Benefactor C90 (Sauber-Mercedes C9)

 

 

 

Pfister 650R (Porsche 956)

 

Both on the pace of the RE-7B, 650R maybe slightly quicker.

 

 

Then, of course, the new breed:

 

 

Obey LMR (Audi R18)

 

 

 

Karin RSR (Toyota TS050)

 

 

 

Pfister 818 (Porsche 919)

 

These three should be a fair bit quicker than the RE-7B and friends, maybe even in a new class.

I've never expected R* to announce another Progen (GP1) similar to Tyrus. This makes me think we can have another chance to receive a real Infernus Classic.

The Infernus is a Ferrari Testarossa front & Lamborghini Diablo rear. It looks so wrong!

 

The F40 looks ok from the angle in the pic I seen.

The Countach would've been so much better.

 

I was born in the 90s, but I can see that the Countach trumps the Diablo in terms of outrageous Lambo looks & styling (especially for the era it came out in)

 

The Diablo looks boring in comparison.

Eh not exactly. The GTA III Infernus was a weird mix of Jaguar, Lambo, and Vector. It changed the way it looked in every game.

 

The Bullet changed too. In SA it was a GT40. In IV and V it is a Ford GT, two different cars. Similar yeah, but not the same.

 

 

 

I am thinking more like, the Sabre Turbo. That car has stayed nearly identical in all the games. Literally almost exactly the same. The Blista Compact has stayed nearly identical as well since Vice City.

 

Then there are other cars, that are just as popular that change every game. Sometimes wild swings, like the Infernus, the Slamvan, and others.

What gets me about the Infernus Classic is that it'd be fine as a new thing, designed to be an 'older counterpart to the GTA IV/V Infernus', and nothing to do with the 3D-era. But in that case, why mention the 'fan-favourite from older GTA games' aspect, when it's not really applicable?

 

Heck, if 'a couple of Italian supercars smooshed together and given a long-running GTA car name' is enough to qualify being a 'classic GTA fan-favourite', then ...surely that already describes the current Infernus - ?


And yet, amazingly, they came up with an all-new Turismo Classic, that looks like a pretty good update of the SA version and recognisable as an F40 (much like how the Elegy Retro Custom pulls double-duty as a good update of the SA Elegy, and a solid Skyline expy in general).

 

Maybe someone on the vehicle design team figured that they could kill two birds with one stone, and make a car that 'pleases fans of both the old Turismos AND the old Cheetahs!' (), or maybe Lamborghini's a bit particular about what R* can get away with in terms of pastiches - or maybe it's just the same person who thought the FMJ was a good design, at it again...

That beta infernus actually looks better than the final imo.

Yeah - granted, I still think R* would have been better off going with the Vice City version, since that's arguably the most popular incarnation, but at the very least, it's clearer what they were going for, rather than just coming up with a new design and trying to pass it off as a 'classic GTA car'.

Interestingly, that pic actually comes from the really, really old 'Capital Autos' promo site for GTA III, along with all the early versions/names of the cars (the Cheetah is the 'Rocket', for example):
