How does one play ORIGINAL vice city in 2015 ?

explain why i had to pay $25 for a broken version of san andreas :panic: the controls are broken, the music is broken, if the licenses are in issue f*ck 'em,... take the music out of the game completely.... don't have these awkward goofy '' fast forwarded'' versions of songs that have been cut due to greed of the music exces.... take them out altogether, it's makes the radio annoying as f*ck to listen too......

anyway that's what happened when i bought san andreas on xbox live ......and even if i was desperate as f*ck (i am).... vice city isn't even available on the xbox store anyway.... :facedesk:

ps3 isn't backwards compatible.....i called my local ebgames to ask them about it, they don't sell 80gb consoles anymore :(

so what are my options here ? i tried amazon they claim to be selling ''brand new'' ps2's for $200 but of course..... they don't ship to australia.....

if i hit up a pawn shop or ebay it's a huge gamble as to how long the console will last if it all.... amazon claims to have warranties atleast.......

i doubt my laptop will be able to handle a game, plus if it can i'd need to be able to plug it into my t.v and play with a proper control, f*ck playing a 40+ hour game on a keyboard and laptop screen.... that's not happenin'......

so what are my options here ? I really want to play this game, but i'm not good with computers so i'm not dealing with that headache.... and i'm not buying a console for a game that's missing features.... (the psn version if it still exists )

is their anyway i can play this game in 2015 ? and am i the only person who thinks this whole thing is a disgrace.... ? I've already proven i'll meet them halfway and re buy a game i already own..... so why cant they do the same for us ? and allow us to buy it, i'm trying to give them money ffs..... this shouldn't be an issue LOL

Definitely agree with you on the broken-as-f*ck San Andreas that's on the Xbox Marketplace, and advise everyone to stay well away from it. So broken it makes the game unplayable in areas.

To answer your question though, the PS3 isn't disc-backwards-compatable, but they do have Vice City on the PSN store, in the classics section. Pretty cheap last time I checked too. Apart from that, pretty sure you can pick a cheap PS2 up from somewhere if you look hard enough...Online, local markets...? It's the way I play it still...

I'd just risk it with a cheap PS2 tbh. SA is pretty much a wreck on just about every modern platform, though considering its age, that's no surprise. VC doesn't seem to have as much problems though... But I'd still risk it with a PS2.

but i'm not good with computers so i'm not dealing with that headache...

Then suffer...

Seriously, when'll console players realise, it's time to switch over to the PC for these old games, instead of, goddamn outdated consoles.

Also, Its not a headache to make it run / play on PC. In fact, its much easy with the following benefits:

- f*ckin' MODS! There are a lots, and lots of mods that correct a lot of issues of these classics, and improve into a masterpiece. It applies to GTA III, VC and SA modifications.

- Best graphics, smooth performance and [email protected] resolution

- HD experience but once you modofy the textures and other details with the graphics mod

- The modded 3D games literally blow GTA IV and V out of the water.

You're asking if their is anyway to play this game in 2015, then decide to play the games on PC.

That's the best way :^:

Yep, PC is the best option. It's available on Steam for $10. I got it on sale for much less.

It should run on most low-end computers today.

You make very valid points and i'm reconsidering it, i honestly am, I checked if my laptop is capable of running the game and it seems to be as far as i can tell....

however i still have those same 2 issues

1. can i play the game with my xbox 360 controller ? if seems to plug into my laptop fine and it responds when i test it... but how do i know if it'll work in game ?

2. if i plug my hdmi cable into my laptop and t.v will the game play on my t.v ? might seem like a silly question, i know it works online/ during general offline use, but maybe games are different ? i wanted to buy access to a football stream, but they have a hdmi blocker installed because the thing was designed for mobiles..... i saved $100+ because of their stupidity LOL

bonus question.... does anyone know if the vice city on the rockstar warehouse site is edited ? or unedited ? if it's edited is their a safe trustworthy site i can buy it from unedited ?

1. Why you want to pick a controller than the superior mouse on laptop/PC?

Sure, if it's limited to driving then you will have to either wait for more inputs, or simply google search for the cobtroller question, since I have never used any controller for playing these games on PC.

Check out:III|VC|SA] Mod Index to make these games better.

This [REL|ASI|SA]GInput mod might help you out with controller problems.

But this article - GTA: San Andreas Steam update removes songs, resolution options will be helpful to clear many of your doubts. The latest SA version seems to support it, but I can't say anything more since I play the oroginal version 1.00 physical copy of SA.

Most of the things for all three classics can be addressed once you give a look at the MOD INDEX, which I linked above.

2. Yeah. I think you can play on TV. But I can't confirm this, since I play on PC. Common sense tells me, you should be able to play on TV with some additional workarounds required as I have read about these old games not compatible with modern TVs for some reasons, but I could be wrong though.

I would recommend playing on TV as well, to avoid the hassle of charging the laptop's battery.
