How to avoid cheater nuisances.

Step 1. Purchase an Xbox One or Playstation 4...

Look, honestly. I love PC gaming, I really do, but all I ever hear about GTA V on PC is how multiplayer is unplayable with modders and script users ruining everyone else's experience.

As someone who owns the game across all three Current gen formats, I'd rather play on PC. True, there's modders about, but they're not that bad. They're sh*t-easy to spot, so I'm out of there and into a new session before any crap goes down. And from personal experience, PC players seem to be far more friendlier. In all my hours playing on PC, I've only encountered one would-be troll. Yet on PS4 & XBone, you can't go one session without having some idiot trying his best to be a bellend.

This topic is meant to report known hacks and how to deal with them, anyway.

Go for it, if you want to contribute.

Whilst giving a list of incorrect assumptions in you OP......

How to avoid cheaters and general nuisances...

Invite only lobby

^ This is the only right answer

I like modders they give money. I never report them.

giving or receiving modded cash is just about the only thing rockstar bans any one for. From what i understand their "anti cheat" system doesn't even look for mods or what is happening in any given lobby. All it looks for is modded cash being spawned into the game and who is taking it. Supposedly people that take it get flagged and when the ban waves come a few random people are banned. Rockstar doesn't want to ban 90% of the turds / cheaters like yourself who make up their customer base.
I don't take modded money but I don't get why people get pissed that others do. Playing the same missions over and over again is boring and the shark cards are expensive. I've spent like $150 on shark cards so yea I have paid my dues to rockstar. I know plenty of people who have taken modded money and weren't banned infact Rockstar said they won't ban those for receiving money they only ban those who give it.

I don't take modded money, but I don't report modders either, I still blame R* and T2 for screwing that up themselves, and so they can deal with the consequences themselves.

On the other hand do expect me to off on you if you start spamming the chat in a lobby with "Is there a hacker here? Can I have Money?" over and over and over, then I'll tell you to get bent and play and earn cash normally like the rest of us.

I do go off on guys who spawn modded money on me, even tho I haven't asked for it and I clearly don't want it, cause they're ruining the way I want to play the game.

And of course I get pissed at guys who do really lame cheats, like speed up hacks in races, like invulnerability, like exploding me from a distance instead of fighting fairly, like exploding everyone in the session repeatedly.

And people wonder why I hang out in Invite Only most of the time.

I think this deserves a topic.

Unfortunately, just after a few days, mod menus, cargoplane wrecks in the city and other scumbag accessories made their comeback in the city.

Rockstar isn't fast enough to hotfix the issue, so let's limit the damage to gameplay experience by ourselves.

We report hacks here and ways to deal with them.

1. Check ranks of players in the lobby. Rank 700+ players are suspicious.

Rank 700+ player are suspicious? Dafuk?

Theres a ton of 700+ ranked players out there. It has nothing to do with anything besides playing alot and winning alot.

On PC, yes, over 700 is suspicious, given that the game has only been out on that platform since April. Yes, people can transfer from the consoles, but it doesn't seem to be that common a thing. Somewhere between 300-400 is about the highest I see within a normal distribution; over that I see as many over 2000 as I do between 700 and 2000, and there's a lot more of those that look goofy (stamina, shooting and driving not maxed for example or the 30+ K/D) than for lower level players. It's not exactly a certain thing though and I won't leave a lobby because of it: Someone with a modded rank account doesn't directly affect me in and of itself.

People who say it's unplayable are either exaggerating or get overly bent out of shape when someone is cheating, and on internet postings about almost anything more people complain than say "eh, this is pretty good but not perfect".

[image of 525 hours of play]

That's all online play, all on PC. I really wish people would stop crying about it, it really is not a big deal.

It's not as big a deal as some people make it out, but it can get annoying, and doubly so if I have to leave session only to find myself on a loop of "Timed out loading session, return to GTA V" for a few minutes.

I see very few cheaters in PVP jobs; free roam and free roam events are more problematic.

And for those who say "What did you expect, PC was always going to be full of cheaters" - my expectations are in general set by other multiplayer PC games, not other GTA games on PC. So it's a little surprising to me how minimal the thought into anticheat seems to have been by Rockstar. In other games I've played, including ones with poor reputations for cheating, the fully blatant major cheats seem to be occasional and usually quickly get bans, and what you have is a community suspicious of others for aimbotting or wall hacks or other forms of cheating more subtle than teleporting, god mode, and blowing up everyone on the server.

I don't have the game on other platforms, but I wouldn't play on other platforms - it doesn't fit my style. For me GTAO competes with other PC multiplayer gamers. And agreed - judging by stories here, PC players are friendlier - ok not always in free roam, but players running each other over and blowing each others cars up in heists and missions? Incredibly rare in my experience. (Stupidity/inexperience on heists with randoms however is universal).

It's annoying to get blown up out of nowhere, or forced from my vehicle, or lose a 'longest freewill' to someone who teleported above the plane flight ceiling. But passive mode and find new session and invite only are all viable solutions depending on what you want to do. I don't see players in jets killing ground targets nearly as much as the people who play consoles describe, and it's extremely rare to find someone in a wall breach - honestly I think most of the people who would do that just go straight to installing a cheat menu instead.

I find it more than playable, but would I like it if they could improve the anticheat substantially? Hell yes. But I'll keep playing in the meantime as it is.
