My guess is that this concept is a big PR movement.
BMW has nothing to show in Frankfurt Motor Show this year to attract the attention except BMW M Next concept against Mercedes-Benz EQS and EQC. That's why BMW made a huge meme grille for 4-series. 
I believe BMW will make the grilles a lil bit smaller, something around BMW 7-series or similar to 2015 concept:

In general, we need more Ubermachts, and not just classics.  It seems like every update there is a ton of benefactors coming out and its almost overkill to every other brand in game.  especially when they can easily incorporate bmw designs into the game to compete with pre-existing vehicles (x6m, e46, 7-series with a v12.  m6 gran coupe, etc.)  dont get me wrong, i love the classics we are getting, but we also need some present day BMW representation and the awkwardly boxy SC1 and mix breed Cadillac really don't cut it.  (I love my Revolter, but c'mon, its a Cadillac from the rear)  

 

I'd also like to see cars like the Sultan RS, and Banshee 900R come back.  Those two cars were completely random, out of the box and perfect in my opinion.  Cars inspired by the s2000, new beetle, 3000gt, eclipse, evo 8, civic hatchback, 350z without an armored plate...  I mean the list goes on.  Super cars are fun and all, but id much rather have the "normal car" with a ton of customization to make it my own rather the a cookie cutter super car with 3 spoilers.

See, I'd probably buy a hatchback Z8 in real life (or better yet, a custom Z8 shooting brake!), but I figure 'Z8 front, Z3 roadster back' for a GTA car works better for making something that's close enough to a pure Z8, using all BMW parts. Bit like how the Elegy Retro looks like a Skyline GT-R from any angle, simply by swapping bits from one Skyline with overall-similar bits from another.

 

...and oh goodness, what I'd give for a proper S2000, GTO, Eclipse, Civic, etc. - trouble is, unless whoever did the Gauntlet Hellfire or Nebula Turbo gets the job of sculpting the thing, I almost feel I'm better off sticking to Forza, and not having them wind up looking like whatever-the-heck is going on with the Locust...

That's what i was going for honestly, a hatchback Z8.  Something that really isn't a thing in real life, but if it was....   actually they could easily do two variants, the Seraph and Seraph XS.  It would go along with literally every other Ubemacht in game. 

 

And sadly you're so correct about that.   We'd ask for vehicles based off of beloved tuner cars and the guy who did the original Jester "classic", or the Ardents roof line will end up doing them.  Or they'll come with un-removable parts to be race ready or armored...

To be honest I think I didn't just dodge bullet with Elegy Retro, I tink I dodged a SCUD Missile back then. I love R32 the most of all the three Zillas, and after I heard of Elegy Retro coming, half of me was hoping and the other half had no hope because I was sure it's gonna be R34 to please Fast & Furious fanwave. But bang, I not only get R32, but with R33 facial parts too! And the only R34 part they gave were rearlights! I was genuinely happy with how it turned out. I have nothing against R34, but R32 shines way less than R34 in racing games, it deserves more love. I'm not even talking about R33 which appears in 1.5 games If we exclude stuff like Tokyo Extreme, Automodellista etc.

New page, huh? With how slow things are around here, it's weird to think we're only a few cars into the dripfeed. There's plenty yet to come, but I can't help looking forward to the winter update. The Dynasty and Nebula have me hopeful! But until then, here's more cars for your consideration. It's an all-American post today! A Studebaker, a Lincoln, an AMG, a Buick, and a Dodge. Let's get to it.

Though I'm partial to the 1947 look than the 1950 redesign, I can't deny that the jet age styling on these Studebakers is super cool. Tune in to some Fats Domino or Jo Stafford and hit that highway!

Can't very well talk about American cars without bringing up an old land yacht like this. Even with things like the Virgo, Chino, Emperor, and Manana, GTA Online is still missing a proper big American luxury car like this. I hope that changes.
