Post your favorite game endings here. My personal favorite game ending was Metal Gear Solid 3's ending. A very moving and touching ending. A cinematic masterpiece. Also MGS2's ending left me speechless with Snake's speech at the end. Both these endings share a massive lesson to life, especially MGS2's.

Also GTA IV and RDR's ending get a massive nomination too. :)

Oh, picking one favorite is pretty much impossible. I like MGS3's and RDR's endings as much as everyone. From newer games, I can add Quiet's ending from MGSV to the list, that one hit really, really hard. Other than that, I can bring up The Lost and Damned, Mass Effect 2, Max Payne 3 or Connor's ending in Assassin's Creed III as some of my favorites. But the one ending that deserves a special mention, in my opinion, is AC: Revelations'.

I've always thought that AC Revelations was the weakest in the Ezio saga, but the ending did really just flow in tears to my face.

Although I love the endings of GTA IV, RDR, most of the AC games etc it's probably a bit cliche to put those above others so whilst I admire them for me the best ending I've experienced recently has to be Life Is Strange.

Just wow. It takes a lot to get me teary eyed, but Life Is Strange achieved it tenfold.

Man, I gotta try Life is Strange, but I'll have to wait for 2016 for the retail edition. :( I've seen the game myself, and Chloe is an amazing character, Ashly Burch deserves to win Best Performance Award this year at The Game Awards.

It looks like there'll be a special edition too. Seriously I would buy it again and spend the extra money on the special edition even though I already have it downloaded.

The score, the artbook, and the director's commentary seems to be worth the buy. Also all 5 episodes too. I'm gonna need a box of tissues with this game.

I love the MGS1-MGS3 endings. 1 had a happy ending feeling to it but I like the message it trys to tell. Same thing with MGS2 but you're also left with so many questions where as snake mentions to find it for yourself. (Also Snake's speech is anzing). MGS3's ending left me sad which is rare.

I also like GTA IV's and RDR' endings. Not to mention TBOGT.

That's how you end a game.

And speaking of AC, if you've played Unity then this is something of a unique ending for the series and definitely one of my favorites.

I'm quite a pessimist myself, but I also prefer pessimistic endings over "happily ever after endings" since they're usually more original and thought-provoking then when everything goes as planned. Great examples of this are obviously Mafia, the greatest of all time;

L.A. Noire did a great job as well, making me frustrated and angry at the end. which was the first time a end of a game made me feel like that. Thumbnail had a spoiler so had to put it in spoilers;

Sanitarium's ending was a huge twist and you had to play the game again to realize what exactly what was going on, I wrote an entire story about how each part of the game fits into the twist at the end, but I love those kind of endings as well.

Creed Bratton

- Mass Effect 2 (I know it's a bit of a cliffhanger but it was an amazing ending nonetheless)

- "Happy" The Witcher 3 ending

And the absolute winner is the "bittersweet" The Witcher 3 ending.

It's a rare thing for a game series to end on such a high note. And two out of three major endings are satisfying. I just prefer the bittersweet one:

Only because it caught me completely off-guard and had the balls to do what it did.

I've always loved the triumphant ending to A Link to the Past as well.

1. Oh yeah, Mafia - City of Lost Heaven!

Any list is incomplete without this game, be ending, or anything else.

2. Planescape: Torment - This is a bit difficult to explain the reasons. Its a lot about the experience and the journey to realise the impact upon the player. Read here for some of the reviews about this masterpiece. If you like it, then play it yourself to decide about the ending.

3. Thief - The Dark Project. The ending is quite simply amazing. Setting a stage for the sequel like no other game in my opinion.

4. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. I think this is one of the very, very, verrrry rare game that has a non-linear quest line with 5 different endings. If people think GTA IV / RDR has the best story or even writing, then clearly they've never experienced this brilliant C&C, great atmospheric storyline.

5. GTA VC. Oh yeshhhh... In a GTA F, how could I dare to not mention a GTA Title in the list.

Darksiders. I'm not sure if it is my absolute favorite, but it's definitely at the top somewhere.
And it isn't very cool if you just watch it, you have to play through and understand the story to understand why it is so epic.

War, the horsemen of the apocalypse finally destroys the one who started the apocalypse prematurely. The council's(the group that keeps the balance between heaven and hell and is found out to have been behind this whole apocalypse thing to start with) servant(Watcher) that was with War the whole time is now trying to kill War before breaking the seventh seal(which would restore the horsemen's true power and turn on the council), but the horsemen is instead killed by Uriel, fulfilling her oath to kill War, breaking the seventh seal at the same time. War now comes back at full strength and kills the Watcher.

Now the epic part is right after, Uriel talks to War and asks what he will do? Heaven and Hell both hate War. She says something like, "would you wage this war alone?"
War turns around and says, "no, not alone" and the camera zooms in behind him to show 3 rocks falling to earth, each signifying the color of the other 3 horsemen.

Now I've beaten Darksiders probably 5 times now and watched the ending another 5 times on top of that on youtube. I still get chills watching it, just imagining how epic it would be to see all 4 horsemen together at full strength. I really hope the third game is secretly being made right now.

Persona 3

You, the main character sacrifices his/her life to save the entire world from Death itself, sealing it inside you forever.

Aside from MGS2 + 3 as mentioned I really don't like any game ending. The only memories I have are usually of emptyness and feeling incomplete and even like the endings in my favorite movies usually just remind me that the film is about to be over and the fresh new feeling it had at the start has totally gone.

The only thing that ever even comes to mind of anything remotely recent was Hotline Miami 1+2.

Or possibly Hitman Blood Money, f*cking loved all that white house sly sh*t.

I'd put Halo:Reach up there. Not the best Halo game by any means, but that ending was as badass as you can get.

Fans of the Spec Ops: The Line always seem to focus on the "going home" ending, but as far as I'll always concerned be concerned, this here's the real ending.

From what I see, fans focus on the suicide ending

Anyways, the ending to AC4, AC Revelations (ezio finding altair'a body just sent chills through my body), TWD, TFTB (he may have been a dangerous psychopath, but I'm gonna miss handsome Jack) the ending to Arkham Knight
