Tell your friends to leave the lobbie because they make you feel weird.

as someone said. set settings to free aim. auto aim and free aim don't play together. Easiest answer I can think off. Then when you wanna play with them again set back.

Just keep hopping lobbies. Bound to be alone sooner or later.

Totally predictably, the OP got about two actually useful answers and the usual sh*tload of worthless snark, which is the usual ratio in GTAF.

I totally agree with the OP. I have accumulated a fair number of one-time friends by joining random missions and heists, and I want to keep them on the list so that I get more invites to things when I feel like it. But usually, I want to just play for fun and do what I want, without the social obligation of doing mission after mission when a friend finds me in the same session.

Invite Only is a good start, and I use it often, but I also like to drop into public sessions just to see what's happening or to get crates, or whatever. It would be nice if there were a way, as the OP asks, to keep me from automatically dropping into sessions with friends.

EDIT: So I just switch sessions, as has been usefully mentioned above.

Retired Mafia

Set settings to free aim

this is a surprisingly smart and good reply to such a weird question.

You can try the solo session option, but somethings like missions I think don't work. So if you just roaming around, it might work for you. No one can join is my understanding.

Just go ONLINE - SOLO Session

You can however missions I believe from quick jobs etc.'

Invite only doesn't work as your friends can join your session< i have been in invites and my friends show up.

Invite only.
Noob.

I think you the noob or rather a boob

I am exactly the same , sometimes I'm just not in the mood to play with others ,to be honest I think the people who can't play alone are a bit weird , I'm guessing it's all the little kiddies though , prob bit insecure lol

It's worst if your hosting a job of some kind it prevents you from using auto invite

i kinda get a few times anoyed with that to, but yea, the ones that remember me know im a tad associal so they learned to leave me alone....i also give hints i want to be left alone.....after i greet them i generaly just race away :p

edit: if they want to follow me then yea, i dont keep them from doing it

and further i dont think there are douchebags in my contactlist anymore that kill me for a bounty or just like to crash into me.....last one i remember doing that sometimes transfered......bye bye face55_(something ish) :D

Then don't play it, play something else or go invite only.

If you are all in the same crew join a second crew none of them are in. Don't set it as your active crew just use it to find sessions. Now when you start playing make an invite only session then select a member of the new second crew and join that session. They won't know you are there (not your active crew) and you avoid everyone you wish to avoid. Not perfect.

Join a random crew on R* Social Club and look for a crew session or, if lucky, you'll find a freeroam session with crew members and not friends.

I totally get what you mean so...no, it's not a weird question like others say it is. Sometimes you just want to play with no mic on and just do your own thing. Friends can be nagging to do stuff when all you want to do is just mind your own business.

OP you not weird, we all have those times, would be nice if it was more flexible. I keep a very short list of friends who I could probably tell them f*ck off and they wouldn't take it the wrong way, Anyway try the solo invite session option, or free aim option or offline, I think that's all you can do. If you go offline, people probably realize you don't want to be disturbed anyway. Lots of people remain offline permantely and just leave it at that, doesn't resolve your issue though

I know how you feel. I like having friends to play with, but sometimes I just wanna go on a bombing spree in a Hydra and don't want my friends getting wrecked.

Isn't there a block friend option? Never tried it but assumed it would prevent them from seeing you online

Trouble is, as people pointed out, when the game drops you into their session (and there does not seem to be an option to prevent this), they will see a blue friend circle on the radar and they can see your name on the player list.

So you can't really hide. When I simply do the character switch from SP into Online, I get dropped into a friend's session about half the time. Then I have to decide if it's worth changing sessions again, and taking a chance on joining another friend there.

Hi-This-Is-My-Name

you could switch a session when you get in their session. and tell them you sometimes like to play by yourself?
