I suck right?

I've spend most of my time in GTAO doing contact missions and heists, tuning cars and buying clothes or houseswhatever but I never got into deathmatches or killing sprees in free mode. No, I don't have any jets/yachts/missle launchers/tanks/mods/nukes and don't ever plan to buy them. I was never the competitive player and I don't plan to become one.

When I get into firefights, I mostly die. Over and over again sometimes. But I don't care. Not at all. To me, its a game you can sit down and chill to and not some hardcore online shooter. It's still just GTA to me, online or not.

So, do I suck or what? Am I doing it right or wrong?

You're playing the game the way you like. Nothing wrong with that :)

I don't get the obsession over K/D. It's bad enough when FPS players crow on about it. K/D obsession and stat-padding have no place in a GTA game.

My KD is decent (1.82), but KD doesn't matter at all. This isn't CoD, there's far more beyond PvP (like racing and Chrome Adders).

I'm basically the same, my K/D is something like 0.55 and I could care less about it. Missions, heists, car customizing, and buying the new clothes/houses/etc that may come with an update is enough for me. In regards to those who like DM's and combat with other people, more power to them and that's how they see fun in the game, nothing wrong with that. Everyone has their own respectable playing style in Online and what they see as being fun.

People who care about a high K/D ratio in GTAO are missing out on a whole lot of fun IMO. It's hilarious when you can get killed by your crewmate who decided it would be fun to try and fly a titan full of crew mates through a tunnel, and lots of other stuff like that. The way your friends can kill you in this game can be hilariously fun sometimes.

My K/D used to be approximately 2 but after trolling people and killing everyone I started asking myself if that's what I meant for fun, so I created a second "peaceful" character that I use for chilling with guys. My K/D ratio has dropped to 1.50 or 1.30, but I don't care.

Play the game as you want. GTA Online is based on living your own character, almost like a second yourself. If you have fun that shows you're more pro than someone with a high K/D. After all, playing videogames is all about fun, isn't it?

Play every game how you like. Having fun is way more important than high KD. Early in the GTAO experience, My friends and I would kill each other over and over again for the hell of it. At one point, 2 of us got gifted billions long before it was popular. So we would put $9000 bounties on each other, kill the other than give the money to a friend that didnt get the billions. That was way more fun than being concerned with some dumb K/D stat. Although I dont care for a K/D I dont like getting killed over and over and over. I dont mind losing but I hated getting destroyed. Theres no fun in that

I'm rank 491, over $90m legit money, and until last night, my K/D was 0.41. I had literally never tried to kill a player intentionally except if it randomly spawned me into free-mode when it shouldn't have and someone repeatedly killed me when I was afk. However I brought it up to 0.62 in a few hours and could probably get back close to 1 very quickly, but I want to spend that time making money instead, missions/heists/etc. Just because your K/D is low doesn't mean you can't do that, it means you don't care about it...

It's pretty meaningless in this game since it's so easy to pad. So long as you hold your own in missions and heists, you'll be okay.

Misanthrope Z

it's usually the ones who care way too much about their K/D that suck at the game to be honest.

just because they can kill players, doesn't mean they'll be good at races, missions, survivals, heists, etc.

GTA is a sandbox game, not a generic military shooter.

Like already said, K/D is irrelevant. Anybody can have a decent ratio, all you need is an asshole mentality and maybe a few griefer tools.

If I have a kd of 0.1. Is there enything stopping me from killing someone with a kd of 400 five times in a row?

Who's better?

The guy with a high stat, or the guy who killed the guy with a high stat?

There are different styles of play in gta.

You can grind missions/heists, race 24/7, do LTS/DM or do PvP in freeroam.

A KD of .42 does not necessarily mean you suck. It says you are not the best in PvP, thats all. You are probably a better mission-player/racer than others.

K/D is all crap mines 1.48 but im certain a good portion comes from tanks, jets and my overall dickish-ness to those savages in freemode

The problem with k/d ratio is, it doesn't reward you for taking on equally or better skilled players. A k/d ratio of 1, is therefore better than a k/d ratio of 40, as it shows you just aren't targeting scrubs.

EXACTLY. I see people who do nothing play kill themselves immediately after killing another player, every single time and it's just to save their K/D, it's a glitch IMO and should be fixed. Too easy to manipulate and it sure seems awfully dirty to me...

KD doesn't matter, the kids will probably insult you in game for it (if it were a high kd they'd say you have no life, you cant win), but as long as you have fun with it, you're not doing it wrong.

K/D means nothing in this game. I'd be at a 2 if I played more free roam battles. The type of people who care about k/d are the run and gun Call of Duty type player. Most players with a k/d of 3 and over either use jets, god mode glitches or abuse suicide and passive mode. Just have fun and enjoy the game.

I'm almost level 300 and my k/d isn't greater than 0.6. And this is only because deathmatches and traps i like to set on LSC with proximity mines, i still do it and laugh loud everytime, same as hooking noobs cars on cargobob and calling mercs when they're shopping clothes.

I have a 3.41 K/D. My favourite stuff to do is PvP, DMs, LTS, Captures and other forms of killing, but I am a well rounded player also. Pretty damn good Racer, love doing missions and heists and never die or pull some n00b sh*t for the fail and a good overall pilot.

Ask anybody I play with though how many Jet kills they've seen me get...

All ground game.

Just enjoy the game like i do, it's all about fun (even though rockstar don't like that word)

Do what you do best and just get on with it, don't care what other say or do.

K/D is easily manipulated - and therefore not a reliable indicator of skill...

...like every other statistic in GTA - they're just interesting indicators of how you play, not how well you play :)

If you're having fun you're doing it right.

Too right.

Except when it's that kid in the Pogo mask that sends text messages. That's when I like to remind them that my K/D is more than triple theirs.

Almost every person has a kdr less than one. It makes absolutely no difference. I see people with high ones that suck, and some of the best people are well under your ratio of 0.42. Don't even worry about it man.
