But didnt you guys notice on some vehicles we can change the front fascia and the headlights but there never an option for the taillights whatsoever?

 

I just hate it when the shape & placement of lights on the car body has no rule or just an afterthought.

There are a a couple cars that have tail light options. I am pretty sure the Elegy Retro (I know, I know, hotrod man) has some completely different taillamp options.

 

But yeah I have noticed overall.

In fact, the Elegy Retro doesn't, either. The only one that I can think of recently is the Torero - and even then, it's more things like a cheap-looking headlight mask, where you can still see the round lights underneath.

 

By the same token, I'm always a bit miffed when R* does extended front bumpers and side skirts, but no rear bumper option to match - or worse, front/rear bumpers, but no matching skirts.

Take something like this - there's a front bumper and side skirts as part of the kit, but also two rear 'spats' that blend the kit all the way around the car:

You sure? I could have sworn there was at least one different option for the Elegy Retro. Maybe part of a different mod, rear bumper or something.

No, just a couple of bigger spoiler options that remove the rear bumper, plus a few carbon diffusers. No rear light options, no proper rear bumper options.

 

It's probably the one gripe I have with the car, that stops it being 100% perfect - I'd have loved the option for a full body kit, and I hope that if R* adds some other '90s cars, they actually get full kits.

After watching a ton of Initial D, I'd love to see imports get some love. An FC, and real FD and not some tarted up Banshee made to look vaguely like an FD, a Sil-Eighty, a hatchback Futo that looks like a real 86, and even an early Evo, maybe an Evo IV would be sweet. I know, the Sultan can be made to sort of look like an Evo but sort of look like and actually are are two different things. Also, I'm surprised there haven't been more Rocket Bunny or Liberty Walk kits or cars added for cars like the Elegy RH8, Infernus, or Gauntlet.

Back during the Business update, when the Jester was announced to be a Dinka, I assumed it was going to be a car like this:

I was somewhat pleasantly surprised that it's a NSX though.

Seriously, we have dozens and dozens of sports/supercars, but only 3 post-war classic sedans. To add insult to injury the Warrener/Datsun and Glendale/Mercedes are both impossible to look "business-like" or any kind of elegant whatsoever, and the Cadillac Brougham has a rustbucket version just like the Tornado.
Why is it so hard to give us a big, elegant vintage executive limousine? Or actually, any kind of big executive limousine at all? The Super Diamond is excellent but lacking in customization, and the only proper executive car they've added since is the Cognoscenti.

I'm getting tired of driving the same 2/3 4-person cars because R* thinks we value overstylized supercars over actual functional ones...

It's such a no-brainer - R*'s just demonstrated that they're fine doing variants of the Comet Retro, and it really is a good take on the classic 911 look.

 

If they don't put out a Comet Classic or whatever by the time updates dry up completely, they're leaving money on the table*...

Right but Porsche is historically pretty picky when it comes to video games. That is why it is such a big deal when racing games announce they will have Porsche or a Porsche DLC.

 

I was gonna make the same comment about it earlier, I think they are avoiding it for the sole reason of avoiding legal trouble. Many of the cars we just recieved were very, very close to their real world counterparts and I think they want to continue making vehicles that way, they just can't do it with the classic Porsche design. They can't change it enough and still make it look like what it is supposed to be.

 

Throwing a widebody kit on it or an off road suspension changes it enough to avoid any problems.

 

Then again, the Comet RS is sitting in the files right now, and that thing looks 100% Porsche. So maybe they are just holding a stock classic version back. Idk.

To be fair the Unreleased Pfister Neon is almost 100% Porsche. It's a mix between the Porsche E-Mission and Porsche Panamera (You already know this). The Neon Looks more like a real life Porsche than a Comet Classic does.

If Porsche was going to sue Rockstar it would be over the Neon before the Comet Retro Classic.

That's something I've wondered about Nissan compared to Aston Martin - a lot of Nissan-based things are surprisingly accurate, although not all of them are Annis in-game (Stratum, Warrener, 190z).

Meanwhile, aside from the JB 700 (which is older), and the slightly 'genericised' front of the Massacro, the rest of the Dewbauchee lineup looks like R* took the front off a completely different car, and bolted it on - Seven-70, Specter, Rapid GT, etc.

 

As for Porsche and the Comet, the RS does look a lot like certain performance variants of the Cayman - and the basic shape of the Comet Retro/Safari is close without being 100% identical. If anything, a 'Comet Classic' would look a lot like the 3D-era Comet (which I suspect was always the whole point with the design of the Retro!):

 

 

 

It was fine then, the Retro/Safari are close enough and apparently fine now - and after all, 'similar is not the same', so I'd personally say R* could get away with it, in theory. But it's all a bit moot unless we know the specifics of how each company handles pastiche designs - or if there aren't specific guidelines, and it's just R* and/or their legal bods having to make judgment calls as to what they can get away with when/where.

Interesting about Porsche, then I guess we won't see a 930 in this game.

 

One thing I think is pretty bad is the pricing. The GT500 is cheap, I mean it's a crazily expensive car in real life but ingame it's like a generic sports car in terms of the price. Since it's very exclusive in the real world, it should've been worth 10 million in my opinion, so people actually raised their eyebrows seeing it. How the Savestra can be more expensive is a mystery for me.

Probably not but at least they have in the past. There are a few manufactuers that haven't recieved any at all.
