Ah, the glory days. Those were the days when most everyone was hungry. Clawing your way to the top was your sole motivation. "The struggle" was the most fun I've ever had online. It seems that a large contingent of this "new" generation of players has no interest in that, and expects everything handed to them yesterday. :/

Despite all the bugs ...and there are many, many of those. This game is a marvel. No arguing that.

It is fun to remember the struggle as a fresh faced kid new to town. Getting gunned down just trying to rob a liquor store, failing "Violent Duct' and thinking my dingy little apt in Chinatown was awesome. All these updates later I want to thank all the lazy scrubs who buy cash cards for funding those updates.

One thing Im happy that got changed was bad sport, back in the early days of GTAO if you blew up a few PVs you were in BS straight away

mmm chocolate

Coveted!!! Haha forgot about that already.

I like what theyve done with the game. My only gripe is that theres some awards that still dont even register, some that are now un finishable, and the stupid general stats bug on xboxone that will never get fixed.

I agree, the misplaced sense of entitlement is strong and extremely boring.

As much as I adore GTAO now, I do feel all nostalgic when I see the original trailer. Discovering Los Santos in V & online back in 2013 are some of my most cherished GTA memories. Great times...

Is that race with the 4 wheedler's and then parachuting even around? I remember trying to find that for ages to no avail.

Just 2 years ago, GTAO was only up for about a few months. At that time, the Adder, and Entity were the top cars for racing/trolling. The Tank was the ultimate Grief tool. Coveted, and Rooftop Rumble v1 were the main money makers along with Survivals. The LSC Exploit was the big thing before getting patched. We also only had one 10 car garage/apartment to store out lovely cars. Things were pretty simple back then. Of course, the chaos of the Billionaire Days changed all that before the Great Money Wipe took place in early January.

Now when you look at GTAO today, it's almost like a completely new game. We have 5 garages now, plus a Yacht. Multiple new cars that blow the Adder out of the water. Tons more military vehicles to kill with. Even the much sought after Heists that a majority people thought would never come. Re-watching the original trailer for GTAO, I guess Rockstar has lived up to their promise of a constant, evolving game environment.

it's actually almost like a semi complete game now.

From a performance perspective, nothing really blows the Adder "out of the water." It has been replaced as the super car of choice because of how old it is, but it is right up there with any other super car in the game in speed and handling.

not sure if troll or ignorant....

I just wish they gave us new missions with each update, and making cheaper in-game items, instead of making it seem more of a cash-card oriented update.

Looking at you, IGG and Executives.

Ive never felt compelled to get a shark card.

...and never will! Just play the game

this changes are thibgs new players dont appreciate.

they dont know the struggle of the early days

well i agree with you when talking about the guns, but further.....bilionaire days for the cheaters and well.....sertain missions were insanely great when talking about payout

potshot, rooftop rumble, coveted(before it was buffed)....

not to mention getting youre stats up with glitches, wall breaches quite unknown....

but yea, overall it improved realy a lot indeed :)

actually it was the other way around... hence why tanks were so dominant, getting in was almost impossible.

then since february 2014, entering is way too easy.

The only issue I still have about this video is how they subtly imply you can customize your air vehicles and sea vehicles. Bullsh*t.

Speed yes, handling no. It doesn't corner anywhere near as well as the T20, Zenny, or Turismo.

Back to OP's point though: yeah the game has changed a ton, and it's amazing. I wish I could teleport me from 2 years ago forward in time for a day to see this version of the game, and watch him flip out. If we got all the updates as a single DLC, people would have lost their minds.

I still reminisce over the first days, selecting the Vapid Stanier for the very first race against dickhead Lamar, going into a liquor store and hearing a girl shouting "get the fookin' money in the bag" through her microphone, hilarious, and just grinding your way up the first 40 levels or so. It was the best.

And that's what GTA online has lost in a way. It's tens of millions of GTA dollars to be anyone special these days, which is all a bit OTT and artificial in comparison to the past.

Wow... That's the first time I've ever seen the Trailer for Online...

What a crock of sh*t Rockstar made that out to be...

Honestly, the most recent Executives update brings the game as close to the original trailer as it may go.

A lot of people imagined and wanted to have lobbies with no friendly fire, since you can clearly see the direction the game has taken sans that option...

But with VIPs and bodyguards, you actually see people going around the map in small groups and either doing their own thing, or duking it out for one objective...

I like it.

Being able to have a group of people without friendly fire or worry of backstabbing (even though it's still sadly possible...) really bring the game's positives out.

Different strokes, bro. AFAIC, I've never felt more invigorated or excited in a game than when I used to spawn into a lobby standing next to my Dinka Blista gripping that newb pistol. It was like being a goldfish in a shark pool. Every session was a fight for survival. I'm getting all misty-eyed.

GTA Online is simply my favourite game of all time so far in existence that I have ever played

(you don't need to know me or my game history, that's just how I feel dawg)

When I think back IN DETAIL how much has actually been added its crazy...I couldn't even begin, I was gonna make a whole thread listing in detail all content added so far but it seemed like more effort than worth...I mean if you think about EVERY SINGLE ITEM or new feature, you can't help but be impressed, those of you that moan and genuinely have a bad time with this game for whatever reason, I feel for you because you are missing out on a great experience, it's a shame you can't enjoy it the way I do and millions of others but oh well I suppose, you can't please everyone

Yeah, I miss those days. The grind was real, which was a lot of fun. These newer players who say 'the game is dead' just don't like the fact they have to put effort to get anywhere with the game, such as getting a yacht

The early days of the day one players. Starting out with Lamar's pistol your character got as a gift, one car, and trying to save up for an apartment with the money from Gerald and Simeon missions. Which you would lose if you got killed by another player because of a glitch. It wasn't until I unlocked the Carbine that things started to turn back around on the low level hunters.

I remember saving like a crazy for my first entity, and only had a 2 car garage on a dirty gas station. Right next to it was a stock sandking for missions. Good ol'days.

Good ole days indeed. I love this game. I just need to fix the matchmaking. And race payouts because I miss racing like I used to. My two issues go hand in hand but like shadow said GTAO is the GOAT

I remember my first property - a 2-car garage in Paleto Bay. Being grieved upon by cowardly randoms ranked at least 100 levels above me. Saving up was difficult until I joined a crew that enjoyed doing missions. I soon began to make money.

Talking of grievers, I loved it when radar blips did not indicate what vehicle one was in. I saved up for a tank, bought one, then spent hours blowing the c*nts up in freemode!
