The most recent update for ps4/xbone/pc kinda gives you the option if you try to connect to a certain mission/job. If no one else is hosting, you are given the option to be host for that job or join a random job in the same category (mission, deathmatch, LTS, etc) that someone else is hosting. The ability to host right from the menu screen has been gone for almost a year at this point. Kinda frustrating when you want to host friends/crew only job and keep getting tossed into random sessions with others, especially when they launch before you get a chance to back out and try again. The conspiracy theory for this is R* wants us to play with others so badly they're forcing it on us by removing the ability to solo missions. My guess is more that they were getting complaints that matchmaking was taking too long because everyone playing was trying to host and no one was joining. Removing the option to choose to host, lowered the number of individual sessions and increased the odds of being tossed into a session with other players. If you go into Jobs > Play Job > Missions - A Titan of a Job as example you will be host and have all the options previously available, nothing has changed except the names of the menu's to Quick Job and Play Job. The only jobs you can't be host automatically are the Lamar Missions added with Lowriders unless as you say no one else is playing. Am I missing something here? blockerman Posted December 17, 2015 Author Share Posted December 17, 2015 It doesn't happen all of the time. It's dynamic. You have to get lucky to host a job that isn't being hosted by someone else. That is the best way if you want to start playing with friends. If solo, you have a good chance to be put together with others when you pick your next job. Invite only folks, you will be guaranteed as host every time using Play Job option, I have been doing that all week for missions, no randoms so far at all.
