Trickser853
Ok, first of all, my name is Niklas, I'm studying programming and would like to get a bit of information for my research paper about "How the community can influence further DLC/Update developement (for videogames) with Mods and Feedback". The best way to support me is by giving me examples that I can look at. What I mean by that is tell me what you think is only in a game because the developer was listening to the community or saw a popular mod that came out. Since I'm posting this in multiple forums, it doesnt even matter what game you're talking about, it can be anything you could possibly think of, but it has to be either a mod that was adapted by the devs or obvious feedback that changed something drastically. To start the conversation I'm going to throw a bunch of games in here to talk about but you can bring up any topic you want. Skyrim Fallout Call of Duty Minecraft GTA Hitman Payday The Last of Us etc. If you bring up a specific topic about a game, there is a possibilty that I don't have a clue what you're talking about. So to prevent this from happening you could write an answer like this: 1.First tell me what game and specific change you're talking about. 2.Tell me why it was a good addition to the game. 3.Why do you think was the change influenced by the community. 3.If you could change anything else, what would it be. NOTE: Please write your answer in a way that somebody who has no clue what game you're talking about would understand it. Serious answers appreciated. Thanks in advance and the best way to support this even more, is telling your friends about it, so they can make a statement, too.
Mr. Scratch
If you want a better idea on how to influence devs thinking regarding DCLs look at games like Left 4 Dead or inFamous 2.

Fireman
Most of the skins from CS:GO come from community "modders" right? I'm saying "modders" since it's a retexture. First thing that comes to my mind is the sprint function in Fallout 4 (though in general I think that it was added to a lot of games after mods were made just to make you move faster). People have just kept making that mod for every released game and voila, there it is (can't recall if it was already in Skyrim, but the point still stands). There's a lot of mods that add common features to games which should've already been there, usually something that the developers just forgot and will add in the next patch (or DLC). I think Rockstar listened to what players wanted based on mods for Vice City, more assets, more roleplaying features, more customisation options (clothing, skins, player replacements). What happened between San Andreas and GTA IV? No idea, but something went wrong there.
Stephan90
Recently there was a patch for the game Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, which Would make it possible for the player to "revive" a character called Quiet, who died in the storyline of the game and was then unavailable as buddy. All the player needed to do was replaying a mission, that introduced the character, several times. The replay missions feature was there from the beginning, only that you could revive her was addded. This was included in the patch because many fans wanted it. GTA V: - i think the first person view mode on next gen and PC was done because the fans asked for it. - there is also a mission that is unlocked after you achieve 100% called "The last one" which contains a reference to Big foot, which many players looked after in GTA San Andreas for a long time. It was one of the most popular gaming myths. Another thing that was a myth in San Andreas and then reality in GTA V were UFOs. So yes, not the same game. But from the same franchise Edited November 26, 2015 by Stephan90
