Bought a new game copy, instantly banned?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just bought a new copy of GTA V as my previous 4 got banned (one in August, three(!) banned earlier today - note that I never cheated or even played GTA:O on 2 of the 4 accounts), and an hour after activating (I haven't even played the game, or logged in to the account except to activate, exiting the game when it first entered the main menu), and an hour later I received an e-mail message saying I got a 'SC Admin Ban Report' against my account, and now I have a 'NotAllowed/Privilege' ban (that is, permanent, for 'violating the Terms of Service' and being unable to play even singleplayer, while I never even used this account at all)?

I don't think the 'Terms of Service' contain a 'you're not allowed to play if you're NTAuthority' clause, or even a clause allowing them to ban by hardware ID (as I used a different ISP, e-mail address and provider, Steam account and the lot)...?

Rockstar/Take-Two, you've really sunk to the deepest low a game publisher can have, revoking a game purchased for real money only an hour after activation without even having 'cheated' (or having run FiveM itself, in case you people wonder)...

... discuss.

At first I was going to chastise you thinking you bought a non legit version of the game...

But then I seen you the guy thats only trying to better GTAV with that sick mod...

Looks as tho they have it against you for that... dunno why when you do have the support of the community.

Hope it works out...

I understand that R*/Take Two are apparently trying to "protect their turf" so-to-speak, but all I can figure is that it must be embarrassing for them to have ideas out there admittedly better than their own...only way to explain it in the end.

The way they're going about "protecting their turf" and the attitude itself that comes across is probably going to hurt them more than help them.

Benevolence generates more respect than animosity.

Doubtful you got banned for no reason at all.... Just the fact that you tried to circumvent the system by buying more and more copies tells me you knew what was going on.

Trust me, I've been banned by rockstar and then by Sony.

I did deserve my bans... I was being a tough guy with scripts and pretending to be an awesome modder.

This is so sad I can't even comment anything appropriate. What EA was in 2008...

What system is he trying to circumvent by legally purchasing multiple copies of a game?

WTF

A hardware ID is based on... hardware. You can change ISP, IP adress, e-mail or even use a VPN but if you install the game on the same PC you used in earlier installs R* would still know it's you.
Also, R* can ban whoever they want for whatever made up reason. Not much you can do about that.

They banned you because probably it has something to do with FiveM.

Not trying to offend you but Im just being straight to the point.

Thank you, Cpt. Obvious! The point is that THIS IS NOT OK!

f*cking WHAT?! How the hell is it OK for Rockstar to let someone buy a product and then immediately ban them from using it without them even using it?!

^^ Not exactly the point of the thread (I know), but if NTAuthority bought the game via a credit card, he can at least get 100% of his money back; all it takes is submitting proof of the claim (i.e. a screenshot of the ban) and a receipt of the game purchase to them. Been there, done that with shyster companies...

They'll deal with the R* stuff on his behalf.

I get what you said but no matter how legal you buy the game multiple times, the company will still think you as a threat to their asset.Hence, you will get insta ban.

Just wow,a hardware ID ban ? how is this even legal since you haven't cheated ? that's a clear message from take2dicks and lowstar that they don't want you anywhere near their game, this is pure nazisim.

This is bullsh*t. They don't want you to even play their damn game.

This is not at all acceptable. But unfortunately, we can do sh*t, even though its illegal.

I'm really sorry NT. You still have our support.

I know your intentions are good with FiveM, but I'm happy if it's true that Rockstar have implemented hardware bans. I haven't been able to properly play GTA V for a few months now with literally 1-3 hackers in each session, and I hope this will deter some of them from thinking about using mods and cheats in GTA: O.

He never used FiveM or cheated. There is no plausible explanation to a hardware ban/permanent ban.

It's not about the money...

Not sure exactly where but I read about the current DRM used in GTA V that R* installs some software that collects the hardware configuration and each time you verify your entitlement the software checks the license with your hardware info.

If it doesn't match, you wont be able to play to avoid the same copy being installed on different computers.

Its listed under the T&C of the agreement, and so I guess, they simply banned you completely from playing the game.

No point in buying new copies since they already have the required hardware info to verify your actual emtitlement each time you install the copy.

Try installing the new copy with a new RGSC account and on a new computer.

I never said he cheated, and yes there is a plausible explanation.

Over the past few updates Rockstar could have been slowly testing hardware checks on accounts/IP's that have been banned multiple times. If "a different ISP, e-mail address and provider, Steam account and the lot" is true then what else is there to explain?

BlaringFiddle

There is no "hardware id" on a PC - not in the same sense as there is on a console. There was that short lived CPU ID thing, but that is gone for many years. The way M$ does it is to make a hash of all of your hardware PCI ID and the like. Change out enough components and its a new PC. I doubt R* is doing anything like that. There is something else going on here.

Yeah, it´s weird as f*ck.

It seems apparent that you´re not telling us the whole story, OP.

Additional Notes:

Software installations required authentication software that recognizes certain hardware attributes for entitlement, digital rights management, system, and other support purposes.

ok - so Steam does do a hardware hash similar to M$. So - if he purchases game non-steam (you would think he would have at least tried to) then *bam* no hardware hash...
