What they should do about strangers on yachts

This idea just occurred to me. Yachts should each have a security detail - NPC goons who walk around and defend the yacht. And if your access is set to exclude strangers, security should attack them, even if they're in passive mode. Problem solved - nobody will be on your boat long with a half dozen Merryweather guys shooting them with their typical pinpoint accuracy. Even if they do run around and survive a while, they'll be bothering you less, and you'll get to be entertained by watching them die.

The same goons could also shoot at anyone inside the invisible defense bubble - people trying to invade by boat or parachute.

EDITED DETAILS - This would be an option you buy separately via Docktease; activate or deactivate via yacht services. The setting for them could be separate from missile defense too: something like attack strangers, attack attackers only, or attack everyone (except the owner).

I generally don't care about random people on my yacht as long as my defense system is up and they don't just go around air thrusting near my character.

Though it is pretty annoying when I'm trying to have a crew party or something and somebody just comes along so I'm all for this idea.

Yeah I mentioned this idea earlier in some other thread, figured said security being up-gradable too, like paying a little extra to upgrade their weapons.

I love that idea.

No, piss off. You don't want strangers on your boat, go play in an invite only session.

Scrubs like you need a lesson in manners. Clearly it would be for anyone who comes near anyone's yacht unannounced.

Aren't you the same guy who complains about people griefing??

I like it but killing players in passive mode? That's just begging for griefers to abuse. Invite everyone on the boat for a good time, guy turns on deadly guards and everyone dies including those that can't defend themselves or don't mean any harm in the first place.

Feels OP got air-thrusted way too many times. He has this guy air-thrusting in his face in the tutorial, during his first trip to LS Customs, during farming Rooftop Rumble, during heists, during Christmas time - he's tired of it! He buys a yacht, hoping to escape this man that's air-thrusting in his face since the launch of GTA:O. He gets on his yacht with a smile with the man no where in sight....he leans down on his chair out in the sun with a drink in hand....he closes his eyes and sighs - ah, peace at last - and opens his eyes....and immediately sees the man air-thrusting in his face.

No seriously, there needs to be sea missiles as well as the existing air missiles. Eventually most people are gonna know not to fly round a yacht so they'll just ride a boat over and it'll defeat the point of the air missiles as they'll just find other ways to grief.

One guy today got pissed that I didn't let him into the interior of my yacht(I never invited him to be on it in the first place) so he kept following me around on land killing me and a friend whenever he had the chance. That is stupid as hell.

There should be deterrents to keep people that aren't welcome on my yacht from boarding.

It's just a game!!

From the thread, it sounds like the one-percenters who own yachts are getting pretty intolerant.

Being a rich f*ck really goes to one's head, I see. :p

I recognise there is a problem of unwanted boarders but having armed security roaming around the yacht defeats the purpose of a relaxing getaway for crew and friends . If the defence system was extended to include the sea surface and could be automatically turned off during Vip missions etc it may solve the problem.

I know we all want to be near the action but being moored so close to shore will always encourage the uninvited, the same is true for mansions with open grounds and pool areas, in apartments we had the simple choice of ignoring requests to enter from strangers ,now they are climbing on the roof or putting stickys on the windows .

Aye, boarders will also shoot something into the air and just make a bunch of distracting noise trying to get attention which is odd and bizarre. Do that on the shore, not up in my face. lol

Just block the rear entrance with invisible wall and a "the owner has restricted the yacht access" message.

Aren't you the same guy who complains about people griefing??He probably became not only jealous but also his panties are in a knot that people can afford a yacht and he can't. So he gets his worst looking outfit and pink colored gun and tries to terrorize the wealthy.

I'm cool with the defense system only attacking aircraft...I like the idea of being able to defend my yacht with a little PVP back and forth. Let's face it, anyone making their way to the yacht via boat only has one point of access and a simple sticky or proximity mine will resolve that. My issue is with the passives that can simply walk on board despite my wishes. The "no fly zone" should be a "no passive" zone. A simple warning as they approach let's them know that passive will be removed if they proceed. Problem solved...mostly. There's still the small issue of people being able to punch and kick you when they are on the yacht and the defenses are up. I'm not sure if it's a glitch or if it only happens sometimes but I've been nearly killed because I couldn't fight back. This definitely needs to change, and soon.

It would also be great if you could simply select a specific player and have them booted from the yacht. Just like your apartment, you should be able to vacate the entire yacht at will. I've had a blast trying to defend my yacht, and I've certainly abused the defense system to weed out those who I don't want on it, but a few tweaks here and there could really eleminate the issue of unwated guests.

It would be a good idea if you had some way of stopping people just swimming over uninvited and enjoying the facilities. Just yesterday I was in passive in some guys hot tub whilst he and his friends fought off invaders.

Or have an npc speedboat that circles your yacht. The passenger has a combat MG and they cannot be killed. People who don't like the idea of a private yacht can fck off.

All of the yacht should be accessible by invite only, not just the cabin. Really annoying the amount of passive players who turn up and won't leave.

If they're not passive, just use the yacht defence system on/off to your advantage. There's no cool-down (I expect there will be eventually as Rockstar like to listen to stupid ideas) so flicking it off and back on in an instant is awesome for getting rid of unwelcome guests, as long as they're not in passive.

What if, you let them onto your boat... and then ship them to Syria in a reverse refugee effort.

Hope they implement it as a service of merryweather.

Good idea. As long as it's optional - I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't appreciate goons walking around their yacht. Maybe a Merryweather service.

Well if I had a yacht, I would leave it open for the entire lobby. If this game was an MMO, my character would always wake up in an never ending party on a yacht everytime I log in with an array of strangers, good vibes all round.

Ahh well technological limitations...
