Are events even worth it if you dont win?

Been wondering if the events are even worth chasing if you cant come first place.

 

Are they cost/value effective if you get nothing out of them?

Criminal damage pays good for top three placings, and is cheap if you have a Hydra or Rhino with Pegasus.

 

Air/land checkpoints are good if you have a Heli/Jet/Car. Costs nothing and you get roughly $400-1000 per checkpoint.

 

Ditto for inverted challenge payouts pretty good.

 

The 5 minute challenges are where the payout is small for second/third. Vehicles stolen, bike wheelie, bail out of car. Think you get about $5k and winner gets $10k.'

 

If you're not top three but participate you get $2k.

Same here, it's something new and i enjoy almost them all but definitely not worth doing'em for money... when i need cash, i do heists or easy contact missions and then go AFK if i'm playing solo

The events in my opinion aren't really worth it. The rewards are too low for the effort. Completing all checkpoints as beast should payout 75k-100k not no 35k or 45k with the entire session on your ass.

Jesus some of you guys are career orientated in this game! You must have been a real blast at the actual sandbox back in the day.

Criminal damage paid me 25k or so, used only grenades and ammo, worth way less than 10k. Close to five I'd guess. Few minutes of frantic action could meet you thousands, and they are usually absolute blast. Ammo is cheap if you think even a little bit what weapons you use.

I participate to free roam events for fun, when I want to make money then I do Pac Standard with friends or just do missions solo. But I agree some fr events should have higher payout.

I remember a time when people measured the value of playing games in 'fun', not 'cost effectiveness'.

I was the beast for the first time today, nearly got all the checkpoints. When I got the third to last check point and there were about three minutes left my blip didn't come off so I had like 5 players after me. Got sticky bombed to death, If I knew the blip wasn't gonna come off I would've just went guns blazing to the final two around the Rockford Hills LSC. Only got 7k for 8 checkpoints, think I should've got at least 10k.

 

It was fun, every time I got a checkpoint I would go in the opposite direction of where I planed to go and when my blip went off I'd rush to the next check point. I think the events are a really needed addition to free roam, I won the sniper kill challenge and got like 9 or 10K, won it at the last minute too. I think the payouts also depend on how many other people participate in whatever's happening.

Lately I've been able to play for a while on public lobbies, and I do enjoy them even if I don't win, it's something different to do and gives a bit of challenge.

Considering the amount of hackers in every session.

 

Today I was doing a top speed challenge, and almost won... then a hacker in the last 15 seconds somehow jumped their car from Zero, to 253mph in less then 2 seconds, immediately taking first place... and then with 10 seconds on the clock, a second hacker immediately jumped in going zero to 336mph, in less then 1 second... thus taking first place and knocking the previous guy to second place.. with me in third... and I got beat by the original non-hacker guy who was originally in 2nd behind me when he somehow got 1 - 2 extra mph out of his bati 801, probably going down hill and thus I got knocked out of the running.

 

Did hunt the beast the other night... the Beast turned out to be a hacker...

 

He used a Teleport Hack, to jump to each of the check points, instantaneously... thus making it absolutely impossible for anyone to catch him.

 

Tried the parachute challenge a few nights ago... except that every time someone tried to fly up in a plane or helicopter, a hacker would blew them out of the sky; then took first place for himself in the last 15 seconds of the challenge... no one else placed second or third.

 

How about the No Crashes challenge? Easy enough right? Just grab a good bike and go racing up the highway around the island. Works perfectly, easy win, right?

 

Wrong, not when you got hackers in your Session, who spawn buses, Cargo Planes, Ferris Wheels and Flying Saucers to fall out of the sky, land on the road right in front of you and block your path or force you to crash! Oh, right, and they then make themselves able to simply pass right through the obstacles somehow, and win the Challenge.

 

Hackers are getting worse, and worse by the day and it seems R* just isn't interested in doing anything to stop them...

i do not get why some of you pc guys and girls on this forum do not simply become friends and sh*t and then go play in invite only sessions....

i mean, you can have hundereds of contacts when playing pc right ?

from there you can filter out all hackers, glitchers and grievers there are

I find most of the freeroam events as fun as a Justin Bieber concert. Would like the old ones back to be honest.

I'm up for variety but I'm not a competitive type, I prefer coop.

Some of the events are worth it. Not for the money, but for the entertainment. Of course, this is assuming a hacker doesn't ruin it for everyone else. But in particular, I enjoy any and all of the King of the Hill events, as well as Hunt the Beast. Personally, I'm more of a competitive player, so these events are right up my alley.
