PS2 and Xbox map for PC

Tomasak, when I try to extract files from xbox_map.img via IMG Tool I have "Read beyond end of file" error (?), but files seems to be extracted, no such problem with vehicles_xbox.img ...

ignore it. Or use Fastman92™ Img Console™

 

 

Uploaded Xbox VC map.

This one is compatible with the Xbox mod. However, it's buggy and I don't know whether this is the fault of the Xbox mod.

So, looks like I installed everything right, but map and vehicles, even skin and bones won't load with modloader. I also install Ultimate asi loader and try to paste asi-files in scripts folder, but in that case new game just crashes. Or FLA still needed ?

fla needed!

Works for me. Just have OLA (the one I provided! the official release doesn't have the limits yet) loaded early (by UAL). 13AG had some problems with modloader or cleo scripts or who knows what...I use neither so I don't know.

I'm not so sure how the xbox game handles this. You can just disable backface culling, but I doubt this is the "correct" fix. Maybe there's some hardcoded behaviour.

So what changes does the VC Xbox map bring? I can't really tell the difference and some of the changes it makes to the game are kind of annoying (e.g. my generic.txd contains high resolution textures and there are some map changes from the Xbox mod that are overwritten by your Xbox map).

In the matfx extension. Just import into 3ds max and you should see it.

Yes, sure. Just look for material fx chunks. RWanalyze doesn't decode them further, but they're there. You also need a second set of texture coordinates.

Looking through files what are those supposed to be for? They are renamed DFFs or something

EDIT: Hmm yeah they are same as their .dff counterparts. Odd.

Hope you can sort things out with the XBOX gta III map / vehicles / peds. I just tried installing them and running it. I can get it to run with FLA however it has a major amount of bugs... I mean the ped models are all scrambled and twisted with their xbox models + textures and skin and bones mod. Parts of the map are missing / untextured. Can't even play the story right now since it'll crash here and there.

 

Right now I will just get back to SA and keep my eye on this topic untill things are sorted. Good luck and thanks a lot for the work that has been put into all your mods so far!

About the backface culling, PS2 maps need it disabled too so it wouldn't surprise me that it is the actual fix for the ''bugs'' on the xbox map for VC. (same visual ''bugs'' are there when you install ps2 feels edition for VC, from the leftovers fix thread and keep backface culling enabled).

Is there any way to mipmap the textures for the xbox maps without breaking the lightmaps (at least I think that's what happened)? I tried extracting and then just putting the files right back in (with IMGTool, don't know of any other tool that actually seems to work) but even that seems to cause the game to crash instead of just running like it does with the untouched files.

 

Already running FXAA which reduces the noise a tiny bit but for objects further away the grain is just horrible.

Xbox textures already have mipmaps though.

Use/force 16xAF instead, the default Bi/Trilinear filtering is extremely outdated and of course looks blurry.

Where are you supposed to set Streaming Info size to 6524 and TxdStore size to 1024 ?

I can't find these settings anywhere. Were they settings in an old version of skygfx?

 

I can't run the game now after installing this and skygfx. It just crashes when i start a new game.

 

Although from reading this topic, is it not really recommended to use this for GTA 3 anymore?

Also what is all talk about needing some asi loader mod? I've never used them before and the game can load asis like silent patch and things perfectly fine. So i'm not sure i understand the necessity?

 

Also not sure what to do about generic.txd since it seems to be also replaced by either the leftovers patch or silent patch (can't remember which).

Which editor would you recommend for editing txd files to combine them?

 

Mind you it's all very academic if i can't get a new game to start anymore haha.
