DianaPetran
Hi,i'm wonder if there is a solution to prevent gta v from crashes,i get error err_gfx_d3d_init every 5 or 10 minutes after i start the game, and weird thng is,the game crash only on latest nvidia drivers (358 and 359). Is there an solution ? if not what the hell are trying nvidia or microsoft to do ? i'm saying that because if i revert back to 355.xx driver the game run fine, without errors, and i belive my PC is not a problem
RoamPT
Try going to Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V and delete the settings.xml I believe the new graphics update arent compatible with your current settings maybe? People have been having problems with the DX10 on nvidia cards playing GTA V. Try that and report back.

Serbian_Wolf194
I've been having this issue for a long while. Since i installed the 358.91 version, i have been able to play without those crashes. If it has worked fine before the update, then i suggest trying to roll back to the driver which was running good. southparkmayor
Im tired of nividia releasing these "game ready" drivers that always crash some game like GTA V or Battlefield 4. For every Stable driver, Nvidia releases 3 bad ones.
Annuit Coeptis
Reinstall the drivers? Unmount and mount your graphic card.
Soulshroude
Anything after 355. is questionable at best. Just set everything to lowest possible, but don't overclock. The bugs in 359 are contradicting the systems graphic memory. Your game will crash if you try to overclock even the slightest bit.
DianaPetran
The problem was fixed by downgrade to Windows 7,its seems that Windows 10 have serious problems with D3D.api ! Now i can play gta v without crash on the newest nvidia drivers
stretchx9
Only 1 issue with 359.06 and Windows10 with auto-updating drivers deferred. It seems to me there's slightly less GPU usage now. I still trust the April 350.12 driver. I never 'rollback', I always use the 'Clean install' option and install only the driver. Could it be the fact that Windows 10 updates faster than Nvidia drivers? I only try out the new drivers.

They change so quickly in a effort to keep up with consumerism it's difficult to know where to turn. For me W10 gave me a massive improvement on FPS over W7 and i've had no problems with drivers. I'm still stuck with the game crashing when i hit the pause menu though. Not sure if it's down to the game or the drivers? Tried everything, twice. Any help would be greatly accepted. DianaPetran
* How about if say to you,to try to downgrade to Windows 7 or 8.1 ? i can bet your problem will be fixed ! Of course in Wndows 10 you get higher FPS,but its the FPS stable ? No,the average FPS its up and down on Windows 10 (34-60),in Windows 7 is betwen 40-50,mostly 45,but in 10 is 30 for 1 sec then is up to 60 for five second the again drop to 30,and that can cause texture pop in and other problems. Nope. It's the other way around for me. W7 was choppy but W10 is a stable 60fps. You can see for yourself in my youtube video. stretchx9
* How about if say to you,to try to downgrade to Windows 7 or 8.1? I can bet your problem will be fixed! Of course in Windows 10, you get higher FPS,but is the FPS stable ? No, the average FPS its up and down on Windows 10 (34-60) In Windows 7 it's between 40-50, mostly 45, but in 10 it's 30 for 1 sec then is up to 60 for five seconds, then again drop to 30, and that can cause texture pop-in and other problems. You did not mention anything about your hardware. Because of that I can only generalize my comments. Massive frame rate drops are most likely caused by either a combination of Vsync and your PC not being able to keep the frame rate above 61 fps or audio driver conflicts. As you may well know, this game constantly changes the GPU loading. However, consider this: Perhaps your PC's hardware is powerful enough but not adequately optimized. This morning I was playing the game with a single GTX970 at 4K dsr with reduced settings (to stay within VRAM limits) which means textures, shaders and shadow quality were set only on high and the rest of the settings were on normal, midrange or simply off with exception of reflection quality, which I can't drive without it being on very high. My frame rate varied between 73 and 85 topping out at around 110 at times. There were no texture pop-ins and the game play was just as fluid as last week when I was running it with the old W8 350.12 drivers. The massive amount of detail was incredibly sharp and completely free of jaggies, tearing, ghosting and stutters. This was not the case when I was using the 8.1 ship wreck last summer. I've never played this game on W7 but on W10, it runs perfectly. Overall system optimization and a clean registry is the key to success. Switching back to W7 gave you a leaner and cleaner registry which probably brought your system closer to being in an optimal state. I'm using the 359 drivers without the other caveats Nvidia stuffs into their driver installs. I am also using a 24" 144hz monitor and my CPU is an AMD FX8350.
