Willy A. Jeep

It's monday, Presidents Day in the United States, and I've been awake for, like, 19 hours after only getting about 4 hours of sleep. Ah, to be me. But it's a new page, if my math hasn't failed me, and it's time for a new post! Bare with me as I totally fall apart attempting to make this post. Trucks! Yeah! Inspired by the likes of @asadog2 and researching the many trucks of film fame, today's addition to the never-ending wishlist of strange and obscure vehicles is all about semi trucks. Trailer tractors. Roadtrains. Y'know. It still blows my mind that we can't purchase any of the original semis as Pegasus vehicles, and if you want to own any kind of long hauler, you've got to own a military bunker. But, beyond a plea to let us own the likes of the Phantom, Hauler, Packer, Barracks Semi, and Docktug, this post has some fresh blood for the GTA semi scene. Ten trucks! A pair of Internationals, a Peterbilt, a Chevrolet, a Mack, a Kenworth, a DAF, a Volvo, a Freightliner, and a Scammell. Also, honorary mention to the International Harvester Sightliner, because I wanted to include it but there's no good pictures of it I felt comfortable reusing here. Let's get to it! Whatever it is...

Peterbilt 281/351

Here's one to rival Christine, if only the film it starred in had any popularity. It's also a classic in American truck design of the midcentury, though I'm to understand you might see these in Australia, too. Perfect for hauling anomalous chemicals or running down innocents.

International Harvester Loadstar

Built in the 60s and 70s, it's a really generic-looking truck platform from everybody's favorite forgotten manufacturer, IH. A few of the trucks we already have in-game take on a similar look, but we have no semi model like this. Here's the solution.

Chevrolet "Art Deco" COE

Though a bit mangled and cut short by World War II, the "Art Deco" age of automobiles remains one of my favorites. The Chevrolet COE of this period is probably my favorite pre-50s heavy duty truck, though I am a sucker for Deco in general...

Mack MH Ultraliner

It's big, blocky, and scary. Exactly what you want in your 1980s COE semi truck. I know we've already got a similar thing in the Hauler, but gosh, we need diversity. In all things, but trucks, too.

Kenworth W900B

A juggernaut of American trucking, the W900 has been in production since 1961, and is showing no signs of stopping any time soon. Take that as you will. The W900B is my preferred flavor, but you can take your pick.

DAF 2600

Uhh... No idea about this one, other than its obviously European style. The Wikipedia article is only in... Dutch? Which I don't speak, so... Looks are everything, in this case, I guess.

International LoneStar

OK, so, they're not "International Harvester" anymore, but they're still making weird trucks. Look at that nose. You think they're trying for a 1930s style?

Spoiler

InternationalLoneStar.JPG

I wonder why nobody wants to take pictures of this truck...

Volvo FH

A modern COE, and from Europe, no less! Well, actually, I guess that's not surprising, what with European roads and the death of the COE in North America... I know how some of you enjoy your imports, though.

Freightliner FL

A lot of these wound up as school buses around the U.S., but plenty are still in medium and heavy duty shipping roles. I know it's a bit close to the Packer/Pounder, but keep your voice down and Rockstar might not notice.

Scammell Scarab

Last but certainly not least, it's the British Scammell Scarab. The missing link between the modern truck and the horse, the Scarab is a curious, compact innovation of off-rails cargo movement. And it's just dripping with character. Oh, it's so cute!

With both the Ring Brothers and Sloppy Mechanics attacking the problem of "my Winnebago isn't fast enough," clearly what we need is a Journey Custom.

I don't usually do trucks, but @Willy A. Jeep has inspired me to do a few smaller ones, here goes nothing.

Hah, wonderful! I'm still hoping for a Dodge A100 pick-up to come along at some point, with the Deora as a conversion option. It's not really my style, but such an icon of custom design deserves some representation. And the Futurliner... Well, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want something like those behemoths in-game, but my personal tastes lean more towards the original Parade of Progress Streamliners, and even more so to the intermediate (and somewhat smaller) Previews of Progress van. Innovations of the past, still so cool.

@Willy A. Jeep gotta love Harley Earl's GM era .... It's a shame what happened to the company.

I wouldn't put it past them to add a 100 or a Deora. Everything is possible with R* after the Youga custom & Raptor.

When it comes to lorries, I quite like classic Bedfords, such as these:

And a bonus lorry, the Sentinel S8:

It would be nice to have a steam vehicle like this, as unlikely as it is.

Just one request for today: this exact car.  No need to mix design cues because it's not actually a licensed design and doesn't even have a name as far as I can tell.

Liveries, armor and countermeasures for every old aircraft cause right know they are totally useless.

Havok mk2 - Better landing gear, missiles with slow rate of fire and weak explosive rounds (and/or gimbal turret). Also it could work as a car/bike

iReviews-PAL-V.jpg

Swift mk2 (AirWolf) - Rocket boost, no auto-stabilization (so it can do a barrel roll), special missions, autopilot (with no need to load a different interior and a callback button so it can land automatically), rc bombs, scanners gimbal turret, laser and all the spy-tech they can add

Volatus Mk2 - Similar to AirWolf but less advanced

Buzzard mk2 - Bennys lvl of customization, custom cockpit (fuzzy dice, bubble heads). Maybe even 3 different versions like those vehicles from Arena War. And it should replace your CEO buzzard as well.

Mallard mk2 / Alpha mk2 - 3 big bombs with big blast radius

Annihilator mk2 - Ridiculous amount of powerful miniguns, hook from cargobob

Dodo mk2 - 6 miniguns or one with explosive rounds, bombs. Basically that plane from FarCry4

Frogger mk2 - Poor man's Valkyrie. Cheap helicopter with powerful minigun on one side. (I think it was used in SP).

Sea Sparrow Retro (from VC) - with countermeasures and liveries ffc!

Thruster mk2
dubai-640x346.png

Titan mk2- vtol, autopilot, small aircraft inside (so kinda like flying terrorbyte)
GrayHairyKoodoo-size_restricted.gif
latest?cb=20171221131021&path-prefix=ru

Add to that:

- at least one futuristic plane and helicopter (Not a big fan of those but it doesn't make sense that only civilian vehicles have that futuristic alien tech... military should have it first)

Spoiler

1955_d8635.jpg
Drone-Commuter-1.jpg

- drone bike / drone heli with no weapons other then rotor blades

Spoiler

hoverbike-dubai-police-training-hero-01.
184-drone.jpeg

- wingsuits and new parachutes with thrusters (existing pc mods)
- new kinds of weapon upgrades (kinetic, EMP blast, lasers, rc bombs)
- custom hud for aircrafts
- new RC toys and drones with different upgrades (flamethrowers, chainsaws, bombs, up-n-atomizer). For example: RC scramjet, RC r2k, RC Hutner, RC blimb, RC tank (all with small and weak fireworks instead of missiles)
- buff for all unarmed aircrafts (maybe it could take 2-3x longer to lock-on to them or something like that)
- huge buff for huge planes like volatol and bombushka
- everything from here
- special missile launcher that uses r2k rockets BUT they can only lock-on to oppressors
- EMP gun / Drone jammer to deal with RC toys and oppressors
DS_161121_0878_opt_0.png?format=1500w

And we have a pretty awesome low effort update.

Mid-page post time! And, continuing from my first post on this page, it's another installment of cargo haulers. Mechanical horses. Prime movers. Semi trucks! Again, honorable mentions for some that didn't make the cut - Ford's "Big Red" Turbine truck, Chevrolet's Turbo Titan III, and the 1970s Oshkosh family of rugged industrial behemoths. Anyway, I've got a Western Star, a DAF, a Mack, a Bedford, an Oshkosh, a Tesla, a Ford, a Kurgan Wheel Tractor Plant, a Tatra, and a Steinwinter. Let's get to it!

Western Star 4800

The de facto star of Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive, with that absolutely terrifying (and somewhat impractical) mask mounted on its nose, it's somewhat surprising how forgotten the 4800 is in media. If the Peterbilt 281 is overshadowed, the 4800 is invisible.

DAF XF

I used the "XF Space" package as my main truck when playing Euro Truck Simulator 2, and I definitely recommend the experience of crossing bite-size digital Europe in one of these because of it. Maybe if you're crossing full-size analogue Europe, too!

Mack R Series

The in-game Tipper truck resembles the R series quite well, but of course we have no semi analogue. A crying shame! These trucks are an icon in American trucking, even if time has taken its toll.

Bedford S & RL

Well, @Vallence took some of my thunder for this one, but I'm not backing down. The Bedford S, and its long-lived military version, is a fine example of Bedford's awesome style contained in a classic COE design.

Oshkosh M911

I wouldn't blame you if you've never heard of Oshkosh. They're a heavy-duty specialist truck manufacturer, mostly in the military market nowadays. Very rugged, very utilitarian, very unique. I can't help but like these weird-looking trucks.

Tesla Semi

From the very rugged to the very streamlined, here comes Tesla's futuristic offering to the heavy transport market. Is this the future of the American semi truck? Only time will tell. Maybe one of these will land on Mars in a few years.

Spoiler

Ford C Series

A classic American COE truck, from back when Ford made awesome stuff. Sure-jawed and strong, you'll still see these in service as fire engines all around North America. Can't let a good thing die, especially when there's so much life left in it.

KZKT-7428

From Russia with Cold War paranoia, the KZKT-7428 Rusich marks the end of a long line of super-heavy duty trucks designed to haul everything from an acre of sawn logs to an arsenal of ICBMs. Try dailying one of these.

Tatra 815

Tatra, while long since departed from their famed aerodynamic styling of the midcentury, still produces trucks for the Eurasian market. The 815 is one such modern heavy truck platform, and its name has wooed me enough for inclusion here.

Steinwinter Supercargo

And the weirdest, saved for last. Here's a German innovation of the 1980s, attempting to tackle the problem of length by putting the engine not only under the cab, but both under the trailer. A semi truck to compete with the craziest super cars of yesteryear...
