I'm of the opinion that the "Mark" naming convention is a bit tacky, especially on your average road vehicles. But no doubt the Classic/Retro naming system is also problematic - see the curious cases of the Virgo, Youga, and Jester. Rockstar's naming scheme doesn't really work out to be analogous to how real-world models are named, and I understand they're trying to keep vehicles distinct for the sake of gameplay, but for those enthusiasts among us, it's a weird, artificial division. Variants of the same model having subtitles is OK, like the Roosevelt Valor or Tornado Rat Rod, but changing the Elegy or Comet into completely different models and just appending "Safari" or "Retro Custom" on their names is... weird.

 

I like the model year concept. Take the Albany Emperor as an analogue to the long-lived Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, the model we have now would be an "Albany Emperor '77", but if they added a later model it might be an "Emperor '90" rather than receiving a whole different name. Similarly, the Issi Classic would be the "Issi '69" and the Glendale might be renamed "Schafter '75". For model variations, the model year would be retained - "Tornado Custom '57" or "Apocalypse Impaler '67" - to prevent any conflict with varieties of other model years. It isn't perfect, such as when real-world models overlap - Jeep Wagoneer, anybody? - but I think it's a lot cleaner than the vague systems we've got now.

I think i prefer the thing that older GTAs did where every car had a different name if it was possible, and it was up to interpretation whether two cars were a part of the same model line or not, though to be honest it was also up to interpretation (except for willard) which manufacturer each car belonged to. Second best solution is to do what GTA IV did (and i guess what V is trying to do when bringing back cars that were realized in one of the 3d games already in a very recognizable way) which is just label the new cars with what we can only assume is a generation specific trim level (e.g. Sabre GT, Coquette Blackfin, Schafter V12, Rancher XL, Faggio Mod, you get the idea)

I would like it if they gave us a two-engined Tula. I love the Tula, but not the four engines. It should be two like the Grumman Goose on which it is based. Also, it would be nice to remove the cannon from the front and just have the thing as a fixed wing aircraft with optional wing pontoons, not VTOL. 

 

 

Also, I would like it if they added the Transavia Airtruk

I'm stoked about the Sultan Classic but you know what would be even better? Sultan Retro, based on the 22B STI with bits of Lan Evo thrown in. A Sultan coupe would be dope. Also, can we finally get the fourth gen Coquette back? Bringing it from Liberty City to L.S. can't be too hard, they did it with countless other cars. And can we get a third gen as well? Would love to do up a C3 Corvette all 70's street machine style with wild paint, side pipes, and some chrome Torq Thrusts.

To be honest, why is it Buccaneer "Classic" if technically this Riviera (the one which the GTA4 version is based off)...

is newer than the Riviera we have today?

 

It even states in the Wiki that the GTA4 version is the "second generation" and the GTA5 model is the first.

 

Then again, Rockstar's naming of car models/versions is pretty messed up.

I said i don't care about the names. They can give us a new JB 700 and call it the Nagasaki Turismo Turbo Brute Boxville BJ 700WTF S Retro Classic Custom Mk Vlll, i'll be happy if this one is actually good for something ...

Basically an off-road Armoured Kuruma in function. No explosive resistance, but completely BP windows with the armoured window upgrade. Without it, just BR windows like the armoured Schafter. Moderate performance and pace in off-road class. Bland diesel sound from the standard Landstalker.

So I was in an Xbox party with a fellow car enthusiast a few nights ago and he pointed something out to me that really opened my eyes. 
 

He stated that “Rockstar adds cars that we want so badly and make them look and handle like crap because they know we’ll still buy it anyway. Anything that we don’t really want, they’ll make it look almost identical to the real car and perform great just to make us buy it more”

 

I honestly never looked at it that way and it also made me somewhat not want them to add any cars I requested because they’ll probably make it look like crap and handle like crap. I don’t want to buy a half a*sed car that took no effort into designing just because it’s something I want “so bad”.

 

I wanna know your guys’ thoughts on this. If you need a better explanation let me know.

I thought about it before. I think the car division in the team doing the updates for gta online wants to have fun too ...

I think they want to make fun cars and sometimes just mess around with stuff.

 

And i get it. When your income comes from doing cars again and again and again for a six years old game, i think a routine starts to install.

 

The problem i have with this is the fact if you just care about the fun you'll botch some things on the way ... Take the JB 700W for example (i know i know) ...

I was 15 when i saw for the first time this great machine and wanted since to have a fully weaponized and refined one ...

 

The years passed and my desire for such a dream to come true never faded away one bit. And i'm here now with a job and a life to manage, typing this very message that will probably not change much.

I am not angry after this car. I am angry because i waited for so long for this.

 

Grand Theft Auto 5 is not a game we play for the graphism. It is not a game we play for the realistic atmosphere, and certainly not a game we play for serious pvp.

We play it because it's a little part of us, of our childhood, we grew up with gta and gta grew up with us.

(And the cars obviously ...)

 

I am not angry after the team who did that car. I just wish i could tell them that sometimes taking your time and trying your best for something, can be equally satisfying to make ...

 

 

Now if you excuse me i have some grinding to do ... In my Stromberg.
