Why don't people use mic's in GTA online

Pretty much this for my "other" vote, a lot of the time I am speaking with friends who are playing other games.

Being shy is a strange and alien concept to some, but believe me, it is true and not a conspiracy theory.

 

 

Yes I meant to include that in my post but commented too quickly, whilst I may appear confident on here and in person I always feel

a bit shy about chatting on mic unless its somebody I know but I'm getting better at that.

I don't use one because I don't want to, as simple as that. I mute most people with mics anyway; squeakers, singers, music in the background, screaming/yelling, little Muslim kids that won't STFU, etc.

I don't talk to strangers for two reasons most of the time.
1. It is very likely that they are half my age.

2. If not, they probably do different drugs than I do or are braindead for some other reason.

If someone has his mic plugged in in missions all the time, it's more than likely that it's either No. 1 or No. 2. There is no reason to do this. If someone plays a few mission with the same team, or even a heist, and really has to say something, his actions seem reasonable to me and i might reply.

 

Most of the time, i try to avoid kids. Killing them is ok, if they really annoy me for more than 15 minutes it is also ok to request to talk to their parents, but in any other way I don't want to get in contact with them. I have no problem to talk to decent, adult players about the game and anything else, but those usually stay mute for a while and are not really the majority of the playerbase, definitely not of the public mic users.

Seems like the whole of Yankland only puts theirs on to let me hear the newest Lil Wayne tunes. Unfortunately he always comes through all grainy and mumbling, it's either the mic quality or its almost like the record producers/Hollywood execs/Illuminati want American youth to grow up idolising morons to make sure they don't want an education so they can continue not knowing who Monsanto or Tesla are.

I'm awkward and feel uncomfortable speaking in a mic. So I rather have it off. I always stay silent and saying very little. Also, no one ever says anything relevant.

Because the community is full of annoying, ignorant, obnoxious, loud-mouthed, non-English-speaking (no offense, but this is a game made in the U.S.A. that is English speaking, and Rockstar just doesn't do a good job of placing people who speak the same language in the same sessions), stupid, immature, racist, homophobic, flatulent, gluttonous, high, drunk, angry and offensive pieces of human filth who do nothing other than distract me from hearing the good music and excellent sound effects in the game with their blaring, horrible music, crappy quality headset with no noise canceling function, and they're often trying to get their kids to stop crying because they want attention rather than for their dad to stare at the tv playing GTAO, and because they have dogs barking and birds chirping and dumbasses in the background whose first language is English but they can barely speak a lick of it, and you can hear the Doritos crunching in their mouth and the static and feedback from any sounds whatsoever coming from the game, and because frankly... after over two years of this garbage, I am not interested in anything anybody has to say over the mic in this game, unless I am good friends with the person and we are just trying to lay down a heist.

I am in a private party by myself almost 100 percent of the time so it is guaranteed that I will not hear anybody talk and will thus enjoy my gaming experience.

The last thing I want to hear when I am trying to fill up a playlist with over 20 people is for some 13 year old who should not be playing the game at all to tell me to set the rounds to 4 and start the game when the bare minimum number of players necessary to start are present.

This is a stupid poll with stupid options and begs a response that gives the OP the respect he deserves:

Missions, you can solo pretty much all of them so if people die it doesn't matter, and people will die mic or not.

Heist, all you need to do is send host a message "do you have kuruma close to bikes?". That's all the communication you need in heists.

Now I don't generally mean in free-roam as we all know this is ripe with squeakers and there isn't much need for communication in free-roam anyway, especially if you're in a party chat which is why I understand sessions can be so quiet nowadays.

 

I aim this question at the people who join jobs such as heists or contact missions and still remain mute.

Just give me one good reason why i would want to talk to you?

What really grinds my gears is that one guy who doesn't join party chat during a heist. As for free roam luckily for me I have a headset with volume control so whenever there is a loud talkative squeeker , a racist troll or an asshole with a mic blasting sh*t music and can't be mjted all I have to do is turn the volume down

I use it with my crew, but the chat isn't usually for tactics. just random chat and moaning.

If playing with randoms I don't need to communicate, I know what I'm doing so will just cover/carry you (goes without saying). maybe the odd lol text or 'stay in the car'. with random players I take the opotunity to have music playing, so I can't really hear you well anyway

Had to choose "other" because my friends and I speak on Steam chat or Teamspeak, if we stick around in freeroam one of us listens to the in game chat most of the time.

 

The in-game chat is pretty annoying in GTAO, it's not the type of game that should have full lobby open chat imo. It's not only the sugary squeakers that are the issue, it's also those that play with speakers and also ones that leave their mic on even when they're not in use.

 

I would give a BJ to a R* employee if they made it proxy chat with the option to hear friends & crew all the time but I know that wouldn't happen. GTA is the bastion of trolls, flamers, griefers & cheaters... before they graduate to their next call of duty. So for now i'm very grateful we have the option to easily filter communications. I don't blame the mutes since we can normally get things done without words & I don't blame the loud folks either, they can be quite entertaining sometimes.

I don't want to speak to or hear 99.999999999999999999999999999999999% of the players in GTA O.

 

The ones I want to hear and speak to are on my friends list.

 

For some unknown reason, voices can only be heard when I have my headset on. Unplug it, can't hear randoms through my TV no matter what in-game chat is set to. If I have my headset on, I'm in a party. Therefore, I never hear randoms. Winning.

There's really no excuse to permanently be off mic.

 

Here are 12 excuses.

 

1. The console supplied headseat is uncomfortable.

2. I don't want you to hear my missus nagging me to change this or fix that.

3. I don't want to hear you gloating how you killed me whilst I was flipping chanels on my TV to check the cricket scores

4. I don't want to hear the background noise of somebodies screaming baby

5. I don't want to hear the moron who thinks it is funny to say deranged things in a stupid voice

6. I don't want to listen to some god awful rap music being blasted through my headphones by some random imbecile

7. I don't want to listen to the the French, Spanish or Arab guy who only knows two words in English, "F#$k" and "you" and insists on using them endlessly

8. I don't want to listen to the American who tells the non-English speaking players to speak English because the game is set in the USA and that America is greater than their country (which it isn't if my substantial travel experience is anything to go by)

9. I don't want to listen to the German or Swedish guys who think that because they don't speak English they can insult me in the lobby without my understanding them

10. I want to listen to Kenny Loggins - Danger Zone without some kid singing it in my ears

11. I want to let my ears feel cool for a while instead of toasty warm.

12. Beacuse I just don't want to talk to you!

 

13. I don't care to listen to your smoke detector's low battery chirp for the entire session!

I only use my mic when I play with friends plus I have my chat settings on friends only.

I f*cking hate those dads who leave their kids in the room when they game. There are two options:

 

1. Mute your Kinect

2. Get that f*cking kid out of the room!

 

When I'm alone, I will use my mic in Game Chat. When I'm playing with friends or people I met on the forums, I will use my mic in Party Chat.
