GTA SA Special Vehicle Guide [2015]

To my mind I tried it, but whenever you dupe, the game removes mavericks, adds 3 or sometimes 4 leviathans on a map (idk why usually two next to mountain and a third one next to area 69, all marked with blue blips, and for some reason recovers a yellow blip to where you had to take the buggy/sanchez, and the game crashes when saved.

But bro, OM0 is still my weak side so any new try is a bonus.

Off-topic question: how can you reqruit a grove homie when out in the countryside? Ballas spawns everywhere.

You need to have performed the territory glitch in an unused area (unused as in you can't take it over without glitches). Grove guys will spawn there.

@Lennart - I tried the spot shown in the video, but while good, it's not ideal. The pond is perfect. It seems as if they put it there just for the Hydra in particular.

I CANT PLAY LCS OR VCS ON PC. I can't live with ignoring those 2!!!

It is possible on emulator. If you opt not to use Save States and/or Fast Forward (remember; nobody's forcing you to use them), it's just like playing the real thing, only with higher resolution and maybe faster "Loading..." screens. Be warned though; if you go for a PS2 emulator, you'll need a quite powerful PC to run these games smoothly, as they tend to lag worse than GTA V at times.

I'm actually thinking about using the normal method, and storing the Leviathan in the Los Santos impound and then using the Transfender exploit to get it out of there. I will show both methods in the video. (This will work, I've sone it with an Andromada as well. I've stored the Andromada in the LS impound and I got it out safely)

That's an interesting thing you got there (Andromada in the LS Impound?! Holy sh*t ). The Transfender teleportation exploit with normal garages is one thing, but, to be honest, I was wondering whether it was possible with the Impounds, although never bothered to check. Thanks for confirming that. I thought of the AT-400 a while ago, so now that I know the Transfender trick works for the Impounds, I might give it a try, but can you even enter the damn plane after storing it, or even right after making it AP?

because it is Heavy, it is 'unflippable' in water or such. It won't tilt more than 5° and not pushing it properly will cause some headache.

Wait, I've experienced the same thing with two helicopters in VCS: AP/EC Maverick and DP Armadillo. They could barely tilt immediately after jacking them (and this is why the latter is so damn hard to obtain), but after storing them in the garage, they reverted back to normal. And garages do not delete the Heavy property in VCS, so something else might be going on there, unless someone can confirm the property by looking into the script. About pushing the helicopter, well, a Leviathan is already hard to push by default. Have you tried pushing a normal one for comparison? In any case, this Leviathan bears many similarities with the DP Armadillo in VCS, both in terms of acquisition method and difficulty, so if you ever decide to play VCS, prepare for another daunting challenge

Regarding wrecks in the Impounds, well, I haven't lost a single one within the garage zone to date. I did lose, however, a Hydra wreck a bunch of times on my way there, as I'm one of these handful of people who got this thing in a Starter Save, back then when fnxrak and a couple of others first did it. I had attempted this so many times I'd completely mastered it, to the point I could school even Joshimuz :pp:monocle: But not once did the garage zone cause me problems with wrecks. On the other hand, the one garage I absolutely can NOT restore wrecks is the Verdant Meadows hangar, no matter what I do, or what wreck I put inside. I've been reading cases of restoring the Andromada inside this garage on PS2, but there is no way in hell for me to do it, as I can't even restore a destroyed Dune there.

As for the frame limiter, I can't comment much. Consoles don't need this option, since they can't even reach the standard FPS the game was intended to be played most of the time, let alone higher, and maybe that's the reason the game behaves erratically with it turned off. I almost always play with the frame limiter on, and game runs just fine. On the contrary, too much wacky sh*t when turning it off, especially in Vice City (who needs Chaos Mode when you can just turn the frame limiter off? :pp); it's more irritating to me than fun.

I got the Unique Andromada twice on PS2 as did jam8tone once and I can assure you, the Hanger restores it, but if and ONLY IF you kill CJ quick enough. It needs a Suicide on PS2, hence why I have 4 Deaths in the 1st Save File...

Still not easy and took 20 tries each time I got it...It's all about patience and staying persistent until you get it. All Special Vehicles are like this...

But did you try the Hydra on a Console where no Hydras spawn to crash into a building? Of course it works on PC...

To my knowledge the PS2 version runs at 30 fps (while having fps drops at some areas), and due to a glitch the PC version runs at 25. The Steam version runs at 26, which still isn't what it should be.

I have no idea if the AT-400 can be made AP, maybe if you undrown it and push it somewhere next to an underwater hill where CJ is close enough to the door to enter it.

What glitch? Never read of it. Well, I'm not a technical expert, but I do remember that San Andreas absolutely loved to drop to ridiculous FPS on PS2, especially when driving at high speeds, and not just in some areas, unless you mean the entire map. On PC, it always runs much more smoothly.

I doubt it. Undrowning this thing is hard enough, but pushing it all the way to some underwater hill afterwards? How are you supposed to do that, since it just rolls down and falls through the unsolid seafloor? I thought about making it AP during a wanted level, and pray for a Ranger or something to fall in the water, so you can park it next to the plane and subsequently enter it, but I discarded the idea for this reason. I also tried just staying inside the AT-400, hoping to fall through Grey Hell before I drown, but didn't work.

When watching Bender's PS2 stream I notice a big difference between 25 fps for PC and 30 fps for him. Although PC's 25 fps never drops below that (unlike the PS2).

This is from the list of changes added in Silent Patch for SA:

14ms frame delay has been removed. As a result, game now locks properly on 30 FPS instead of 25 FPS

About the AT-400, maybe it's possible to sink it at Santa Maria Beach and then teleport it to Transfender, and then storing it in the Los Santos impound.

I thought Bender. was on PS4, which emulates the PS2 Version digitally, and I wonder how my PS3 works with the PHYSICAL PS2 Disc and emulates it. I don't really have issues with playing on PS2, but then again I was never spoiled and cared to play PC Version. Maybe after people play that with all the higher this and that, they can't go back. I'll stick to the originals, though...

And like in Bender.'s Stream where he can't seem to get a Police Maverick or News Chopper to spawn, same thing happens with the Hydra. The Rockets spawn and blow you up, but you can't rotate any camera swiftly like you can on PC to keep an eye on any Hydra. By the time the camera swivels around, the low Draw Distance already makes the Hydra despawn. These things are literally nothing like trying to do them on PS2. Hence why I am only interested in hearing if someone manages this on the PS2 rather the PC. A bunch of people got a Hydra on PC already for a Starter Save many years back...

I always thought about getting Helicopters/Planes for all 3 Impounds and 3 in each, but the big issue is the damn spawns for some of them which makes the task a nightmare since you'll reload a million times all with the same outcome. I don't even know one single person who got a Hydra on a Console. It's always PC...

Because of the issues with Planes/Helicopters, I prefer getting a bunch of Rare Cars/Trucks/Vans for the Starter Save and making them EP/FP with Gray Imports like I did already. I have the EP/FP Phoenix, EP/FP Turismo, EP/FP Bullet, EP/FP Hotknife, EP/FP Euros, EP/FP Sandking, EP/FP Bloodring Banger, EP/FP NE NRG-500, and EP/FP Seasparrow. I will get these SAME 9 in my new Starter Save + a Dune, as well, just to simply have it, as it's another contender to make EP/FP. I'd get a Quadbike, too, HOWEVER, THIS actually spawns in The Country on PS2 without 4 Stars, thus I don't care for it. I only want RARE Vehicles or Locked Territory Vehicles to make EP/FP, not any old random Vehicles and since the Quadbike is piss easy to just drive to without any Wanted Level and take back to the Garage, it's worthless to me. Although, this is only possible to get with 4 Stars on PC, as it doesn't spawn in The Country anymore like it did on PS2...

I would love an EP/FP Raindance, EP/FP News Chopper, EP/FP Police Maverick, EP/FP Hydra, EP/FP Rustler, etc, etc, but it won't happen. This is why in a 2nd Save using OM0, I simply just get some of these Helicopters/Planes and make them AP, even though I would prefer getting them all in a Starter Save and making them EP/FP and having them in a MAIN, 1st Save File without any OM0 nonsense.

Not sure about his normal SA version (although the menu when the game crashes or restarts looks very ancient), but his Japanese version is definitely running on a PS2. (A Japanese PS2, not that it makes a difference).

Hmm, did you mix these up? Do you mean:

1) Sink it near the Santa Maria Beach

2) Store it in the Los Santos Impound

3) Teleport it to Transfender?

Wait, will "Beat the Cock!" get it impounded?! I gotta try this. If it works, we can use this for the Andromada, since it's a bitch to undrown. Unless you mean going on a date with the Transfender menu and getting OM0 again.

Not sure about the Hydra. Although the draw distance is better on PC, it can still be hard to keep an eye on the plane, because moving the mouse around tilts the helicopter (if you're flying one) instead of rotating the camera, unless you can change it from the settings - I don't know. Anyway, do wrecks disappear as easily on PS2? Judging by the Andromada, it doesn't seem so, and if that's the case, the hardest part is getting the Hydra to hit a skyscraper and land in the yard or on the slope, and the rest is slightly-above-standard stuff, if you know how to properly push this thing. On PC, it's actually the other way around, where the bulk of the challenge is down in the garage.

The Camera Control is monumentally faster than Consoles and Mobile on PC. Try moving Rotating Camera on anything other than PC and you'll notice a HUGE difference. The Rotating Camera like how you play LCS/VCS on PSP is like how SA is on PS2. LCS/VCS is also the same speed Rotating Camera on PS2, as well, but this Camera is much quicker specifically on the PC Version of SA for some reason. The same speed of rotation is also on PS3, with the HD Era like IV, TLaD, TBoGT, and V. Or better yet, watch jam8tone's AP Fire Truck Video on Xbox Version. Then watch someone else's Video doing it on PC and on PC, keeping the camera fixed on the Fire Truck going to the Bomb Shop is drastically easier due to how quick it moves. Same way to refresh Traffic on PC by flicking it upwards so it's sort of top down, and then back to normal. By doing that, you can remove Traffic in front of you. Can't be done on Console or Mobile cuz once again the Camera moves like a Snail; slow as f*ck...You have to drive incredibly slower to the Bomb Shop with a strange crossed hand technique with tapping X while using the opposite hand to use other Controls. Same functionality like that new PP Conversion using Firefighter in LCS on PS2. You need to do some wack crossed hand technique while you hold R3 down and drive the Vehicle to a water location. Having to criss-cross your hands and press buttons in awkward positions isn't easy and that is exactly how the AP Fire Truck is on PS2.

Any Video on PC I see of the Hydra or Fire Truck, or anything else for that matter you can easily see how quick it is and how simple it is for people who are used to PC Version to keep it on a fixed location. Same with the DP/EP/FP/MP Police. So easy running down the hill in East Los Santos while keeping the camera on the Police. This isn't TOO difficult on PS2, but it doesn't matter as the Draw Distance is so poor that the Police despawned already by this time when going up the hill before the Police Bike Donut Cutscene.

I am sure you can change something in the settings. There is many other Options in the Settings on PC as well as Mobile (Android Only).

Wrecks vanish easily on all Platforms but Mobile. For some reason, on Mobile, even without looking at them, they remain for a good 5-10 seconds. On all other Platforms they disappear. I'd go as far as to say they are swallowed easier on PS2, as well, when trying to push them into the Garage or shoot them into the Garage. Even any Wreck and taking the Camera off it for a split second can have it vanish. The Consoles seem to not handle the games as well as a PC so the data like a Wreck wants to be deleted quicker, imo, so the game can get "back up to speed."

I don't know. It's pointless talking about this and comparing when you won't be experimenting on the PS2 in the end, anyways. There is a Video of someone getting the Andromada on PS2 already in the Guide and what happened there happened to me.....................................After 20 Attempts each, if not more and it disappeared in the Hanger, sometimes not even fully into the Hanger and it would vanish. I would blow it up, get to push it with Tank all the way back to the Hanger, and either get it half way in or all the way in before it disappeared. The two times I got it, I got extremely lucky that I was able to exit the Tank quickly, throw a couple Satchel Charges down on the ground and blow CJ up and while I was getting the fade and respawning at the Hospital it was still there, thankfully. Same with AP Fire Truck when I blow it up with Parachute in Hanger and kill CJ. However, with the Fire Truck I have yet to not have it inside the Hanger when I come back to see if it remained, only the Andromada would vanish. The faster I killed CJ, the better, but even if I was fast, it still would disappear a couple times before finally getting it. It's not easy and took hours to get both times...The OM0 Method is a lot easier as it's not a wreck and guaranteed to get it, and no Suicide, either. But no matter how difficult a Special Vehicle is in ANY GTA, if it can be obtained without OM0, that's how I do it. I only use OM0 as a last resort when all things fail otherwise. However, a lot of people now like using OM0 even for Vehicles that don't and never will need OM0, which doesn't make sense. Such low patience they can't reload and try again or what? I don't get it...

Even if Vehicles are in tact in the Impounds if you look away for a split second, they are gone and on PS2, entering them is very different as well. On PC, you just run in, hugging the walls basically, but with PS2 you need to use the snail rotating Camera to try and keep it always on the fixed location of where the Vehicles spawn while trying to go down the hills inside the Impound and if successful, you will have them there when you turn the corner, etc, but if you f*ck up the Camera part for just a moment, they are gone...

I know how to push the Hydra into the Impound. I've seen it by 3 or 4 people already, Joshimuz being the latest person to get it, but as you can see, he only does it after many, many Attempts. Even without doing anything wrong, it still vanishes half the time. There is no foolproof Method to get it. It can vanish simply on any Platform I'd imagine. It's never a guarantee for it to land in the Impound area and then push it from side to side into the zone and run away and it restore. It's very slim to none. But...How do you GET TO THIS STAGE if no Hydras spawn, period? Even when I crash land a Shamal on the Ammunation in LV like I did in my old Starter Save to find a Turismo in traffic without having to drive around and deal with the Cops, NO Police Mavericks/News Choppers spawned at all while I was up there and very little traffic spawns in general, as well. All you see is Cops on foot, Enforcer Roadblocks, and the occasional Police Cruiser. It's a Ghost Town on PS2 with 4 Stars in a Starter Save cuz the Console can barely handle all the chaos going on and Frame Rate drops significantly...But it's pointless discussing PS2 and/or Consoles in general since who in this entire Topic is using one to play GTA? Me and like 3-4 others MAX. Everyone else is on PC, therefore you can't compare cuz PS2 =/= PC. Nobody seems to get it until they actually try it themselves and see what I am saying...But that won't happen, so it's pointless to discuss. When someone says the got a Hydra on PS2, then my eyes and ears are open to listen to how they achieved it cuz it's way harder there. Until then, I am not too worried about this...

I actually meant teleporting it while in the water, because it's pretty much impossible to move the AT-400 when submerged that deep.

Not sure about "Beat the Cock", but it adds a mission attempt, even after 100%

How many are garages in each town?

And is there any limit of vehicles we can store(with bug)?

I mean, i.e. LCS Staunton island garage only can contain 4vehicles and the fifth one will be gone

Safehouses with Garages: Ganton, Verdant Bluffs/El Corona, Santa Maria Beach, Mulholland, Dillimore, Palomino Creek, Doherty, Hashbury, Calton Heights, Paradiso, Verdant Meadows, Verdant Meadows Hanger, Fort Carson, Prickle Pine, Whitewood Estates, Redsands West, Rockshore West.

ALL the Garages can hold a maximum of 4 Vehicles, just like ALL the Garages in VC, LCS and VCS. So there are 4 Garages in Los Santos, 2 in Red County, 4 in San Fierro, 3 in Bone County and 4 in Las Venturas. Also, you can put Vehicles on the Roof of the Mulholland Safehouse Garage. You can store a Seasparrow there and make it a EP/FP Seasparrow and use the Roof of the Garage to store it. You can use ANY Low Car and store it on the Roof of the Garage. Also, you can use the Doherty Garage in the Beginning.

Also, each city has an Impound, each can have a maximum of 3 Vehicles, so 9 more Spaces to store Vehicles. All Impounds can be used early. Check the Video in the OP for more information.

Sure thing! Thanks, Tiger. I appreciate it. I think the Guide has enough spare Posts for now. When I learn how to obtain OM0 Special Vehicles I will have to write a huge essay explaining EVERYTHING, including the Setup and consequences like Permanent Map Blips.

Also, my last Post will have Photos of the community's Special Vehicle Collections. MM KJ already PMed me his Collection and I will include his and Militia's Collections when I finish the Guide.

SpriteFan, maybe you should take note that the AP sabres and Sentinels in the Green Sabre mission are all collectibles even when passing the mission. Well this might appeal to those "perfectionist" players who try to avoid mission failures while doing this kind of stuffs.

You can pass The Green Sabre and obtain the AP Sentinel? That's possible? Or am I reading this wrong and you mean that there is 2 of 2 Versions from Tanker Commander and Mountain Cloud Boys?

I would of loved to get the AP Sentinel with the AP/EC2 Bravura at the same time with failing once as shown in rtyuijhggff's Video, but unfortunately on PS2, the Wreck of the Bravura always vanishes when you return to it with the AP Sentinel. Different Script I guess...

Yup, very possible. Even get all of them 3 Sentinels and 2 Sabres, with a one time fail only for the bravura. You simply proceed on the mission as normal, and when you get to the part where you have to elimiate the Ballas, start shooting all the AP cars with weapons that could "destroy" them. You have no time limit at this point so you can just go one by one to the AP cars there to do this. Of course, while trying to avoid riding in any of them until they're emitting black smoke and "destroyrd". These are repairable as any ordinary vehicle eventhough they're APs already. So just store them one by one in the garage and then complete the mission. They'll just be there. This is for PS2.

You should start with the Bravura, fail mission then go with the othersand pass mission.

Amazing discovery, GTA_Loco! I will add the Pass methods for the AP Sentinel and AP Sabre later when I'm done writing the Guide and I will need Videos for it too.

I suspect that you need to go back to Los Santos to confirm the AP Cars in the Garages as they're Mission Scripted.

Holy sh*t! Incredible! Good find. I never knew you could do this. I was always under the impression that only while the Health Meter for Sweet was displayed on screen you could get them in AP form by shooting at them until they would smoke black. If this is possible, it's awesome. Glad you mentioned PS2 since I play on the PS2 as well and love to hear when something is confirmed on that Platform.

I am the same way, though. I always prefer Methods, even if they are harder or more time consuming, with the intention of having clean Stats as best as possible. So this is just one more instance that it helps making the AP Sentinel from Mountain Cloud Boys a waste of time. Waste of time, cuz it takes longer and second, you have to fail to get it. Furthermore, even if you desire up to 8 EP/FP Vehicles like I did in my Save, I STILL had room when I left Los Santos. I had 3 in the LS Impound, 4 in Doherty, 1 in LV Impound, and 16 Special Vehicles inside the 4 Garages in Los Santos, AP Sentinel being one of them. As you can see, still tons of room with the other Impounds, so I never knew exactly why people skip the AP Sentinel in The Green Sabre and use the phrase "more room later on." You have plenty of room, if you just utilize the space given to you, lol...

Nice Video! The hardest part is putting the Tanker Trailer in the Garage as you can't unhook it without ramming it against the back of the Garage and turning sideways, basically. Furthermore, unlike Mobile, once you unhook it, it's stuck on the ground like one of those Wrecks that can't be moved without a Sawn Off Shotgun or Minigun. I always have to Shotgun it into the Garage, straight and have it touch the back of the Garage, then run away on foot while keeping the camera on the Garage to make it close and not vanish. If it's sticking out just by a couple inches, it vanishes. At times, I've spent 10 minutes trying to get it in as well, but I wouldn't worry about that...The Cops and getting a constant Wanted Level when shooting it in can be annoying, though :D:p

Furthermore, the Video says AP Tanker and BP Tanker Trailer. That's reversed. BP Tanker and AP Tanker Trailer...

Also don't worry about Comments/Down Rated sh*t. It means absolutely nothing ;) Hope to see more stuff to come in the future.

Good job SpriteFan for rewriting majority of the Guide in literally one day and staying up for 24 Hours straight to do so, lol...

It feels good not having to worry about editing and updating. I can just assemble my Saves in peace now...

I have read a tiny portion of the guide and have comments:

Also be careful as sometimes the Ballas will get aggressive and will try to shoot at you, but remember to push it back to the Garage by any means necessary.

[Edited for clarity]

Starting and cancelling Pimping makes them less aggressive forever - until completing Drive-By, so do it after that mission.

High Noon:

There is a jetpack-less method to get into the Buffalo - should be quite welcome given the hundreds of attempts it takes to get. ^^ In the video, Pulaski dies because the player accelerates asap by holding W/sprint (which is equivalent to simply the X button on PS2), so you really want to avoid that.

AP/EC2 Buffalo - I will maybe include this Method in the Guide later, though it looks like it's PC-only as it shows how easily Carl is pushing the Buffalo while navigating with the Mouse Camera, though I think the Jetpack Method is the best as it can be used on all Platforms. Also, like shown in the Stream, getting in the Passanger Door and immediately pressing accelerate will lead the Driver to die, so this should be avoided by waiting a bit and then pressing accelerate.

AP Infernus - You'll need the Broadway first to activate Pimping like you said, but to get the AP Infernus flipped you will need the Tractor or Monster. It's not that hard pushing the wreck without activating Pimping, also I've never seen Ballas driving the Broadway so you can't get it from traffic either, I believe.

Formally (as far as game mechanics are concerned) pushing vehicles is only easier on consoles, compared to linked video, because PC version with frame limiter on runs at 25 fps and on consoles it's 30 fps (and in video frame limiter is on). Buffalo loses proofs in 26 seconds after regaining control in the mission, so it should work regardless. It might be worth testing on consoles though, but it doesn't sound like a superior method.

You didn't get Patrick's point. There is a glitch that Ballas become less hostile globally (it's stored in save file etc) if Pimping mission is started at any point after doing Drive-by and he suggests using it. Ballas, however, cannot be made hostile again if it's used.

SpriteFan,

I clarified what I meant:

Starting and cancelling Pimping makes them less aggressive forever - until completing Drive-By, so do it after that mission.

Why does there need to be a one-fits-for-all method? If it is about the length of the guide, you can simply mention all strategies relevant to some group of people in a one-liner with a link to the corresponding resource.

I do not know how much you like to argue, feel free to just ignore this, I do not care enough about this to annoy people. :D

I still find the Jetpack method for the AP/EC2 Buffalo easier and more reliable, Mors told me he got it with 3 tries.

Now I understand what you mean by the Pimping Ballas Trick. Awesome find! I know for sure the Ballas get more aggressive when you do more Story Missions. I will sure include that information in the Guide. Does that Trick work on ALL Platforms though?

I want the Guide to cover the Best Methods that work on ALL Platforms. If there are easier and more reliable Methods for a specific Platform, then I will put that Method too and mention it can only be obtained on a specific Platform. Like the AP Sultan on Mobile, same trick works for the AP Leviathan on Mobile.

First, let me complete the Guide and then I will fix some things up. I also need to put the Pass Method for the AP Sentinel and AP Sabre from The Green Sabre. Then add some more OM0 Vehicles from the Story and add the Pimping Ballas Trick along with the AP/EC2 Buffalo second Method.

Hardly a find, it was documented here almost 10 years ago :D
