Friendly and non-friendly lobbies are a must

Friendly: cannot harm other players.

Non friendly: can harm other players.

this removes the need for passive mode and the opportunity to abuse that feature with it.

passive mode is a great feature for griefers to use. Finally crash your jet? No worry, just enable passive and go get another one. Rinse and repeat.

Yes, I could follow them and destroy the hydra before they get into it but there are some circumstances where I won't be able to do that, like if he calls in his zentorno or t20 to drive to his jet spawn while I'll have to wait on the mechanic timer or pointlessly attempt to catch him in a stolen car off an npc or if I spawn somewhere where I'll have to run to a road before I can even call the mechanic while he already spawns on a road and gets a head start.

It all becomes very tedious when you're chasing this guy all over the map to destroy his hydras just so he can't grief you and then jump into passive as soon as he crashes it or if you blow him up.

I think it's easier this way since players who don't want confrontation with other players can join friendly lobbies and still blow up cops or do whatever they want and players who don't mind fighting other players can join non friendly lobbies. The passive mode system is open to abuse and this will solve it.

In my opinion, if you're going to kill other players then you should have to take the fight that comes with it. Just because you've been taken out of your jet or finally been taken off that rooftop shouldn't mean you get immunity while you go get another or return to that spot.

I almost want to agree with you. Being in a friendly lobby would be pretty sweet, just being able to know that everyone you bump into is not going to bend me over for DARING to existence in their presence.

But it would split the playerbase even more than it already has been - which has been a f*cking lot - aiming types, platforms, generation... - I mean come on.

No. Just no.

The current set-up works fine. You want a friendly sessions, start and invite only/

I say that as well but that still leaves ordinary lobbies open to passive mode abusers

Don't do this and your gtao life will be better. The chase is what they want.

I get where you are coming from, but these types of players are low lifes and they would just find a new scum bag tactic. If it's not abusing passive mode then they abuse EWO, or constantly play with the interaction menu open and spam 'X' or 'A' over snacks, or first person spamsman rifle while walking backwards and side to side, while always expecting the opponent to come to you while spamming rockets. or get your whole crew to attack a single low rank player.... ETC, ETC, ETC. Anything to make sure it's not a fair fight no matter what the cost, Spent 30k on rockets just to get one kill? Doesn't matter Cuz it's transferred modded money anyway, just re up on the interaction menu, it's already open anyway, why not?

Bottom line if you are a piece of sh*t, you will be a piece of sh*t, even if passive mode doesn't exist.

The problem is that players like I mentioned in the OP is that they'll come out again once they get in a jet or a tank or something. I don't think it's fair that he should be able to go passive when he finally gets taken out just so he can go and do it again while I can't stop him when he's out

I stayed away from free roam and did missions until I got some decent weapons

Play clever and you'll at least deter them. Homing launcher works quite well as does beating them to their jet or tank or using passive yourself.

LMAO, just yesterday some dude was killing some clowns with his tank and as soon as I start to fly over with my buzzard to put an end to the non-sense, what does he do? you guessed it, went into passive. I started bleeding from the ears just thinking about it.

Won't always be able to beat him to it. If I just called my personal vehicle and then he blows it up but crashes, he could call in his car while I'm still waiting for the mechanic timer and i'll never be able to catch him if he calls his t20 or whatever and I'm in a stolen NPC vehicle. Going passive myself I might as well just leave the session in that case

The problem is most/90% of the players online have no sportsmanship, so while you, me and 3 other people spread out across the lobbies find these types of 'tactics' unacceptable and refuse to use them, everyone else thinks it's 'cool' and makes them 'leet'

So while I refuse to use a spamsman rifle, EWO, snack spamming, passive mode (other than water and piss breaks) and all the other BS i've mentioned before, I don't expect you to have the same sportsmanship, but the second I see you are doing any of those things, I'm out and move on. You are so obviously scared to fight on equal ground and to die in a video game, that K/D has become more important than actually enjoying the game, the game now controls you.

I wonder what a researcher in medicines would do if he has to suggest his ideas in this forum "Use the medicines we already have or die" It's a nice idea and it would allow the use of mods in multiplayer: no fear that something can use some of them to hurt other players ;) Unfortunately, there's no way to suggest anything: R* audience splits in two, those who "the game totally sucks" and those who "the game is perfect the way it is, if you don't like something it's your problem"

Would indeed have been a lot better then this ghostly passive mode. Another reason friendly fire off lobbies in GTA IV more fun 'before modders arived' then GTA V:O will ever be. Even with all the new stuff to do, IMO it still cannot live up to GTA IV's online free mode back in the day.

People are not reading the OP, he is not saying that friendly sessions are a must, but that he would like them as an OPTION.

Which is fine by me. I would like the option of being able to join both friendly and hostile lobbies.

Don't have to read it. Its the umpteenth thread on this topic which is redundant because no more updates will come to last gen and passive mode works fine on current gen.

Why is it so hard to understand?

Friendly lobby = you can choose to join other players who want to play friendly as you do.

Leaving session/ going passive = umpteenth useless answers given by people who clearly can't stand anymore reading stuff on this forum, give no contribute at all and should definitely spend their time on something else.

we just need dedicated servers

Ya, 1 for every item on the wishlist.... that's gonna happen :miranda:

It's a shame Rockstar didn't bring back the 'Friendly-Fire Off' or 'No Cops' sessions from GTA IV.

You want 8 players in the lobby and unlimited opportunities for modders too???

All part of that wonderful P2P gaming expierience.....

I want just drive around the map without worrying about some scumbags destroying my car BUT with being able to shoot peds and interacting with other players. Ofc some call of duty dickhead in paintball always comes in a jet and kills everybody, ruining other people fun.

We just need the lobby selection setup from GTA lV.

Then you get a P2P game, with all the limitations that brings with it...

The rest of the gaming community doesn't agree as there are almost no P2P online games left, its just too easy to cheat!

I think something similar. Aggressive and non-aggressive lobbies.

In non-aggressive, u can still kill people, maybe with a limit, cars are expensive to blow up and if u do it too much u get banned from non-aggressive lobby.

In aggressive lobbies passive mode is off, cops are more lenient and less frequent, u blow up PV´s for free and can basically do all mayhem u want, without the ridiculous dunce-cap, and restrictions in joining jobs with your friends etc.

This would suit all player types i think, cause then people can choose what kind of online experience they want in freemode.
