Phantom Squad Threatens To Take Down PSN/Xbox Live During Christmas

Phantom Squad (a group that claims it isn't affiliated with lizard squad), has threatened that it will take down Xbox Live and PSN during Christmas, and keep the services down for a week.

This comes from several tweets from the Phantom Squads twitter account:

They didn't follow through, instead, attacking psn, but this still means the master race could be affected.

They're not children, they're not amateurs, they're not script kiddies. Lizard Squad claimed to be working for ISIS, claimed to be making a social agenda about the world's reliance on technology, and claimed to be making millions selling software. They're all lies. They're good at what they do and they want sh*ts and giggles. They want people to get upset, they want a reaction. I don't want to project or anything but these guys probably had difficult childhoods or got picked on a lot and this is their way of petty revenge.

 

It makes me sad to see. I feel nothing but pure pity for the people behind web-attacks like this.

 

Also, that Anonymous twitter account is not the actual Anonymous twitter account. Anonymous is quasi-disbanded and never had an actual Twitter account. Pretty much every time you hear "Anonymous" in terms of hacking, it's somebody pretending to be Anonymous.

No one can stop a DDoS attack (outside of literally arresting people). It requires an entire overhaul of the internet's architecture not just Sony and Microsoft.
