What they should do about strangers on yachts

Invite only sessions? I mean, if you want to be kept away from randoms, why not choose the mode that lets you get away from randoms? I mean, there seems to be some issue if you can mercilessly kill a low level, run away to your yacht, snipe him from your impervious fortress and him not being able to do anything.

Also, I don't get how some potty-mouthed sweaty Merryweather guards are better than some guy in passive mode.

I just think you should be able to close the yacht, period. No one gets on board expect me and my friends.

In the mean time it appears that if your yacht spawns in a less populated area you won't be bothered too much. I was out on my yacht for hours and had zero visitors basically because it wasn't in an area players typically frequent;the only person who came close was on a boat but they were getting chased by police so they weren't really there for me.

If you spawn right by the pier you get the most peasants as they get on the jetskis right next to the pier. If you spawn by the airport, you get more planes flying over, which can be dealt with easily by defenses.

Why would I as a stranger even go on your Yacht? That sh*t is boring.

Ask all the peasants who relentlessly tried to swarm mine all day. Those who tried to swim in or jetski in were dealt with by the PDS (Peasant Defense System aka prox mines.) Put a bounty on a few as they were jetskiing in so they wouldn't go passive before the PDS took care of them.

When I'm not on my yacht, I let everyone play with and on it. When I am on my yacht, get the hell off. It's damn near impossible to fend off a group of griefers that land on your boat, especially with the spawn points being where they are.

I see we've reached that point in the thread where people don't read the first page or two and just post the same replies over and over, so... I'm out. Hope you enjoyed my idea. I've submitted it to Rockstar.

This is so ironic.

GTA Online is populated mostly by lonely social misfits who are sad because no one accepts their apartment invites. But when people buy themselves $8M worth of "look at me!" special attention in the form of a yacht, then they get all pissed off when people come to visit them.

I guess it must be the other side of the same social misfit coin ...

Lol, what are you basing this assumption off of? All I hear when I read this is a half baked insult in lieu of an intelligent comment. Not only is this a strawman, but an incredibly weak one.

Yeah, that's all it was meant to be, was a half-baked insult. I wasn't being too serious. That's true of most of my comments, in general. That's why I use my little favorite icon: :p

Although merryweather security guys would be badass, it would be overkill. Like over-the-top overkill. It would be a 1000 times better to just make yachts off the radar zones so every player on them would dissappear. Someone uninvited at your yacht? Just move it and then you're off the hook. Unless they find you again. In which case visit another of the 12 locations. Much less abusive than security service and if required it should probably be toggleable too in case people bitch about that too.

Not sure why there's even an argument. Defending your yacht can be fun, but if you aren't in the mood for that there should be an option to prevent non-invites on the ship. How's this any different than your personal vehicle? The problem is you can't stop passives from getting on your ship even with physical force.

Your suggestion is to spend 25k over and over just to run away from people? How about no?

With an option like cars, don't atack friends+crew members, but Rockstar won't do this because maybe it's too hard, or too OP.

A completely and utterly simple concept that most of even average intelligence can grasp, yet it flies over the head of far too many in this thread.

I actually would love to see a grapling hook now, so I can do some real spec ops sh*t on other peoples yachts. And it would make defending my own a little more exciting.

Also moving the ship doesn't work. Everyone on board comes for the cruise.

No my suggestion is to be able to stay off the radar in a corner of the world no one gives a sh*t about until I'm tired off it and want to change location. I do this mostly once every session which is probably every third hour. And if I recall correctly doesn't the yacht spawn in last location? Because if it does you hardly have to pay anything simply by staying where you are if you enjoy solitude so much. My suggestions would be procopio beach, zancudo shore or mount gordo.

No it spawns randomly across the map. Haven't you seen all the complaining about it?

But if the yacht's defences are up, the randoms can't do anything, can they?

Correct and that is what I have been saying all along, but no one seems to want to listen to it. All they need to do is set yacht defenses to on and set the vehicle access to friends, friends and crew, crew, or no-one and then the random players can not do anything with the vehicles on/at the yacht, can't do anything to the yacht and can't do anything to you when they get on to the yacht.

When the defenses are set to on, players that are on shore can't even do anything to you, or the vehicles on the yacht.

Well, sh*t. Atleast the chances of spawning in a hellhole is 3 to 12. I guess they should revamp the whole thing then. Bugs, disgruntled players and off course the bitching and moaning. Well that won't happen now with r*s head stuck up the ass as usual and being "busy" publishing a new dlc they made months ago.

it only moves if there are three other player's yachts in that area, otherwise it stays the same. I have mine set to Vespucci Beach and only three times has it moved and both times it moved it to the next closest available area (it moved to Los Santos International). When it moves, go into the area where you select to move it look to see if it has the location you had it in selected, because even when mine got moved to Los Santos International it still had Vespucci Beach selected.

Wrong I had my setting to friends on everything and randoms were using my boats, got in my heli and flew off as if the defenses were set to off... so I did some test with a random.

Defenses were on and access set to no one on everything. They couldnt fly the heli or use the boats. They could use the jacuzzi, thats good. They could access the boat from the water and they shouldn't have been able to.

I Didnt move the boat. Made my settings in one session and the changes took place when moving to another. Switching access from no one to everyone worked while in same location, random rode away in a jetski.

Gonna test these setting in 3 other sessions because why not. Will share the deets.

No, piss off. You don't want strangers on your boat, go play in an invite only session.

What's the point buying a yacht then? People need to justify their spend mainly to show off to the peasants who cannot afford one.

It seems now that classism has struck the GTA community after stuff that could express their wealth has been added.

I forgot about that issue. That whole system has been messed up since at least the ill-gotten gains part 2 update, as far as the regular personal vehicles go. I always have mine set to "passengers" and for some reason random players can steal them.

Well if I had a yacht, I would leave it open for the entire lobby. If this game was an MMO, my character would always wake up in an never ending party on a yacht everytime I log in with an array of strangers, good vibes all round.

Ahh well technological limitations...

Like Lester going skinny dipping with 4 unknown strangers.

How about the system just work as it should? If you WANT randoms aboard your ship, you can set it to that and if you only want friends and crew, that should occur.

It's very simple. There is no stupid class war present, except by people that lack common sense and only have a minimal level of intelligence to understand even simple concepts.
