Liberty City sucks. I'd rather have any other city than Liberty City, preferably Vice City.

I'd rather see Vice City get a full game and big map than just an expansion sized city.

To everyone saying "we didn't get casinos, yet" etc...

We also haven't gotten a YETI, yet. There's a shirt and everything. And the shirt seems to be what started these rumors about LC.

Wait a sec... now that I think about it...

New rumor: Yetis coming to GTA:Online.

It's already in, since September 17th, 2013.

In single player.

Happy yet ?

I don't think we'll see one, but it'd be great if we did. Personally, I think Vice City or an older place would be better (because Liberty City has already been seen with good graphics), but it'd still be really good anyway though.

I do think they should work on just generally patching the game up first though - I mean, there's still awful lag, overpowered jets/homing launchers, bad matchmaking, etc. It needs work before they go adding loads more stuff that'll inevitably need fixing too.

I'd welcome it. But it needs some work. Many new buildings in Manhattan since IV came out. Some interiors would be great like the airport. Map itself needs expanding as well.

We're probably get it in GTAO before GTA Next comes.

No snow though because that would just be f*cking stupid.....

I'd love to see San Fierro and Las Venturas first but i would'nt be suprised if Liberty City was the first map extension we got since it's already been built in hi-def and would only need updating to fit in with today's GTAO

This would make a lot of sense, but I have a feeling that when they give us a map expansion, it'll be LC.

1. I'm freaking sick of Liberty City. It was everything I hated about GTA IV; bland, flat, barely anywhere to go, barely anywhere to have fun, and everything was just so grey and... bleh. It all was a depressing mess to go with a depressing story and, I don't know about anyone else, but when I play a GTA game I don't want to feel depressed, I want to have fun and cause some havoc occasionally.

That has got to be one of the stupidest, saddest, most angsty thing I've read in my life. If you're getting depressed from the colors of a video game then chances are you need help. I'm not joking.

And here we go with that childish "everything was grey" "everything looked the same" bullsh*t:

1) IV was set in the fall. New York City gets wet and dark in the fall.

2) New York City is regarded as a concrete jungle so everything is going to be big and tall.

3) It's New York City, it's flat. The f*ck do you want?

4) The building and structure diversity was better than any game out at the time. Today, the only game that has surpassed it is V. So no, not everything was the same. Take a break, stop driving at 200 mph swerving 247 and actually take a look at the city. It wasn't all the same.

And that's the biggest over reaction to a post I've made in a long time.

I'm open to debate the subject, but not with someone who cries foul for stating my opinion.

Firstly, no one is getting actually depressed, it's a figure of speech. The artistic choice was down tempo and "gritty" and I did not like it. The mood didn't fit GTA to me, it fit some other type of game, which I also did not like. BoGT redeemed that though, and it was the DLC that made me like the game overall.

1. I'm well aware what New York looks like in the fall, I lived there, Jersey, and Philly for 10 years. And I can tell you it most certainly doesn't consist of 4 colors. Ever. It was an artistic choice that did not appeal to me.

2. That's cool. For a city. It's not the most exciting thing for a video game. And even then, Red Dead was a ton of flat ground, but they included the outer parts to give great terrain differences and fun things to look at and be part of the environment. New York is more than the city and a knock off Jersey, where as Liberty City is an Island of just buildings.

3. See post above. How about... New York, the state. Which has wonderful terrain outside of Manhattan.

4. Again, for a city or in this case a city builder, that's fine. For GTA IV... It was boring. One interstate, surrounding buildings on buildings, with no real terrain differences, and almost totally straight streets everywhere.

Liberty City was, in my opinion, boring. If you like that experience, that's fine, but I'm not going to debate someone who replies as if I insulted their religion or family.

The main reason they are (supposedly) including LC and not, for example, VC, is because there's not much that needs to be done apart from improving it's textures and some of the models, there's no need of rethinking a brand new city and such, it's already complete they just need to improve it.

They only (supposedly) chose LC because it's easy to include it (or at least the least difficult option).

He sent me a PM shortly after the news broke about the scam. I called him out, that's why he had sent me one.

You can gauge a person's age going by their choice of words and phrases.

He came across as a butthurt 15 year old. "You're being mean." Lol wtf.

Probably explains why he was so easily tricked... allegedly tricked.

And iirc, he didn't report the scam, even after he had figured it out.

To me, from his words and phrases, English isn't his first language. I got more foreigner than underage.

If R* does expand GTA Online to Liberty City,I wonder will it have different peds or are they just going to reuse all the peds from Los Santos. It would be awesome if it would have different peds, including the gangs from GTA 4 (Italian mob,Russian mob,Irish mob,AOD,Uptown Riders,Spanish Lords,North Holland Hustlers,Yardies...).I would also like if it would have all the vehicles from GTA 4 and EFLC too,but I doubt it will unless R* brings them back like they already did with some (Rhapsody,Innovation,Hakuchou,Dukes,Stallion,Blista Compact,Cognoscenti...).

Well first off, I would suggest that people start seeing Online the way Rockstar and Take2 treat it, a product separate from GTA5.

Till now they've added tons of content to Online, some of which could be used in GTA5 but wasn't specifically meant for it, and with the move to only supporting the Enhanced Edition, they've seemed to let that fall by the wayside as well. (nothing from Lowriders or Executives appears in GTA5)

Second I'm looking at my experience in other similar large online worlds, some with lobby like stuff, like some MMO's which have multiple instances of the same map/zone running to regulate the playerbase, and prevent lag.

Those games are constantly adding content as well, and once in a while, a new area, or even a new continent.

So coming from that experience, the way Rockstar and Take2 treat GTA Online, and the mention that they want continuously add to Online, it isn't too much of stretch think that, yes they could, and probably will add new area's to Online, like others have said they've moved everyone who used to work on GTA5 to Online, so that's everyone, all the 3D artists included, now I don't know how many of you know this, but generally speaking a lot of 3D artists have specific jobs, so you've got the people who work on vehicles, people who work on the weapons, people who work on the characters, and you've got people who work on environment, and they often don't work on the stuff of the other teams, so what are those former GTA5 environment artists working on?

Not mention the fact that, game development is very team based, so for instance you've got a team that works on fixing bugs, you've got a team that working on the upcoming DLC, you've got an other team working on the DLC after that already, you might have a separate team working on larger expansions, you might have a team that putting the first bits of code in for a new engine for GTA6, who knows.

So do I see a Liberty City in GTAO's future, yes, very likely yes.

Do I want to see it, yes, because I didn't play GTA4 and I would like see it, but also because, if it's made, then it will probably be the first of several such additions to GTAO, and that probably more important.

Now if they're doing this, why LC first instead of San Fierro or Las Venturas?

Well as other have mentioned LC is already mostly made, it exists within the same engine as GTAO, the RAGE engine, textures would have to be updated or remade to current standards of course, some models would have be either more made defined or remade completely, but it already still exists and that makes it easy to add, and maybe to gauge if the players want such a thing to make it worth the time, effort and money spent, cause if is, then the decision actually create a HD version of San Fierro/Northern San Andreas and/or Las Venturas/whatever state that's in now, would be far easier made, because you have to make those from scratch.

But I would like add that if they add LC to GTAO, then if I was them I'd add some landmass beyond the city proper, like bits of the State of Liberty and bits of the State of Alderney, so that it doesn't sit as an island city in the middle of an empty blue ocean.

I'd rather have San Fierro, or Las Venturas come back to life than LC.

I think they 'hopefully' both will be part of GTA Next. Liberty City could come in the mean time but you'll have to go to LSX or just choose to spawn from there.

Well I actually think this is more likely to happen than it was during last gen. They had the idea of having multiple cities in a game for quite a while now, and seeing as their current focus is GTAO, I doubt this will happen to SP anytime soon.

Dangerous and sad

You know people said we would never get a Hydra and we did

People said we would never get heist and we did

People said we would never get yatch and we did

So if someone is saying we won't get Liberty City, I'll bet the U.S. debt that we will

People said we'll get mansions but we didn't

People said we'll get casinos but we didn't

People said we'll get story mode DLC but we didn't

A lot more other rumours but those are the main ones I can think of right now

It's kind of common sense that the casino is coming in fairness. As is something to do with bahama mamas.

Wait so they can come out with map expansions but not a simple casino?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see new maps and whatnot, however I have to agree with some as LC being a poor choice; the city aspect of Los Santos is the most bland part of the map in V imo. They did say that they would consider expanding the map back when Online was first launched so all in all I wouldn't be surprised. Just hope they give us other maps too

Firstly, no one is getting actually depressed, it's a figure of speech. The artistic choice was down tempo and "gritty" and I did not like it. All of the GTA games have been 'gritty', even the pastel coloured Vice City. V is very dumbed down in terms of what other GTA games were.

IV and it's map is amazing, they nailed the atmosphere perfectly. The BoGT map fixed a lot of the issues with the initial IV map, such as the blurring (IIRC they blamed it on console limitations) keep in mind IV and V were released on the same console. It wasn't so much an artistic choice, they just had no choice, they did what they could at the time and it worked. I think if IV was released at the end of the console generation (like V) then the map would have been double the size of what we had.

Would be great, but the earliest we'll see LC again is GTA VI. Pretty much what Andreas mentioned on page 1 about Rockstar doing every city in one giant game. But I think Las Venturas, and San Fierro are stronger possibilities, as far as map expansions.

A very, very small part of it.

In terms of technical feasibility, updating LC (which already exists in IV with a complete city layout) should be easier than building the rest of Yankton (which I doubt the devs have a complete plan or even concept of).
