I can't understand how a sober grown adult can justify playing video games. Any sober person knows there's nothing to gain from playing & tons of better things to do, how could you suppress that feeling without some mind altering substance that helps fade away reality & allows you to be fully immersed in a virtual world? I'd really like to know the answer to that.

Entertainment doesn't need to have a purpose. It's there as a de-stresser. You get nothing from watching movies or television either, but plopping down to watch your favorite show or play your favorite game allows you to leave your work day behind you.

 

 

 

This 100%. And really, if all a person does is intoxicate themselves, who are they to judge how other people spend their time? Entertainment's no less pointless than drugs/drink, and is a hell of a lot healthier too. At least some people are doing something with their time.

People can take what they want. It's a really s***ty habit, in my eyes, but if people want it they want it.

 

What I don't like, is people pressuring others into doing it by going on about how much drugs they smoke, etc. How it's pushed down peoples throats by the media/TV. I also have a problem with people pretending it's good for you and desperately encouraging others to take up a habit that is a waste of time and imagination. I can accept most of that haha. I just don't like to see people pressured into it, and when people try to make out drugs are good for you, etc. I am not the picture of health myself - I don't do drugs, but I could do with getting out and about more, drinking less Coca Cola, etc. But I don't try to encourage others to follow suit. People should be encouraged to live their life, and not be pressured into thinking there's only one thing in the world everyone is doing (getting high/drunk). It's different in my country, it's really rammed down peoples throats here.
