Will we be able to transfer our gta online progress to gta 6?

Same character but he loses his money and has to start over in a new location. After getting back on his feet, and maybe reaching a certain level he unlocks access back to Los Santos where u go on several missions to recoup ur characters assets (apts and cars). Assets in Los Santos stay in Los Santos unless you fly using an unarmed flying vehicles.

Just a thought in how they can start everyone on even footing in the new game, but keep the progress going from gta5

I hope it starts over

It's fun being a billionaire, having every super with every mod and a Pegasus list longer than your arm, but compared to the excitement when I bought my first sports car, unlocked the sniper rifle etc. those felt like real achievements

I would hate to have everything on day one

Kinda the point is, it's not day one. More just a continuation. I would absolutely hate starting over. Maybe they can give us the option whether to continue or start over.

Hummm, not sure it would be a good idea. To much money and heavy armourment hanging around

And to many modded accounts transfered from last gen. Best people can hope for is a nice little bonus from playing GTA V.

I guess like most of us on this forum, I definitely want to see GTA 6 in the next few years. But where will it take place, nobody knows.

I'm hoping Rockstar use one of the other cities in GTA History and then allow us to fly back and forth between those cities and transfer our vehicles. After two years of constant development, imagine just dumping Los Santos and Blaine County and starting all over again? It makes no sense to me.

Isn't gta 6 supposed to be set in the 1980s? Idk how you can transfer a character set in modern times to the past? You will have to start a new person up from scratch.

Exactly, except it'll be 5 plus years into Los Santos.

Is it? I have not heard that. If that's the case I may never play GTA online. Just the story.

Most likely not. GTA 6 is still years away and might not even be set in the same time period. We literally dont know anything about it yet and GTA Online will probably be shut down by then. GTA 6 will have improved graphics, different gameplay elements and so on. Its a different game: You dont expect your San Andreas savegames to work with GTA 4 either, do you?

Could be, but honestly I'd rather start from scratch than having all the money and items already.

i'd normally agree but if they can manage to have us going from low life rich thugs to actual organized crime bosses in the next game then I might want a transferred character just to keep our characters "story" going forward... if you know what I mean.

It's always nice to see our old character on new hardware / software imo.

Lol... That is nothing but hopeful speculation, and the source is known for milking whatever they can where they can.

No one knows where GTA VI is going to be, no one knows if it's gonna be set in the 1980's, no even knows if there is going to be a GTA VI! Don't even get me started on the Ryan Gosling rumours, a fanboy started that and the media picked up on it... Smh

Well I hope that:

- we can use are current progress both in GTA 5 and 6. As in we keep everything but only difference's is the map. For example if we insert the GTA 6 disk into our console and enter online it will automatically pick up our GTA 5 data from the cloud and use it for GTA 6 and then if we put the GTA 5 disk back into our console it will automatically pick up our GTA 5 data from the cloud and use it... If that makes sense :p

Makes sense to me. Keep things in the current day, no zipping back to the 70s or 80s, and allow us to transfer between the GTA 5 and GTA 6 maps. There's no reason why Rockstar can't brush up the graphics on GTA 5 to keep it in-line with the new GTA 6.

What would be nice though would be a seamless travel system between the new maps, instead of hitting LSIA and loading into a new area. I'd like to be able to get in a vehicle and physically travel to the new map.

Remember also that GTA online is not the same thing as GTA story mode, so Rockstar can implement GTA online in different ways to the fixed story mode and map that they'll no doubt use for GTA 6.

Foxy Stevenson

i apologize if this question has been asked before but...do you think we can transfer our gta online progress to gta 6 online?

Dude the pc version of gta 6 is going to be delayed until 2020 and you are already thinking about tranfering holy sh*t.

It's because the boob physics aren't working like they should and the 8k res still lags on the highest end computers.

At a guess I'd say no. New game, new map, new character. At the most perhaps we'd be able to import our character but only as a skin, without the rank or any assets. It wouldn't make sense for everybody to turn up day one with Hydras and full garages and besides all the vehicles will most likely be changed anyway.

During the tutorial for GTA:O:2 your character from GTA:o:1 finally gets busted and goes to prison for all the crap he/she did in San Andreas. They are imprisoned in a government facility in Cuba.

The player is then given the option to pay $10 for "The Prison Break DLC" in which you can break your old character out of gitmo. Your rank will carry over but you can only have as much cash as you can bury in a plastic bag by the beach.

Otherwise, (if you don't buy the DLC) you start with a clean slate in Vice City

given thus far the game world hasn't expanded at all I think it's fairly safe to say the ever expanding / evolving / persistant / other buzz words used for the game world is not happening.

another way to look at it. 2 years ago gtao the time was 6 months prior to the events of gta5.

2 years later it's still 6 months prior to the events of gta5. in 2 years the game world has not moved forward a single day. and that's why it never evolves or expands.

if they do indeed add online for 6 it needs a hell of a lot more structure than what it currently has, at the minute gtao is essentially the same as playing vice / san andreas for years and not doing a single story mission to progress. nothing you do means anything nothing you do progresses or shapes the game world in any way.

someone who hasn't played in the last 18 months or so could log on today and would still be in the exact same place as every other player, simply because there is no structure or progression. and that's why people stop playing it. everyday is the exact same as the day before,

if 6 does have online I hope its a lot more structured and coop centric, coop has been a hugely wanted feature since like vice city, and was highly requested when 5 was first known to feature 3 main characters. the ability to play as micheal with a friend as franklin or trevor sort of thing, was a very hot topic

The hell is this guy talking about? you are saying there is no progress like its A. It's a negative thing and B. There is meant to be some kind of story in gta online - there is no story, what online mode do you know of with a genuine story? Guess what? Nothing you do is meant to have any significance, It's mindless multiplayer fun, that's it, the story is for sp, there is absolutely no story and there shouldn't be, rockstar are kind enough to make cutscenes etc to make the mindless fun a bit more interesting but sorry, this is what it is, people like you have wrong expectations for gta online and this silly thinking also gives you some kind of entitlement

If you didn't play in the last 18 months you would not be in the exact same place as every other player, 1st of all you would a massive amount of dlc to download and would not have the items every1 else has to name a few things

Gta online does have co op so I dunno what you are on about there...

People stop playing for all sorts of reason but after you finish a game that is story driven then what? Replay? That's cool but that's is not the allure of gta online, it's playing with friends, it's social interaction, freedom, creativity, unpredictability, mindless fun that has no real effect in anything, you can die, re spawn and it's brand new again

I'm not some mad fanboy that thinks gta online is perfect but I use common bloody sense

GTA VI will be a whole new and different game which will (assumably) include a different GTA Online. Why would Rockstar let us transfer data from one game to a whole other?

Did Rockstar let me transfer my progress from GTA IV MP to GTA Online? Nope. Did Treyach let me transfer progress from Black Ops 2 to Black Ops 3? Nope.

- Because it's a new game, which means a new start.

I hope for no transfer. I have restarted with 5 different accounts since launch. Starting from nothing is the challange of the game for fighting players not endless progression past level 150. But some like playing it safe. I see no need to take useless things to a new game years from now. Everything will be different like character creation, vehicles, weapons, ranking, etc.

^^^ So much this

It would suck to not have any of your previous progress but it would also be boring if you have everything unlocked from the start.... So I agree to something along the lines of the quoted post... Sounds fair and sensible IMO

I don't necessarily agree with having to do missions in LS to get our assists back, but ranking up to something like level 20 before you can access everything back in LS sounds like a fair balance.... Once allowed to go back to LS, no matter which locale your in, Johnny and Pegasus can deliver your cars/assists regardless of apt and garage locations...

GTA IV MP and GTA Online are actually to different things... One is a game and the other isn't, you can actually buy GTA:0 as a standalone (no V required)...

GTAIV:MP was basically a LC ped-simulator... You were just a random pedestrian in LC doing random crimes or not.. an expendable, a no name, Joe Schmoe with no background or future.... Nothing you do matters and nothing you've done effected or explains anything from IVs storyline unlike how the opposite can be said for GTA:0.

Now, GTA:0 in fact is actually a completely separate game unlike IV:MP... V's online actually has a story and your character isn't just a random from LS. Instead you've got a person from out of town trying to make it big by choosing to start their journey in San Andreas... As you play you're developing your characters background and actually making recorded progress that would essentially shape the future for them in newer titles/additions...

Everything from Level 12 and down is 6 months before the events in SP and everything after the moment you do your first heist is 6 months after SP (that's the canonical 'reason' why Benny and other things that were added are not in SP)

The world is an evolving* world so everything online from here on out will always the "same" GTA Online, not some 'new' or spin-off sequel to GTA:0. So if 6 were to have an online, it will most likely be an extension of the online's existing game world and I assume they'll allow us to somewhat transfer our progress in that case.

I believe GTA Online will continue to exist alongside GTA 6 so a transfer will certainly be possible. If you want the challenge of starting over then the solution is simple: don't transfer your character. Or make two characters.

Yeah, I see where you getting at, and it's not a bad idea obivously, I just wouldn't get my hopes up to high. Their prime objective on any future title of the series should be to work on the game's stability, I rather not have another mess on Online's launch like it was the case in 2013...

The small improvements I feel are what will make the difference in the long run, anything else is an extra, to me at least, I'm not a greedy person :)

Look everyone, this guy has heard it. EVERYBODY HEAR THE TRUTH!!!

Seriously though, lets first just wait until the first teaser stuff is released and a trailer before we start to speculate about anything. And we all know R* ain't dumb enough to let us transfer GTA $ to the next GTA. Next gta will have a whole new batch of SharkCards.

Which is why it is so important to buy GTA 6 on release date, so you can abuse the first cash glitches which most of the time are the big $ glitches, buy anything you want and then have some fun.

IMO the first few months on GTA were the most fun months. GTA today feels like its been dumbed down so damn much.
