x1fu5
My system spec: -CPU: AMD FX-6300 @ 4.6 GHz -GPU: HIS R9 380 with the newest AMD Crimson 15.12 driver -RAM: 16 GB -OS: Windows 10 64 bit Hi everyone. Just want to ask for help about this error.. i encountered this problem at multiple times a day. The occurence of this error is very random. Sometimes half hour after starting the GTA V Online all the way up until 3-4 hours. It happen so random that i really dont know what to do. I can left my PC spectating other people all day long and the error will pop-op or even when on mission. what i've done to fix this issue: 1. Reinstall AMD driver using built-in AMD uninstaller. Redownload the newest driver and install. (the moment i did this however, is still on 15.11.1 Crimson Driver) 2. I uninstall the GTA V and deleting the rockstar games folder in the Document. Re-download from steam and install everything from scratch. 3. Downgrade the AMD driver from 15.11.1 crimson to just one step below, which still compatible with the r9 300 series. 4. Uninstall the AMD driver again. But this time, i use DDU. Then install the latest one (15.12) 5. Messing up with in-game settings such changing directx11 to 10 (not even bothered to turn it to 10.1), windowed borderless, vsync on off, lowering the graphics, etc. 6. Downlocking my r9 380 from 990 MHz core clock and 1425 MHz memory clock to 900 and 1200 respectively via Radeon settings. 7. Turning off things like MSI Afterburner, FRAPS, even steam in-game overlay. The only thing that i havent done is reinstalling windows 10, which is a no-no. Im afraid of losing my license. Other than GTA V, my system works perfectly fine. Battlefield 4, Fallout 4, Far Cry 4, The Witcher 3, Meta Gear Solid V, etc etc, you named it all. I really confuse and dont know what to do. LordRaijin
Go to C:\Users\(yourname)\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V right click on settings and open it with the notepad. Scroll down till you see DX_Version value Change change <DX_Version value="2" /> to <DX_Version value="0" /> Also you may want to Google this issue as theirs an overwhelming information that is out there such as this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/271590/discussions/0/611703898452737202/

Still crashed though. Yes i've been googling this for about a week or so and i think i already did every possible fix. edit: i forgot to mentioned about compatibitly.. Yes, i already tried running gta v with windows 7 compatibility and it still crash. Edited December 18, 2015 by x1fu5

x1fu5
finally, i tried to reset PC. I let windows wipe all data in my C folder and restore all settings to its default, hoping to fix everything from scratch. Well, at the first time, the game wont even launch. At soon as it launched, it stopped working immediately. Then, i shutdown my pc without using a fast startup (for a clean shutdown) then boot it back up. The game launched to the Online succesfully and i began to working on heist, etc. In about 7-8 hours after its first launch, i got a blackscreen. My CPU still working (i can hear teamspeak chat during the crash) but my GPU wasn't recovered so there's nothing to do. Im pretty sure my gpu fail with the same exact error (err_gfx_d3d_init). I really run out of ideas as for now.. i already left a couple heist mission just because this error either with friends or strangers. I feel sorry for them (more when we are about to complete the heist at the end) but i cant do anything Edited December 19, 2015 by x1fu5
