I stopped off halfway to make a sandwich and a brew and I still did it first attempt with thirty seconds left.

 

Or alternatively it took about ten attempts in all and I scraped by with a second to spare.

This one wasn't too bad. I crashed a half dozen times when trying to do it, sitting on the couch and not paying sufficient attention. After that annoyed me enough, I sat in the front of the TV and did it properly, and it took maybe 3 more attempts. I was expecting the par time to be strict judging by some of the comments here, but I actually didn't find it to be that bad - not nearly as butt-clenching as the one on, say, The Great Ocean Highway. I didn't take perfect lines all the time, and at one point I even drove off the side of the road kind of near the end, accidentally getting behind a concrete barrier and then flying down a small hill, back up another one, and soaring back onto the road! I was expecting A) to crash, and then after I didn't, B) to miss the par time, but I ended up beating it by more than a second. The jump at the end isn't that bad either - I didn't really plan what I was going to do, just cut over when it felt natural and drove straight to the finish line.

 

So about 9-10 attempts in all, maybe took 25 minutes with resets, a lone suicide-by-car, and one break to fix my bike at LSC. Looking forward to the next one - hoping for more offroad madness, as those are much more interesting. I could also go for one in the city like the first was - there's been surprisingly little of that.

R* needs to put Time Trials on Invite Only and Solo sessions and not just Public. I hate to do a Time Trial when an idiot hacker runs amok and forces you to bail out of your vehicle.

I agree with that. I mean why do you have to be in a lobby with other people anyway for them? Besides more people in a lobby means that less traffic will spawn which actually makes them easier to do.

 

I'm not even sure what is R* smoking when they made Time Trials exclusive to Public. Are they seriously unaware of hackers looming around Public sessions? Or did they thought of declaring Public sessions to be "hacker-free" instead of simply implementing it on Invite Only/Solo sessions (which are 100% hacker-free)?

They aren't exclusive to public sessions, they work in crew sessions and if I recall correctly invite too. You just need two people in the session for it to appear

 

 

Except other people don't feel the need to join in a session with another player due to either being busy or have the lack of need to join up another player because they'd rather get victimized by hackers than to get bored by joining up in a safe session (e.g. Closed Crew, Invite Only) where it is free of said hackers. How hard is it for R* to keep Time Trial when playing alone? I'm sure even a 12-year old can code it really easily.

Its not a case of it being hard to code, its done deliberately, just like needing 5 people to start freemode events occurring. I'd presume its done to encourage people to play with others instead of being anti-social.

 

Either way, its no hardship to do them in a crew session, its quite rare for no-one in my crew to be on, so there is always someone around.

1:37.881 on my 1st try whilst having to start at a 90 degree angle because some modder had spawned a ton of cable cars on the front half of the starting point.

Does anyone else think the time trials should expand to include other cars? Right now it seems trials MOSTLY can be done only with a bike or super.

 

Would be more interesting if they did a trial that you had to do in a Sentinel, or a Bison or even a Panto.

Two attempts so far. 1:46 on a Bati 801, and went longer than two minutes with an Adder. I'll keep trying with the Bati but should beat this sometime today.

Yes. I think there should be different par times for each vehicle class. It would certainly make things more interesting.

Or if they just seperated the best times from each vehicle or class even and had a prize for the top 'x' times in each vehicle regardless of the par time...

It's my theory and it's based on nothing. I think the reason for needing 2 players for time trial to appear on the map is due to the " world record" that was supposed to be in these time trials. I think R* tracks "illegal" activity in the server only when it's more than 1 person in the lobby and because of that they could tell if the achieved time was legit, or nah. And knowing R* laziness sometimes i wouldn't be surprised that they simply overlooked/ didn't marked as important and left it be. I mean, you can hit like over 200mph sometimes on a bike by hitting a curb at the right moment so how the hell would that be possible to tell if it's legit or not? Anyway, that's my theory. Anyone has a better one?

^ I dont know man, your still connected to rockstar when playing alone etc etc also they've had problem with world record times since game was released, I remember early ps3 days were races always had cheated wr. They shouldnt bother with that sh*t tbh, always gonna be cheaters getting best times

You might be right. I'm torn... not sure if I want to have a new one every week to keep challenging myself and making money, or if I'd rather get to the last one and have a sense of completion, like "Hurray, no more of these and I beat every last one!" Either way I'd probably be happy. Though part of me is hoping I'll get to the finish line of #22 and get a surprise 1 million dollar bonus for beating them all, or something. If they can reward beating objectives for a month, why not a reward for beating all the time trials? It's probably harder!

I agree. Yesterday i was doing the 'Fly Upside Down Challenge' and halfway through it, everyone in the entire session got blown up. And had their characters frozen.

 

Other than that, this Time Trial is probably one of my favorites.

It was the same for me. The first 2 times I guessed and wished for luck at the end, but fluffed it. After the 2nd fail I actually turned round and had a look at how I *should* have done it. I beat it next try with a few seconds to spare.

 

I don't think it was the easiest one so far, but it wasn't far off.

Yeah, I crashed into the rock as well. While doing a wheelie, I saw some people used it as a jump but it didn't work out like that.
