Liberty City Stories Released on iOS!

Recommended Posts

This is, surprisingly, a really good port.

The shooting is actually somewhat functional, graphics are pretty smooth, this is great!

That looks very impressive. Can't wait for VCS, and my preferred PC Version as well. :)

I wonder if a mobile version of VCS would make it easier for the VCS: PC team to port things over for the mod.

I want a PC version too, these updated graphics can't stay on a mobile device, and it looks like lots of devices are lagging playing it. PC should get them to run with their glory.

Atmosphere looks different, did they change the timecyc or have a colorcycle thing like SA? Is the trails there?

Also what's with the engine talk? Aren't all 3d GTA games use the same, if not similar engines?

The Stories games run off a different engine, well since EA bought Criterion at the time, among other reasons.

I've heard many things about the LCS and VCS engine, that they are Renderware, early RAGE, and now something entirely different. Are you people speculating or do you have evidence to back up these claims?

I literally fell off my chair when I saw this topic here.

Love this attitude from Rockstar. It's great to see that they've moved on from the 'playstation exclusive' mindset regarding these games. Hopefully VCS follows and we can have all 3D era classics with mobile releases.

We can forget about PC version or no?

Great to see LCS ported to mobile :) But they did sh*t job on fonts. I don't like the new fonts. I hope mods will change them...

I agree. This and the weapon icons, AND the health/armor bar.

But don't worry, once modding becomes a thing and the Android version gets released, I'm going to replace them with CharlesVercetti (TommyCJFaann)'s. They look WAY better than the mobile ones.

This your first III era game? Seems like we've found a stray from the GTAO section.

Come on pal, let's get you back home.

Does it work on iPad 3? (3rd gen).

I doubt it, honestly. I was surprised to see it lag like f*ck every 5 seconds on iOS 8.1 with the iPhone 6. Literally. It didn't go longer than 10-15 seconds without stutter and lag.

This doesn't happen with III, VC, SA, or CW on iOS that I already own and finished to 100%. It's only LCS that does this. Then again my GTA III App is Version 1.3.5. VC is 1.5 and SA is 1.6. LCS on the other hand is 1.01. It's the very first edition. They will probably fix things.

I am also surprised it was $6.99. That's the price of San Andreas for Mobile. All other Ports like III, VC, and CW are only $4.99. Last Christmas 2014, I actually bought CW for only $2.99.

f*ck me. At this point I would pay $100 for a PC port or an Xbox 360\Xbox One version. I can play this on Android when it comes out but gaming on a phone or tablet is not very enjoyable. Touch controls are still terrible.

The weird thing is that they would have made more money with an improved console or PC version than with this mobile port. At least I am almost certain that they would have. There are still a lot of fans of the older games.

@Kristian, I remember we discussed the framerate issues for the PS2 Version. You think that is bad? Wait til you pick up LCS for Android.

Funny thing is, there is LESS dense Traffic on Mobile compared to actual PS2 Version and PS2 Version only had lag and stutter when the streets were populated and dense with too many Vehicles spawning at the same time. In Mobile? There is way less Vehicles, yet 5x more lag and stutter.

I went ahead and bought it and I am glad I got LCS on Mobile now, but PS2 is seriously a lot more stable at the end of the day, which is crazy. PSP is by far the best Version for LCS. But for VCS, PS2 is better than PSP. I wonder how the Mobile Version of VCS will be like in the future...

There's no reason to think that the Android version will perform just as badly as the iOS version. Android devices massively overpower Apple devices and as long as the game is optimized sufficiently it should run great on decent Android phones and tablets. I am going to get the game as soon as I purchase the OnePlus 2 in February.

Edit: There's also no reason to think that the performance won't improve on iOS with the release of patches.

Yeah, but how come every other Port just worked perfectly? Then all of a sudden LCS stutters and lags badly on day one release? I've purchased the other Ports after they been released for YEARS and never experienced any issues.

The 6.99 is pretty high, as well, considering SA is this price and is way better with so much more in the game. LCS is a short game and can reach 100% in less than 20 Hours Total Playing Time. It's more money plus a lag/stutter. Not very good if you ask me.

That kinda sucks. I also have III, VC & SA, finished to 100%, with little to no issues, but I noticed LCS is not "officaly supported" on my iPad, so I thought I'd make sure it works before spending $10.99. Guess I'll stick with my PS2 version for now.

They'd better optimize it. I've seen videos of SA running on a Galaxy S5 with frequent lag if the graphics aren't toned down. The thing is, in the iPhone 4s and beyond, SA runs nicely with shadows and traffic turned high.

Pretty sure it´s going to be released on PC and PS4 next year.

Seriously? I'm playing it on the iPhone 5 and it doesn't lag at all.

It looks exactly like the one on the PS2, but different from the one on the PSP.
