Drag Meets aims to bring to the game the famous races from

and these wonderful Meets from

Features:

· Actual, working Meets, where AI drivers will race each other taking turns (100% done)

· Cheering crowds, Vans with loud music and other parked cars to give the feel of a real street car meet (90% done)

· Over 40 pre-designed drivers and their vehicles, more being added in later updates! (100% done)

· Over 5 different locations, more being added in later updates! (90% done)

· AI drivers don't always drive the same way, their reaction times and their ability to change gear at the best moment can change between races, allowing for more unpredictable outcomes (100% done)

· You can bet on your favorite driver! (100% done)

· You'll be able to participate yourself! (100% done)

Drivers/Vehicles:
You can contribute vehicle designs! Just send me some pictures of the car and I'll add it. You'll be credited.
If you want me to be precise about the vehicle design, save the car with Simple Trainer and send me the vehicle configuration you will find in the trainer.ini inside your main GTAV folder.

I can provide all the designs for the script myself, but I would prefer to mix in some designs from other people. You know, for variety's sake. Here are some of my designs.

That's pretty cool, man. I'd suggest that the flagger use a flair gun instead of a pistol though (looks a little more dramatic).

Our crew does meetups, and drags are usually a part of them. This topic shows some spots with maps and what not.

Thanks for the link, very useful. Looks like I already got some of these (The Canals and Sandy Shores Airfield) but I'll be adding the rest of them almost for sure.

 

About the flare: true, but I want to use flares for the finishing point. Using flares for both the start shot and the finish line wouldn't be very pretty.

However, the flaregun would really fit for night meetings... I'll see what I can do to fit it well.

^ Here's me trying to see how many cars would it take to clutter the meeting area (where vehicles wait to be chosen for the next race). For now, big areas like this handle well up to 20 cars!

 

I hope the Airport one can handle even more.

as a fan of your impromptu mod, im excited for this one.

 

The end of the race has a lot of opportunities like show data (if its feasible) like top speed, reaction times, lap times, # of time won, leaderboard, etc.

Yeah, getting that information from the drivers and their vehicles is not a problem.

For now, my plans are releasing the script with the working meets (and the betting system), then adding player participation, data tables for the participants, etc in subsequent updates.

 

I just finished tweaking the crowds spawn system and the meet cleaning system, should any unexpected individuals decide to appear, either by themselves or called by the player.

 

I've also added some filters for the meets, so the vehicles participating in each Meet are consistent with the area. For example, Custom Factions won't participate in Sandy Shores and Marshals won't participate in the Terminal.

That's for the predefined vehicles, of course. If you decide to spawn a Custom Faction in the Sandy Shores Meet, the script won't have any problem creating a participant for the car and joining both to the Meet.

 

And here are four more shots, two from the Sandy Shores airfield and two from the Terminal.

Yeah, they do, and vehicle mods affect their performance too.

It's not something I did, the game doesn't change a car's handling if it's the AI who's driving it, they perform the same.

 

However, I've added two features that add some unpredictability to the races, making betting much more interesting and sometimes risky.

 

- Small, random ammount of speed boost for each car, representing how well they change gear.

- A slight random delay (0ms - 800ms) for each car at the start of the race, representing how much time they take to notice the starting shot and start accelerating.

 

Both features are random for now, but drivers will have their own reaction times and gear changing ability in the future.

 

These features will be enabled by default, but toogleable, just in case some people don't like them.

I'm taking my time finetuning things and adding what its needed for the first version to work as intended. Currently adding the mandatory van blasting music on the meet. Just added the timeframes for the Meets, so some meets will be only at night, and some only on weekends (to avoid occupying important zones forever).

 

Also added a little function that takes care of stuck drivers.

They're optional now, finished that part.

 

 

 

As I said earlier, some Meets are restricted to nighttime or weekends. How will you know when a Meet is available?

The only thing left is a couple more of vehicles, organizing the airport Meet and the script should be ready to be published. I would give it 3~ days.

I've been having some problems regarding vehicle saving, AI magnament and crowd spawning, only the crowds haven't been fixed yet. For some reason, they don't always spawn.

 

However, the North Yankton and Airport Meets are done.

All that's left is fixing the crowds and checking all the vehicles to make sure they have been saved properly. Half of them didn't get their custom wheels saved...

 

Also I should add two or three more meets. The vehicle count is over 45 at this point.

I don't know if it's a bit late or something but I've modded 60 cars, ranging from typical drag racers like muscle cars and tuners to all the lowriders but the Moonbeam and even including a modified police cruiser

I've added another Meet at the beach. I'll add these cars and this thing should be ready to be released.

Works great for me, occasionally the AI does get stuck for a moment getting the cars for the drags but they work their way out in not too long

The only major issue is that at one point a person got stuck in a loop of running into someone, getting stuck, staggering back and repeating, trying to get to a car. Nothing nudging the obstructing NPC didn't fix but I imagine that's something you could try to make a workaround for (e.g. add an option to have the npcs teleport into the cars rather than run to them)

Oh, that. There's a countdown that teleports the drivers into their cars (and their cars to the starting line) if they take too much time, just be a little patient for it to kick in. I should add a config for that one in the next update.

 

Also, you can push both NPCs with your car. Don't worry, everyone is invincible. Or you can go to the finish line and wait a little, the npcs and cars start being teleported instead of actually moving if you're far from the meet but still want to see the races, AKA far from the starting line but somewhat close to the finish line.

Don't teleport directly. Teleport nearby and then drive there. I noticed increased crashes when I teleported to the meets.

 

 

I doubt more peds would add any realistic feeling. If anything, I would try to add props, like spotlights or cones.

 

 

I plan on make the waiting vehicles open their trunks and Lowriders bounce around, however. I think It will make the Meet more alive.

I just tweaked a system that lets you know your reaction time, I'll add a "select your oponent" feature and will update soon.

I'm pretty happy with the current state of the Meets, so development will be more relaxed from now on.

 

I still plan on adding a scoreboard, improve the music, improve the police involvement, and maybe a tool for adding or removing vehicles.

How do we make AI driver's cars invincible???

They are invincible (can't explode), anyway all the vehicles are visually and physically fixed when they're called to race, I haven't really figured out how to make them visually invincible yet.

I'm talking about just racing in general using impromptu race mod???

 

The AI mess thier cars up too quick and bad...ie breaking wheels and flat tires.

 

I found a god mode for AI peds in the simple trainer but not ai controlled vehicles

Espcially when you don't know what the heck you're talking about. Drag Meets doesn't use Impromptu Races AI files, in fact Impromptu Races doesn't use any AI file.
