Liberty City Stories Released on iOS!

This looks really good. Like seriously, visually I'd say it's the best mobile port yet. When it comes to Android I'll get it, I'd imagine it will run fine on a Galaxy S6 Edge. Too bad cheat device won't work. :p

With the release of the mobile port, and the increased likelyhood of a PC version, do you think CLEO could support LCS? I'd love to see that.

I actually asked Alexander on his thread about this. We will see once the Android version gets released, I guess.

Atmosphere looks different, did they change the timecyc or have a colorcycle thing like SA? Is the trails there?

The trails/filter is gone from the original versions. LCS originally had a lot of bloom (as did VCS) and had a slight "blue" over it, the new releases have none of that AFAIK.

Also what's with the engine talk? Aren't all 3d GTA games use the same, if not similar engines?

LCS & VCS originally used an in-house engine by Rockstar, based off of RenderWare due to EA buying the rights after SA, however the mobile versions seem to have gone back?

Does it work on iPad 3? (3rd gen).

It works. It is lagging a little sometimes when in open areas. Wasn't a problem for me since I got used to it while using PS2 emulator, but of course it's not smooth 60 fps.

I don't think anyone has confirmed RenderWare. From a read of the modding topic, the formats are more akin to the PS2 MDL format. Keep in mind the Rockstar Leeds 3D Engine was structured very similar to RenderWare so they could easily transition the existing III, VC, Warriors and Manhunt 2 work.

http://lucidgames.co.uk/ are the developers it seems.

Source?

Kinda funny that Rockstar purchased Leeds specifically to work on mobile games, but yet Rockstar has resulted to outsourcing all the mobile work.

It uses practically the same renderware version used in Vice City. Even the game was developed on the top of that game. Probably Cleo for android should work without heavy tweaking...

Seems like they never saw LCS, or any other f*cking GTA. And also they didn't have much time.

Well, I pirated the game to see if it works on my 4S and, surprisingly, it does. Not great, but at least bearable, decent sometimes. Anyway that's better than trying to play it via PPSSPP on this phone, even though I still prefer original console versions. So I'm buying it.

P.S. And Mega, Claude's garage is pretty much intact.

Thank God! Now Claude, in my game, will have a space to park the intro's Kuruma and never ever use it again :D

Actualy It did run on a new engine, an old toned RAGE engine to be precise.

The reason it looks like VC Renderware is cause that version of the engine was based of VC's RW Engine.

However I'm not sure if it returned back to the RW engine in this version.

Still, the best GTA mobile port, IMHO, is III. It didn't have any half-assed effects like real-time shadow and sh*t slapped over it just for the sake of saying "Remastered". Only original stuff. And it played great on 4S, unlike LCS which isn't any prettier but lags as hell.

That's because new smartphones today are way faster. If R* would have released GTA III in 2015, it would have new reflections, textures as well.

I agree about III, VC looked fine but had some changes that were bad like running being slower or weapons using different icons which IMO made it feel rushed. SA however were even worse, I still want to know why they decided to add that sh*ty oil filter to the game.

III however improved everything.

It appears the Kuruma is made by Vapid there.

Imagine a 'stories' bundle on steam, with LCS and VSC. 20 US dollars. It would sell like ice cream.

Imagine something better.

I wonder how this will run on the GPD XD. I was thinking about getting one for Christmas. San Andreas runs fine on it from what I've seen.

And I'm guessing R* wants to use Lucid Games more often. Their site says they worked on the Vita version of the iFruit app.
