Just keep grinding.

Listen to music while you play.

Watch TV/Movies/Stand-Up Comedy while you play.

Play with good friends, make some good friends or meet up on GTAF with some good players.

Save money, spend little, waste not. Ammo can break your bank.

Those just a few tips for grinding, at least that's all what I do.

Good luck!

Good Money Making Tactic:

VIP Job: Sightseer, $20,000-$24,000 per play through, very quick if you call for a free Buzzard as transport.

Play a good paying Contact Mission in-between the 10 minute cooldown time of Sightseer.

If you do criminal mastermind make sure you don't do it with a temper problem person, if someone makes one mistake and dies, shrug and continue on. I know people who will rant and rave and cuss and hold a grudge against that person if someone ends up dying, Friendships could be broken this way.  Worse would be during the Pacific Heist finale, imagine that.

Nothing to lose though even if you fail at CM, keep on going, youll still make considerable  money anyways and get practice

So true, I remember I had the same problem with my crew and we were supposedly going for the challenge in the first days and two guys were freaking out at every mistake and I never got that done, but definitely find some people in this forum and it'll be your best option.

luckily I haven't done criminal mastermind yet, planning to do it in holidays (if psn doesn't get taken down again that is)

I started grinding as well, aiming for $10mil. The yacht I want is only $8.9, but I wan't some money leftover.

Criminal Mastermind isn't an option for me. Even if I had a great team, no one can die? Ever? I'm a pretty good player, but that's impossible for me.

That about sums it up but ive only spent 40 dolllars on shark cards and dont plan on wasting real money again.

but waste real time instead?

It shouldn't be too hard. I've saved up to 10 mil multiple times only to lose most of it after big updates. Just keep grinding

Sorry, can't be bothered to read 3 pages after reading how bad the first page is.

You know what, OP? You go! It's your game, your time, do what you want. Plus, I'm also doing that same challenge - we're quite alike. After buying the new Nightshade, I was left with $40,000. I typically hover 1-2mill in case something amazing comes up but with Fallout 4 out I never had time to go back and put my funds back up so the Nightshade just drained me. I thought the Nightshade was just that; amazing. Didn't really like it after all, sold it and then looked at why I play GTA. To waste my time grinding missions just to get money to spend on virtual cars that don't mean much down the line? Pretty much. GTA honestly feels like work except you work the hours you want and decide what your job is. So I decided to do just that; grind to 10mill. But why do that when I just said it feels like work? Setting a goal can make the journey bearable and I plan to use this challenge as an opportunity to grind with friends I haven't spoken in a long time, listen to music and redo my iPod, watch movies I want to watch (because solo missions are pretty much automatic)...there's so much I can do while grinding missions. Sure, I'll join as many freeroam events, VIP challenges/work, races, friend meetups and other money making things but I'll typically grind missions because it's what I know and, weirdly, what I love. Been doing it for so long you tend to love it over time.

So why not just go for the Criminal Mastermind challenge as stated a few times in here? Well, my internet isn't that reliable, to be honest and I can't trust my friends to go through with the challenge due to their skills. "Well find some randoms in the heist thread!"...but they're not my friends. I can always meet new people but I always found it "funny" to meet people for missions and heists. Like meeting a coworker; you meet them and are forced together because you have to work towards a common goal. So yeah, my reluctance to play with randoms and get a straight 10-12 mill is an issue and pretty stupid once I type it out but I don't think I can commit to something like that. I don't think I can meet people, make sure they're all good, make sure that I never die, make sure my internet doesn't go out (not part of the challenge but always hated heists because of that - restarting the setup itself sucks!) and then wait for that moment to show the screen of Criminal Mastermind Challenge done. It's just a lot of work for me - more than just grinding my time away.

I'll be making that same journey as you; to 10mill, but I won't spend it immediately. For once I'll play it smart and wait for savings. Wait until the yacht comes on sale (no matter when that is, may it be in a few months or a year - 1 year is tops but this includes the time it takes to make my money). Average 100K an hour, take 10 hours for 1 mill (8-9 hours, to be precise, due to spare change), get 10 mill in...50-60 hours? Hopefully that's correct. I'll be wasting that time anyway. Might as well waste it doing something beneficial. I've been grinding, when I can, for at least 3 straight nights and I'm a few bucks short of 2mill. I played with old friends, I did missions I haven't done in a long time, I met randoms that I hated, that I loved and I even made a new friend. So don't worry about what others think of your challenge - just go for it! Do it for yourself. Honestly? Making a thread about it just begs for insults and for how you're wasting your time but hopefully you can turn it around and inspire others to make GTA more than a mindless shooter; make it a game to connect with people. Make friends. Make memories. Set yourself goals, no matter how bland or extreme they may be.

Gtao account is only at 1.6mil and i absolutely NEED the yacht! Pacific Standard all day.... Anyone else procrastinate on the grind and f*ck themselves out of the yacht?

If you want to cheat the system, you should know that Mastermind challenge can be done with dying. Just make sure that everyone has mics. If they die, have them yell out "unplug." Then ALL FOUR PEOPLE unplug the xbox cable from the back of the Xbox. Not shut down the xbox. UNPLUG. I just completed the challenge last weekend and it still works. Luckily we only had to do it twice.

I completed criminal mastermind with 2 dudes I'd met the day b4 JUST in time for the update, so it is possible to do with randoms. do a couple missions with em. You can tell fairly quickly if you have a good random group. 1st and foremost, make sure no one has network problems. I promise we spent more time with connection problems than we did the actual challenge.

If you see 1 of them constantly playing around, bumping people with their car, using unnecessary RPGs, DO NOT US THEM FOR THE CHALLENGE. See if they use Karumas and the heist combat suits. Check to see if they like to jump out in front of the enemies (like idiots), and be the hero or if they're safe and stay behind cover. Do they like to sit around and tell everyone what to do like they created the heist or do they listen to advice about strategy. If you like what you see, suggest Criminal Mastermind challenge.

My suggestion, start early friday evening. With Fleece bank, 2 people have to work on one Fleece heist and the other 2 have to work on another Fleece bank. Then you come together for Prison break. If only 1 set of people do Fleece, the other 2 will not get the 10 mill! Play slow and cautiously if there is no time limit. Stay in the karumas whenever it allows. make sure you have a discussion who is good at shooting, free aiming and flying. If they are good at free aiming, put them on all gunned trucks/choppers.

I'd suggest completing Fleece and Prison Break, & Humane Labs on Friday, and Series A and Pacific Standard Saturday. You can split them up even more if you want, but I wouldn't. People may be tempted to go do other heists if U finish the 1 heist early and can't make any money from heists for the rest of the day. That will reset the challenge and there is no incentive to return to help u guys out.

*edit*

if you want to make sure the challenge didn't reset after unplug, go to Stats tab, scroll up until you get to awards (scrolling down will make gta reset when you get to "general" option. they really need to fix that). Then go to awards, then to heists tab. there will be a criminal master mind award and it will give you a number. if it's back to zero for someone, then that means it reset.

1 guy in my group got the CMMC, but not the loyalty & all in order awards/money. Doesn't make sense but it happened. I actually know 2 dudes this happened to, but at least they got their 10 mill.

Make sure all setups are on hard, that you do all setups and heists in order, and with all the same people.

Goals are good OP, just don't burn yourself out. I did 8 million (net gain after expenses) in about 2 months and I still love doing contact missions. Change it up to avoid burnout - add in some heists and this weekend is double money adversary modes. Hunting Pack is fast and fun, definitely doesn't feel grindy.

Good luck and have fun!

Thats retarded. You can just close the game... Why would you unplug the console and risk f*cking it up.

Couple of questions:

Just to confirm...

1) If you buy the 'basic' yacht (Pisces?) can you upgrade it to one of the larger models at a later date?

2) If you went for the 'basic' model - but upgraded it later - would that end up costing the same as buying the fully upgraded Aquarius straight away? (eg. $10m to buy fully upgraded Aquarius - if you buy the 'basic' yacht first, then upgrade later - would the total cost also be $10m?)

I'm roughly half-way to $6m (a much less daunting target!) - thinking about buying the $6m yacht as a reward for hitting that lower target, then just slowly upgrading it over time...but if that would end up costing me an extra couple of million, I won't bother!

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

You can't upgrade to the $8 Million Yacht. So it's best to save up for the Aquarius without any upgrades. Then you can buy the upgrades seperate later on,

I have always found it amusing that people call it "grinding."

Dig a ditching is "grinding." Sitting on your arse playing a video game with friends is not grinding. If it has become that, don't do it.

Enjoy playing the game, don't just grind to grind. Find a few PSJ finales and work 3-4 hours a day on contact missions. You'll hit $10m in a week or two by doing that.

Something I learned, not sure if it's a bug or not, but you can immediatly get a new VIP contract.

- In an invite only session, just going through the Sightseer/Contact Mission swap tactic, don't deposit any earned money during that session.

- As soon as your current VIP contract expires, deposit all earned money.

- Start-Online-Exit GTAO

- As soon as the Exiting GTAO loading circle vanishes on the bottom right, go to dashboard (before you're taken down to single player character).

- Once at dashboard, hit start for game options & exit game, then sign out, then turn off console & unplug from internet.

- Turn everything back on & log in to GTAO invite only session, you will have your VIP contract renewed magically with the full time refreshed.

In short it bypasses the 12 hour wait somehow, not sure how it does it.

Also it seems your deposited money is returned back to "on you", so you have to deposit it again.
