Getting Cheated by LAG?

OK I'm on PS4 and I am getting frustrated with this Lag issue. It's becoming worse than playing Modders.

 

At least with Modders I knew I was being cheated.

 

I've lost count of how many times I've got the first kill only to be floored 4 seconds later by the apparently dead player.

 

I am thinking of upgrading my Broadband to 'Gaming' speed.

 

My question is; will this help?

 

If I am in a session with 32 players surely anyone with a bad connection will introduce Lag into the session. Is that the way it works? If I have the best Broadband speed money can buy, but I am in a PvP battle with someone with very low speed, surely this will cancel out my own upgrade.

 

I have looked at other (dormant) threads, but one of them is seriously complex. Does everyone need to have good broadband to reduce Lag, or can it be remedied with an upgrade of my own?

 

My broadband is usually OK, and the Lag issue only happens with some players.

 

FYI My PING is averaging 55ms

 

Some advice would be appreciated.

GTA O is one giant lag-fest. Anything over 20 players and you're screwed.

 

The lag issue is down to Rockstar not having dedicated game servers. Doesn't matter how good or fast a connection you have, the game will still lag.

So no point in forking out double cash for BT Infinity then?

It doesn't happen all the time so I guess my speed is ok. It's very annoying though.

My internet speed is nothing special but I get the same amount of lag as others who are using fibre optic which is a hell of a lot faster.

Neither is mine. 4.8mbs DLS.

 

But my 'ping' is apparently quite good. 55ms.

 

I had no idea what 'Ping' was until recently; 20ms is excellent, above 150ms and Lag may be an issue, so I'm somewhere relatively good.

 

I contacted BT yesterday about their Infinity package (36-78 mbs) but the price is more than double what I'm paying now + set-up cost. I would have paid this if it resolved the 'lag' issue, but clearly it won't.
