and fall through the world. If you go any further into town past the cemetery, you'll make it about two blocks before you again hit LODs, but those are blocked by an invisible wall.

You are gratuitously underestimating the amount of effort it would take to make a map expansion out of North Yankton.

I wonder if the heart of the Happiness Statue will still be there...

Did you notice the shot in your signature wasn't in the film? (That's not a spoiler btw).

Why would they bother in releasing a SP DLC only few people would buy?

"Only a few people"? What are you basing that assumption on?

People who only play Online won't pay over $30 for some missions and a city we already have been for at least 5 years. And worse if it's SP only.

This thread is running dry, we need fun to give us some more info!

Be patient... you know how long it takes someone to PS an image.

One you're making an assumption that it would only be online or single-player. I believe if it's coming it will be for both.

But let's say it was only coming for single-player, there are a f*ck ton of folks out there that have only played single-player and have been waiting for an update for that.

So I'm still confused as to why you think only a few people would be interested.

SP is boring after you finish it. There's nothing to do.

liberty city is a sh*thole and is just city of depression.

I would rather have Las Venturus, San Fierro or Vice City as an expansion. Perhaps making los santos even bigger, incorporating smaller towns and villages.

I believe they can make the nightlife better as they did in TBOGT before they do map expansions.

If they do map expansions, then they will never improve the former map the focus would be on the new map

Wha...how tha...ugh. I'm quite sure the whole point of adding Liberty City would be to add something to do. Smh

altough i'd love a map expansion,i'd rather have a less populated countryside area, with sh*ttons of off- and on-road capabillities, something like north yankton would be great, even if it wasn't covered in snow...

Probably a lot of people would. But building a whole new city map the size of a Liberty City or Los Santos (HD era, I mean) is literally years of work. I've said all along that an all-new city map as an expansion is a pipe dream. They might do it if they were planning to sell a whole new single player game - i.e. GTA 6 - but not for any other reason. They are never, ever going to add a brand-new San Fierro to GTA Online - not for free, not for $20, probably not even for $60. It wouldn't sell to enough people to make it worth their while.

If it's the same boring, empty city Rockstar gave us 7 years ago and with a forgettable, stupid, over-the-top story, it won't be worth the +$30.

What I mean't is that they already have a map to build off of, the map in the pause screen. The pause screen map tells where all the roads are so they could just put in the roads and then flesh out the environment with hills, buildings and other stuff. Of course the rest of the map is untextured since we don't go there during the story, but they could build the rest of it for the expansion.

It would take effort yes, but it probably takes a good amount of effort as well to make LC Online compatible since it's not like they could just copy-paste it to Online. NY however could be made with Online already in mind so while they're building it, they wouldn't have to worry about compatibility issues.

Is there a map that has Los Santos (just the City) in scale with Liberty City?

From what I remember Liberty City is bigger than Los Santos.

I can't imagine Rockstar just reusing the same map either, I'm hoping they make it bigger.

LC is bigger than LS, but not including Blaine County.

well that depends, they have a lot of employees,

they perhaps have been working on it for year/s or months. Things aren't created over night as me and you agree.

But that doesn't mean they need to tell the community what they are doing -- all down to competition and what is best for business.

Adding a fresh coat of paint... er, textures... to LC would be substantially less work than turning North Yankton into a playable space that was even 3/4 as big. Both would be a ton of work. But there's so little of Yankton that trying to make it into a decent-sized, fully fleshed-out GTA map would be almost like building an entirely new map from scratch. At least with LC, the geometry and collision mapping for the entire map is already there; even if they spend time patching every hole, replacing every texture and updating every dynamic object, that's far less than a good-sized Yankton map would need. Consider that you'd be basically doing all that PLUS building 80-90% of the map from thin air for Yankton, and you will begin to understand the problem. It was simply not meant to be a playable space for the typical GTA free roam experience; they purpose-built only a very small portion of a map, and the rest is smoke and mirrors - the minimum necessary scenery and HUD map to make it seem real.

No, no, you're confused, we're talking about GTA IV, not V!

Cheatz/Trickz

If they are going to add Liberty City to GTAO or GTA V then a GTA IV remaster makes perfect financial sense for a company.

The vast majority of the cost of a remaster would be art assets and redesigning the world. If they are already redesigning the world to include it in V, and they already have a finished updated engine in V then all the remaster entails is the relatively minimal work of porting over the mission data, cut scenes and kinematics which already work with this game engine.

A few million dollars worth of work that is pretty much guaranteed to be made back in sales of the remaster of a game that popular.

NOT releasing IV as a remaster after already redoing all of its assets would be leaving money on the table for a company, a poor financial decision.

Well no, because Liberty City is just one asset, retexturing it would be a relatively simple task, the same way they port car models. It would just be the mesh of LC.

Remastering IV would require a ton of work rewriting code for EVERYTHING, because it's an entire game.

Well if they where to add LC they would also have to:

Make an underwater environment like in GTA 5:

XIToCE1.jpg

Add the bus:

Underwater should be left as it is.

Pretty sure no one is going to bother with that petty sh*t.
