So let's say I buy a yacht...then what?

I'm trying to justify investing my hard earned money in a yacht. Everything else I buy serves a purpose. I buy a new apartment and I have 10 new spaces to store cars. I buy a new car and I have a fun new ride to drive around in on heists, etc. I buy a new weapon and I can use it on missions. So if were to buy a yacht, what would I do with it?

Have parties.

Enjoy the sunset of the sea

Or simply have one because it's cool to have

Cheap fast travel to almost every point on the coast around the map. Great for getting to Paleto for an event, or back to the city if you're stranded.

If that's not worth it then I don't know what is.

Everyone has always been begging for an apartment with a helipad. Well, now you have one. There are weapons that spawn on board and with the boats and heli, the second most expensive one is not cheap but it could have been a lot worse. Not only was it cheaper than expected, but they could have made the heli and boats expensive add-ons and didn't.

Additionally, hearing the AA cannons taking out a Hydra and seeing what's left of it flying past as you sit in the hot tub? Priceless.

But it costs $25K each time, correct?

Correct, however if you have the money to buy a yacht in the first place, 25k should be chump change. Although, I must say it's always good to have the provision for a quick escape at the ready. Especially if there's a jet flying around killing everyone.

Cheap fast travel at 25k a pop? The maps not that big. Using a yacht to travel to an event at a cost of 25k for a reward of 10k isn't exactly good sense.

There is no logical, practical reason to own a yacht, you either want one or you don't.

Makes a nice spawn point. Never know exactly where you will be but i like that. The biggest advantage is quick access to a helicopter. The helicopter you get is very nice and fast too. There are some other nice perks but those are my favorites.

Even if I had enough cash to make 25K chump change, I still wouldn't think the yacht fast travel would be more convenient than just flying a helicopter to my destination for free.

A reason to use the water.

A place to hang out.

New air and sea vehicles.

A hot tub.

Private & secure bar and vip room.

A new place to spawn in, and on the water.

Public space with optional defence system.

Instant travel to top/bottom/around map.

Bragging rights.

The ability to name something.

Spawn into open freeroam, with instant helicopter access.

I dont know, im just spitballing here.

A shiney?

Yeah I'll stick with teleporting back to the apartment whenever I have a heist ready.

But I like that you can spawn in a yacht and have a helicopter right there.

After reading the GTA Forum for the past couple of days, it seems to me that the main activity of a yacht owner is to come the forums and humblebrag about his/her new yacht by asking how to prevent the peasants and the hoi polloi from climbing onto it.

:p

If you can afford the yacht you can probably afford some fast travel but imo 25k to fast travel somewhere isn't very good. It all adds up. Going to an event in paleto then back is 50k when you can just call in a chopper or car and drive there. It would take more time but only a few minutes and can save heaps of fast travel money.

The only real practical use of it, I think, is to make it your spawn point and easily fly the chopper to wherever you need to go. It'll save you a few minutes here and there. BTW, you can also hide on there with as a VIP, and be pretty hard to kill.

You people are over-thinking this whole yacht thing. If you have plenty of money, you buy the yacht just because you can. You don't worry about the money, or the travel expense. Plain and simple.

I just thought of something...

What if some broke pleb buys a Yacht and one day instead of grinding some missions or heists they decide to get caught up in free roam war, couple T20 and Armoured Kuruma bills, 100K in Ammo etc... They end up not being able to pay the Maintenance for their Yacht, it just Disappears like it's been repo'd.

What else could happen to it? I know if you don't pay for your utility the lights go out in the apartment, mechanic won't deliver cars if you don't pay him.. What about the Yacht?

It would be lame if you just can't do anything on it, the Broke should lose access altogether.

Ahhhh, very interesting. I want to know what happens, but I still have too much money. Maybe some broke person can test it out for us!

You probably just can't go in or move it.
