Yeah it's canned animations for the in game cutscenes. Vice City did it too, with a smiliar "gesturing with hands" animation.

I'd rather see people cross their arms as opposed to f*cking pet the air as if there were a big shaggy dog in front of them.

Anyone else noticed that most of the cutscenes aren't fully animated like previous GTAs? Instead They're like the cutscenes from DYOM with voice actors, That's why everyone is crossing their arms.

^Because those aren't exactly cutscenes. Those are ingame peds using some generic animations.

 

Both VCS and LCS have quite few real cutscenes. They had a small budget and little time to develop these games, so they couldn't go much further.

Both VCS and LCS have quite few real cutscenes. They had a small budget and little time to develop these games, so they couldn't go much further.

Not even that, I just think the PSP or disc or whatever doesn't have enough space on it for each and every mission to have a unique cutscenes like the other games, so they did motion capture ones for actual relevant or important ones and the rest were just ingame animations. And even then, how unique of a cutscenes can you make when the script just calls for two people talking?

It's weird, but the low budget, less animated cutscenes don't negatively affect the story for me, I still like it a lot. Something about VCS had style, just as unique as VC IMO, but I'm biased when it comes to the handheld titles, that's where it started for me. :)

I never really noticed it in my Playthroughs. Anyway, I never saw an issue with those Animations, also it didn't hamper my liking of the Game.
