Almost all western army trucks are boxy, conventional in style, something that you imagine when you hear the word "truck"
But the Soviet ones are something... I don't even know how to describe it.

I thought you might like my mentioning of Soviet design uniquity. Very interesting mixture of vintage flair - probably related to the philosophy of "if it isn't broken..." - and utilitarian reservedness. The only major manufacturer in the U.S. that suggests to me the same willingness to break the norm in favor of function is Oshkosh, who mostly make special-use heavy-duty machines for the military or niche services. Always make me think of railroad locomotives before typical road tractors (especially when a big shiny streamlined body is grafted onto one). Of course, older military vehicles of the United States and Canada often had more interesting designs, since supplanted, but that seems a slower process in the CIS and other former socialist states. Geopolitical nonsense aside, there's something to respect in an old truck still doing its job. Living history! Gotta appreciate that. And here's some more of those Oshkosh trucks, because they're cool and I can't find enough images of them to make a real post:

What if I intentionally starved an entire region for no reason but spite, would that be OK?

 Ah yes, I remember

The famous event when GAZ and ZIL teamed up to starve Romania to population of 1,5

The Volgas were ramming into houses chewing the last food poor people had with their engines

So when are we blaming Dodge for napalming half of Vietnam, Porsche for holocaust, Mitsubishi for Nanking and Morris for starving whole India?

Dude, they honestly aren't  worth it to argue against. I agree that their logic against these cars is ass backwards though.

I have been neglecting Oshkosh most of the time due to only seeing a couple of their army trucks I did not find much interest in. Seems l missed on a lot of interesting stuff, thanks for letting me know.

I think the CIS problem (Military aside) lies in a fact that most of the territories where trucks do heavy duty (Logging and so on) are extreme condition. Snow, lots of mud, rivers and all of that basically degrades any truck to a primitive heavy beaten hunk of metal with a powerful engine. Why make something shiny and high tech when all of that will be ruined in a short time, when you can start with an unbreakable big block of iron with 4 wheels and a steering wheel.

I'm not a troll. I just state my opinion without caring at all. If you like communist cars / le quirk crap I probably hate you, it's that simple. There are a million better sh*tboxes and cars that make you oh so unique for liking. In fact I see people praising these cars all the time to the point that they seem more liked than something you'd expect people to like.

If Porsches had no other identity than being a Nazi sh*tcan manufacturer sure. Turns out making great cars for the past 60 years lets you disassociate from an unpleasant past! Commie sh*tcans are not noteworthy for any other reason than being a commie sh*tcan.

Because I'm not a huge fan of communist civilian vehicles myself, they indeed were cheap knockoffs of other cars, or their licensed copies. My love for them comes more from a duckling syndrome.

I'm a fan of Soviet utility and heavy duty vehicles, which are a cheaper and as good, If not better alternative to any western analogue. The KRAZ, Ural and MAZ vehicles lived long enough through the worst conditions to be a still living proof of that in themselves. And no amount of REEEEEEEing from a spiritual successor of sir McCain can change that.

Hence why I don't really have to prove anything. Time did it for me.

@Desky, @Potto, and all the other rash folks of this last page or so, you must understand that this is a Vehicle Wishlist thread on an international website for the fans of an immensely popular video game franchise. There will be a variety of opinions and expressions of the vehicles people like and want added to the game, because that's the point of the thread. Littering it with needlessly argumentative and weakly manipulative comments is silly and foolish. I'm not so high-and-mighty that I'd tell you not to express yourselves, but recognize that you've got no place in telling fellow forum users what they should or should not post (especially in such discriminatory ways), and that there are those of us here who will call you out as being fools when you regurgitate hateful nonsense into the thread.

Let those of us who want cars we want to post them to the thread given for us to do that in, for whatever reason we want those cars, freely. You can go about your lives and we won't bother you as long as you don't let us, and we'll do the same.

In all my years of watching people geek about these sh*tty cars it's coincidentally never been someone who might have had experience with them or grown up with them. Suggest them all you want but it's still stupid. Why settle for a cheap copy when you could have the real thing? and it's insulting to me to even compare them to a brand like Porsche or a Japanese car. Something like the 601 is a literal suffering dicatorship car, it's not a car that should be admired. Other Soviet cars are somewhat different, it's mainly the Trabant I hate.

I'm probably going to regret chiming in, but one doesn't have to have first hand experience of a car to appreciate it or want it in a game. The only Soviet era cars I've seen in person are the GAZ M21 Volga, a Wartburg a Tatra 603 and a Tatra  87. Regardless of the countries they were made in, the cars are nonetheless interesting to see, even if just to look at the styling and features of said cars. The faults and travesties committed by their countries of origin have nothing to do with the cars themselves, if anything the cars give a look at what personal transportation looked like on the other side of the world.

Those who have great interests in cars will inevitably develop an appreciation for even some of the most diminutive cars ever produced regardless of where they came from. To just go out and say that you probably hate someone because they like quirky or old East Bloc cars is childish and immature. Cars represent for many people freedom. Freedom to go where they please, freedom to take themselves somewhere, freedom to not have to rely on others or public transit to get from one place to another, even if they're in a country where freedom is limited.

So, I mentioned that I would do a minipost with lesser known Russian non-weaponized military cars.
Yeah, I know, everyone hates military vehicles now, and believe me, I do too. However those, as I said are not weaponized, and I will try to only pick the ones with unique look, not to swarm the list with billions of Insurgent variations.

Let's a go I guess

VPK-3927 "Volk" (Wolf) and Weaponless GAZ-2330 "Tigr" (Tiger)
Both share same bodytype with the exception of Volk being a heavier unit. Can be pretty much combined into one vehicle and gameplaywise act more like an armored van, than a military 4x4, considering both Tigr's and Volk's rear door layout. Tigr also bears some minor similarities with that offroad vehicle displayed at warstock website, the one we never got.

ZIL "Punisher"/"Falcatus"

Well, I promised they will be unique. And this is unique to an extreme level I believe. Some may remember it from Arma.

The Typhoon-K is actually just a weaponized variant of standart Typhoon in real life, so won't harm be done to remove the guns here.

someone sure is grumpy

Hey it does suck that the beaters in V and Online aren't nearly as terrible as they were in IV, right? Like in IV there were bent fenders, and bad exhausts, and in V it's more like...they've got a rust texture and a weird horn, and nothing else. even if all of the beaters were crappy in the same way in IV, they were also crappy in a way that stands out from the non beater variants.

anyways it'd be cool to have some actual beater variants in the game that are actually clunky in a real way compared to the non beater cars

Honestly if the engine swaps actually had any kind of effect on the performance it'd rule. have a function that lets you either put a new brand new stock engine in or one of a handful of popular swaps (V8, F4, I6, etc) and you have a lot of interesting ways to change how the car goes

but that's more of a gta VI feature than one that could be put into online currently

So Microsoft is adding the Ferrari Pista to Forza Horizon 4 tomorrow. C'mon R*, that's the 3rd game to add the 488 Pista.

94204d30-8d74-4c94-8ffd-fb592f7615c9.jpg

At this point, we'll settle for the standard 488 GTB or even the 458 Italia.
