Yacht Missile Defense Misconceptions

Hey Everyone,

I'm assuming most of us assumed that when the missile defense system was announced for yachts that that meant actual homing missiles would be shot at the incoming aircraft. Instead what happens is that the aircraft just explodes instead of being shot by visible missiles. I think the intent of this was to act as a barrier to the yacht for uninvited players, much like how you can only enter another players house if invited in. Since the yacht can be accessed without going through a door, this defense system is put in place to compensate for that.

Except it doesn't stop anyone unless they are in aircraft. Also, your own yacht will shoot you down if you are picked up in a merryweather chopper

Yeah, it does'nt appear the Yacht Access and Yacht Vehicle Access are working properly yet... hopefully it gets patched sooner rather than later.

In the interaction menu you can easily define what type of people you want to allow access yacht vehicles and the type of people you want to spawn back on the yacht if they die on the yacht.

 

You probably have it set to 'Everyone' and that's why anyone in the lobby can spawn back on your yacht and take vehicles from it.

So, the defense system won't work against those vehicles when another player has them?.....

......or are players just silly enough to turn their defenses off?

Because the anti-air defense doesn't actually fire a visible missile, & all that is visible are the explosions that miss the target aircraft...

 

Maybe these are supposed to be flak cannons?

LOL. Yeah, a key selling point to the flag ship feature doesn't work properly, we should completely ignore it.
