Why not? Knowing Rockstar they go either full retard on something or now. TBOGT and TLAD are DLC masterpieces and have set the standard for what a DLC must behold. They can pull it off, again.

Graphically, it looks like it's from the PS2-era compared to current gen.

This tells me you haven't played a PS2 version in a good long while. GTA IV is far, far closer to V graphically than it is to III/VC/SA.

You're quite mistaken; I played Vice City very recently, believe it or not. My point that there was a substantial graphical leap between GTAIV and GTAV. So substantial that it'd be a monumental task to update every texture to the point that it was comparable to the textures in Los Santos that are a decade newer...

 

 

I'm quite surprised by people's optimism here. The current gen barely handles 1 map, there is no way we are getting a map extension.

They call it streaming. They stream only the part of the map your at, in memory on the fly. Size only matters for available diskspace in your console. Serverside I don't know, but it would provably be scalable as well. It's all designed to be a lot bigger.Streaming? R* can't even get Los Santos to run right. And I'd imagine that a good portion of it is physically on your disc/hard drive... It's been 2 years and people still get kicked, entire lobbies get dropped, and we spend minutes in the clouds before getting kicked back to SP. There are still freezes, wall breaches and occasional falls through the map... Do you honestly believe that R* can stream a city in addition to the "physical" that's still pretty damned broken?

You have no idea how this works right? So please... just stop already.

 

And to your info: The PC Version of LC could be ported without any changes and still look okay. Granted, some parts need overhauling and such, but the textures and modelling would work. Also bear in mind that most game developers have a higher quality textures and stuff than in final releases. Do you think game devs took their time and remade all textures for current gen remasters? Yeeeea no.

Also, I can totally see Rockstar re-using the cop models from GTA IV (and possibly the emergency & taxi vehicles)

 

There's already an unused GTA IV ped in the game files, probably as a test
