Are armored cars worth buying?

I've been thinking about this for a while. The Kuruma is quite a nice car from what I've experienced: good speed, excellent protection but low durability.

Now, with the new update, new armored vehicles have been added but I'm not sure if they're worth the price (if I'm not wrong not higher than 500 000$), especially after seeing that the glass is as fragile as my bones. Looking at the description given the cars should be some kind of tanks with diamonds as glass but this doesn't seem to be the case since with 2-3 sniper shots I was able to headshot the driver.

So the question is: should I reconsider and give it a try? Is every armored vehicle weak or it was just an exceptiontion/glitch?

I don't think they are. This is the reason R* should add these cars to single player so we can test them before buying online.

They're mainly good against explosives. I fell in love with my armored baller when I got out of LS Customs and a guy rpged me but killed himself with the explosion instead. Plus they look much better than a kuruma IMO.

Glass is pretty tough from the outside, you can break it easily from the inside though. The best thing is, they can take an explosion without dying, takes two to destroy them. They also look WAY better than the Kuruma, and some models are a whole lot cheaper.

I bought the armored Schafter V12, but for armored cars i will still keep with the Kuruma, for me is the best choice because i will only use to missions and things like that.

The V12 is a cool car, much better to drive than the Kuruma, but not what i were looking for.

Is that so? From what I've seen yesterday a couple of sniper shots can break it like if it was paper and the speed doesn't seem so high

The armoured kuruma is still the only one worth getting.

The new armoured cars can survive 2 explosives, but thats the only thing thats better

Sniper and heavy revolver rounds cut through it pretty quick, but it's resistant to lower caliber weapons. Somebody you drive past isn't going to lock you and take you out just like that, and the revolvers slow firing speed and heavy sniper rifle's hard aiming mean you'll be long gone before they can touch you.

Speed depends on the model. I have a Baller and Cognoscenti, and no complaints, but I think the Schafter is fastest.

Agreed. Many people say they look awesome from the outside but that doesn't justify the insane prices. Why call it armored if they're so damn weak?

Short wheel base models are cheaper than the Kuruma, what are you talking about insane prices?

Since they can stop one explosive and some bullets i woud say its realy not uneusefull.

Chase a guy and notice an explosion flipping you over and you know the road will be covered with mines.

Also less a good target in freeroam.

Its sure more practical then anything slower then those armored things

Not all of them though. The Cognoscenti costs about 558 000$ and the Gallivanter 513 000$. It's just a bit more than the Kuruma but I still don't get why I should be interested in them if the Kuruma has much more protection (in terms of inside).

Surely the others can be appealing for those looking for a cheaper choice, I agree, but what about the most expensive ones?

But keep in mind that the new cars don't have aiming restrictions like the Kuruma.

You can shoot backwards, slightly backwards all of the angles the kuruma can't.

And you can throw stickies, grenades which you can't in the Kuruma.

They are pretty much like a more fragile Insurgent.

So if they are worth buying?

I would say yes because they are badass cars.

I didn't consider it, good point. What about speed?

Speed is good, cant see that they are slower than the unarmored versions.

Like armor Kuruma and no armor Kuruma I suppose.

I'm surprised that new armored cars can't get the same treatment as the armored Kuruma. We should at least have the option to replace the windows with bulletproof plating.

Did some mythbusters testing on LWB armored schafter. Three rounds from the new revolver, five from the heavy sniper and fourteen from the bullpup rifle was needed to shatter the glass. And all from close distance. That's not bad, it won't get you through normal kuruma antics on a mission, but I'm fine with that. Makes playing more fun, but that little bit more secure.

They seem so slow estethically talking. I guess they're not slightly better than the rusty tractor then. Is customization decent somehow? Spoilers, accessories...

Not much of customization on a Schafter. Small bumper mods, different hood, three spoilers (one of which is a cool nod to the old 16v 2.3 190). Interior color, exhaust and that's it i think.

But It's a beast to drive. Top speed is respectable, acceleration less so, but handling it's sublime. Where the normal V12 Schafter is a bit nervous (in a good way), the long armored one is a true GT. Predictable, neutral and easy to drive. Where as kuruma isn't my cup of tea. I don't spin so often in any other car, i seem to never quite learn if it will under- or overseer. And then it usually snaps sideways in an interesting angle and shoots out. Kind of hate that car, but i guess It's handling Is like that so it isn't the sole car people drive.

Meh, if there's little customization I'm not really interested. I've always been keen on it and I choose my cars looking at the personalization available, but I guess not everything is black and white. How much speed are you talking about? Faster than a bulldozer?

Wth is wrong with you... ofc it's faster than a bulldozer. Something tells me you're not going to buy one of the new vehicles no matter what anyone in here says.

Faster than a dozer? :D By a margin. No, really it's decently fast. On the freeway i'd be surprised if kuruma could keep up, although down the ramp kuruma will lead. And acceleration isn't anything hideous either, it's kind of what you could imagine - very heavy, but powerful car. Kind of reminds me of space rocket. Slow start, but ultimately power will prevail.

Hahahaha space rocket? If that was so I'd buy it immediately. Oh wait, I only have 90 000$

The guy in the Kuruma that shot the sticky in my passenger's hand while we were passing each other learned that one the hard way. He went BOOM I went into LSC and I had the car repaired for $500.

In 3 or so hours of free roam antics my armored Shafter got blown up 3 times once was by my own passenger (Sticky + Previous blast damage). I died 4 or 5 times which is not bad considering I'm complete sh*t at PvP and can't freeaim worth a crap.

It's definitely fast enough to lag in a busy lobby, Watch your turns because the ass will come around and it will understeer into that Grainger that just plopped down in front of you while you are chasing a Bullet. It definitely has mass but nowhere near what I have experienced in an armored Kuruma.

I've only experienced the armored Baller LE and the armored Schafter V12's.

Armored Baller LE:

The armored Baller LE is raw, hot garbage. Some cretin failed the Pac Standard finale three times in it. Once for getting us all shot up in it, once again for getting it stuck in a f*cking ditch, and once again for not being able to keep that piece of greasy sh*t on the f*cking mountain.

Armored Schafter V12:

The armored Schafters sh*t all over the Kuruma. The only advantage the Kuruma has over them are the idiot-proof windows. However, if the Schafter driver doesn't sit in one spot like a f*cking moron (or a Kuruma troll firing his AP pistol at you after he catches you on foot), he'll never get shot out of it. Other than that, it's faster, handles infinitely better and it'll eat a rocket, burp and ask for another.

Can it resist to squakers' voices? That's the real question

The V12 is the best. Fast good looking 4 seats and more survivable than similarly performing cars. I also have a Cognoscenti 55 armored because I had leftover cash and wanted to play president. Armored cars that aren't fast have no real place unless they are more tanky like an Insurgent. My Cognoscenti pair will only see use as showboats and cruisers.
