Algonquin Assassin
I'm curious because that's what I am. A curious cat. For me my settings are as follows. 360 btw. Brightness: Max. Contrast: Almost to its max, but with a bar left to spare. Saturation: Turned all the way down. Overall this gives the game the rustic/septia kind of look that I've always preferred. I've tried it with everything turned up with a similar colour palette to TBOGT, but IMO it makes everything look weird and too cartoonish. CodeRedBruh
On PC. Aost everything high or max, but shadows turned off because they almost break the gameplay.
Special Members
All one bar above default. Makes it not as dark and dull, but still doesn't make it look too bright and cartoony.
X-Vector
Outside: - v1.0.7.0 through Steam - XLiveLess 0.999 beta 7 - Clean IV v1.21 - SMAA through SweetFX (0.08/48/16/0) - Dynamic Framerate Control at 60 FPS in RadeonPro - AMD Radeon Water Fix - Bullet Spread/Recoil Fix v1.1 - Realistic Driving EFLC v1.3 (normal car damage/deafault helicopters/additional files) - EFLC PC Quality Texture Update v0.2 - nomemrestrict/norestrictions/restrictapp 0 in commandline.txt - all "bloom" settings at 0 in visualSettings.dat Inside: - Clip Capture off - Autosave off - "Brightness": two ticks left of the middle - "Contrast": one tick right of the middle - Saturation: middle position - Video Mode: 1280x960 (85Hz) - Aspect Ratio: auto - Texture Quality: high - Reflection Resolution: high - Water Quality: very high - Shadow Quality: high - Night Shadows: off - Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x16 - View Distance: 50 - Detail Distance: 50 - Vehicle Density: 50 - Definition: on - Vsync: off That's it, I guess. Took a lot of tinkering (and initial frustration), but it's now running at 60 FPS circa 90% of the time with occasional dips to low 40s at worst and it looks rather nice. In terms of visual tweaks I've opted for a relatively subtle approach; I hate the typical ENB/iCEnhancer mods with their bloomy, desaturated, insanely high contrast look - I really don't understand why so many gamers are intent on showing off their complete lack of taste to the world. Gummy
Brightness: Lowest Contrast: Lowest Saturation: Lowest 1280x720 is dark It is dark, and GTA IV is dark, and Liberty Cuty is dark, and the story is dark, and the inside of Kate McReary's pussy is pretty dark too I think. My settings helps enhance the darkness... Edited November 22, 2015 by Gummy theGTAking101, Payne Killer, SchizNitz and 4 others
sammystarock
My settings helps enhance the darkness... You are right, setting the contrast and saturation to the lowest is very atmospheric. Here are my settings: Since I own GTA IV, I always change the settings, trying to enhance the gaming experience, but I think that I now found the settings to go with. I essentially optimized the game in order to get rid of the huge amount of aliasing and jaggies, which as I think are the biggest graphical flaws in GTA IV. I am using injectSMAA to get rid of the most rough aliasing, a downsampled resolution of 2880x1620 to get MSAA and I turned off the definition, which at this resolution doesn't blur out the game too much, but once again gets rid of some additional jaggies. I also modded the FarClp in timecyc.dat from 1500 to 3000 in order to get endless draw distance.
Legomanarthur
This is my setting on PC: Gosh that game is still looking great, and I don't even want to install any graphic mod.
Ducard
Brightness - default contrast - default saturation - turned all the way up. No graphic enhancers, timecyc tweaks, nothing. I'm part of the minority that loves the look of the vanilla game. Interested in using your settings though MVC. Sounds pretty cool. Jeansowaty
Everything on medium I think... though the car density I had to lower A LOT. These mods rly can cause some crazy issues, though they're gone when you don't do a lot the game plays flawless too, minimal FPS drops happen when I kill lotsa cops though that's not always the case. RogerWho
I wanted to post this question but found this You should add a poll. I use these strange settings on PS3: Brightness 0, Contrast 10, Saturation 4. Of course the contrast setting is reversed since higher number actually decreases the contrast. I use these settings mostly because it's the only way to have the sun not be blown out. It's kind of like HDR, where both highlights and shadows have good detail preservation. Yea it makes the image look washed out, but it also fits the mood well and doesn't make my eyes tired. Also the saturation is just right for the mood. In comparison to that, I remember GTA V giving me headaches at first due to the image being too contrasty and bright. Now I get the same when I switch IV to the default settings. RAGE doesn't exactly have the most eye-friendly renderer I think. Edited November 23, 2016 by RogerWho

Nah man, now I got me a gaming PC, I'm getting me one of those CryENB mods for IV, I want that sharpness and smoothness this time, that blurry sh*t can take a long walk. Liberty City will look like my ultimate NYC gaming dream in that mod. Still gotta get through V and it's amazing mods first.
