Considering I expected 20-25 million for a fully upgraded one no, the yachts are not overpriced.

 

As was mentioned earlier, compared to the Deluxe Swift and Luxor they are a bloody steal for the extras and LOLs.

 

It was a smart move by R* not to price them in the 20 million range. The peak prices for the most expensive item seems to be right around a Megalodon Shark Card. If they went 20-30 million, grinding 10 million is much more doable than 25 million. At 25 million, many would say forget it.

Meh. For what you get, they are overpriced (for me). I say that and still bought two (one per character) because honestly I have the funds and there really wasn't anything else I was going to use that on. By my valuation, though, what I got:

1 Heli with limited spawn location. Eh, I'll value that at 1.5 M since that's what a frogger/swift would go for. The champagne/etc in the rear seats has only about 5 minutes of amusement value.

1 Dinghy. decent boat if you're going to use a boat. 0.13 M

4 seasharks. Great value, I don't expect to ever see all 4 in use but whatever. 0.07 M.

The Toro, a pretty but ridiculously overpriced boat with no features relative to the speeder. I'll count this as 0.3M

So about 2M in incidentals, and then the yacht itself.

An apartment with 0 car storage and no heist capabilities in a awkward location, but with good fast-travel (although expensive) around the rim of the map. I don't get bothered by jets often so the air defense isn't all that valuable to me either. IDK how to rate this, given that I spawn in one apartment and only use others for heists (if I want a different location for that stage) and car storage, but not very high. So maybe on the order of a normal high end apartment?

For me, the hot tub and bartender just don't have a lot of sustained entertainment value, but others may have a different opinion.

In the end, enough people have one that it shouldn't be hard to get your fill of spending time on one if you can't afford it yourself, and it's not exactly like it's essential to gameplay, or at least not the gameplay I enjoy. If your idea of competitive gameplay is "look how much expensive stuff I have" then yeah, you're at a disadvantage.

This forum just doesn't understand balance in a video game. No idea why people thought prices like 20 million were too low.

You're one of the very few who think they're overpriced. These yachts are supposed to be expensive- it's something you strive to get. Do you want rockstar to just gift one to you? Play the damn game and you'll make that money quickly. I saved up enough to buy and upgrade one in about three weeks without heists. It's not hard. Just play and stop whining.

 

They're cheap because you can afford them rather quickly if you play heists with the slightest hint of competence.

With all the vehicles you get with the Pisces, the yacht itself with all its amenities and services only costs $1.3million. That's pretty damned cheap. Of course, it would be nice to buy just the yacht, and attach all my existing vehicles to it, but hey ho.

I wouldn't think so, when I saw it was $8,000,000 and I thought it was a decent price, but hen I realized you get vehicles with it, and I thought it was a sweet bundle.

Yachts aren't overpriced and I was surprised they didn't cost more since I was thinking 15 mil. Well, the Aquarius is overpriced if you compare it to the superior Pisces but hey, Rockstar loves to often make the highest priced item be inferior so they can laugh at the suckers who keep buying them just to show off their e-peen. The original top priced Eclipse Towers apartment is a good example of this.

 

I am sure many will buy the yachts and then complain about not using them much and say it was a waste of money but that's on the player rather than the yacht. I love being on my yacht and got into a nice 5 star shootout with the cops while on it yesterday.

Please explain how the Aquarius is inferior. At minimum, it's essentially the same yacht with two extra jet skis and a third deck. If you prefer the new SuperVolito Carbon over the Swift Deluxe (as I do, since I already owned the latter), and the Toro over the Speeder, then it's clearly the better boat. You act like the Pisces is obviously better; at best you could say it's functionally about the same for a million less.

To be honest, 6 to 8 mil for a yacht in this game is quite cheap. We were all expecting 20 to 35 million Base price not including modifications. If you can't afford to buy it, grind.
