Detroit Become Human Quantic Dream's next game for PS4

Recommended Posts

Sanches

Just watched a playthrough. Gotta say that this game looks great. Even tho it's a interactive movie, it still feels great, the unusual plot, VAs and amazing graphics. A really great change from battle royale sh1t.

Connor's plot route was the most interesting thing to watch.

Their strange 3rd person controls don’ t really allow you to see directly in front of you, so when you are looking for something, you are not actually looking through your characters eyes at all, you have to look at the peripheral vision to find your way... very annoying. Also without spoiling it, the game may tell you to do something which is against your better judgement and then penalise you for obeying..

Something that I think is really cool despite being a minor detail is Chloe's comments at the menu.

Spoiler

I freaked out when she said my save was corrupted lol.

I'm most of the way through now. This game feels so realistic how it portrays the near future like something that could happen.

Double post.

Just finished my first playthrough. Loved every second. A true masterpiece IMO.

Major ending spoilers. Don't click below if you don't want anything spoiled.

Spoiler

It was my intention to try and let Kara, Connor and Markus all live, but I f*cked up in Crossroads and got Alice and Kara killed so I chose the demonstration and done the nobel thing and sacrificed Markus, but everyone from Jericho died.

I've alway loved Quantic Dreams' games, but this one is pure narrative artistry to me. Most other games make me feel like choices are there for the sake of it, but this one made me think of every decision I made like no other.

I'll be playing through again for sure.

What's the cinamon roll meme going on in this game?

Just finished the game, damm this was great. I already liked Heavy rain and beyond two souls but it's clear their stories were flawed and a bit messy. Beyond two souls was overall worse than Heavy Rain for me because of how linear it was in comparison. Barely any consequences and different paths until the ending..

This game is easily Quantic Dream's best game yet. The writing has improved a lot overall, the voice acting is amazing and best of all, the amount of choices and consequences is crazy. There are so many different route's you can take with each character and many different endings (often in the middle of the story if you don't pay attention).

My favourite was Connor, loved solving cases and his relationship with Hank was very well done. He seemed the most fleshed out. Markus and Kara were good as well, although I wish Markus story was better handled in the first half (first half was too slow, later on it got rushed)

Definitely my second favourite game this year!

Pretty good game but I found Heavy Rain a better game based on when it was released. Beyond was horrible though. Connor(and hank)  is my favorite but didn't like Marcus Story very much.

Yeah Connor was easily the best, could have easily carried the game himself. Heavy Rain was good for it's time but it hasn't aged well in many ways (voice acting, lots of plot holes etc.). This has way more choices and consequences too

Beyond: Two Souls was only lacking in choices IMO. It got a lot of flack on release for the disjointed story, but that was mostly fixed with the remix mode on the PS4 remaster.

If I had to rank them it would be...

1) Heavy Rain.

2) Detroit: Become Human.

3) Beyond: Two Souls.

I would include Fahrenheit somewhere too, but truthfully I never finished it so it seems a bit unfair to rank.

Nah beyond was a disaster IMO. not just choices. But the entire story and characters were gross and weird to me.

Yeah. It was definitely one of those "love it or hate it" type games, but back to Detroit.

My favourite protagonist is Kara. It's been a few months since I finished it, but I enjoyed her mother-esque dynamic with Alice.

I’d rank it probably

Detroit > Heavy Rain > Beyond

That’s probably cause Detroit is the only one that doesn’t have moments that make me want to bang my head against the wall XD. Still, I enjoyed Detroit, lot more than I thought I would

Hopefully I'll find the time to play this in the future, already at a pretty low price so by the time I pick it up it should be dirt cheap.

Loved Heavy Rain despite the flaws, didn't like Beyond, just couldn't get into it at all. Didn't care for the characters and hated the story, and probably only enjoyed 3 or 4 chapters of that game.

The game is awesome but I'm annoyed I essentially ruined it for myself by getting the Platinum trophy. It requires multiple playthroughs and it kind of removed that special experience I had playing through it. It's actually one of the games that made me realise that sometimes doing a 100% isn't worth it. Having your own experience with your own choices to remember is great.

If there's anyone thinking of doing it, I wouldn't recommend it. Although a second playthrough is fine. I think a third is overkill and kills some of the magic of the game.

How exactly do you get the platinum trophy? There are about 100 endings to this game, so highly doubt you have to get all endings in order to get it. Do you have to complete everything on the flowchart or something?

Well, I think the very first playthrough will always be the best experience, because it's your first time playing. You don't know what to expect, and you really think about what choices you should make. I've already done three playthroughs. Well, kinda.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS:

On my first playthrough, I got Luther, Kara, and Alice killed. Luther's death was caused by me choosing to defend Alice when playing dead outside Jericho, which lead to Luther sacrificing himself for them. When he was on the floor on the verge of dying, he says to Alice "You're the most extraordinary person I've ever met. I was just a machine. You made me part of a family." I teared up. I'm not normally like this, either. As for Kara and Alice, I chose to give the tickets back and stupid me stayed too long in the area, which lead to the guards checking me and executing me. Markus and Connor, on the other hand, had good endings. Markus lead a successful protest and Connor number 2 eventually supported him in the end (I chose to remain a machine earlier on, which lead to original Connor being killed by Markus).

On my second playthrough, I decided to replay from the Crossroads chapter to revive Kara, Alice, and Luther and try to get them to survive this time round. I'm not sure if you would consider this a second playthrough, though, seeing as I chose to replay from that chapter, which is not far from the ending of the game. On this run, I decided to go violent with Markus and deviated with Connor when confronting Markus. I lost North and Josh because of this (Simon was already dead, as Connor killed him on the Stratford Tower rooftop). With Kara and Alice, I chose to keep the tickets, but because I went violent with Markus, I had to sacrifice Jerry. Luther, Kara, and Alice managed to make it to Canada, and it was a happy ending for all three of them.

Now, on my third playthrough, I decided to start from the very beginning, making mostly different choices throughout the game. I chose to surrender with Kara and Alice at Jericho, which lead to them being taken to the God awful recycling center. I wanted them to go there so I could get Markus to save them, but later on, I find out that in order for that to happen, Markus needs to be violent, and I had already went peaceful with Markus. Luther ended up sacrificing himself for Kara and Alice, and they escaped.

By the way, the soundtrack to this game is absolutely phenomenal.

Meant to write in this topic when I finally got around to finishing it a couple of weeks ago. Spoilers ahead, obviously.

I really enjoyed the game in general, a million miles better than Beyond Two Souls, which I didn't enjoy and couldn't even manage a second playthrough of.

Markus was the one character who I'd say I cared the least about throughout the game, I found myself more invested in the other characters stories. Despite this I managed to keep him alive. Originally I did everything aggressively with him, but quickly noticed the public opinion was horrible when I did that. Figured I needed to be peaceful to get them on my side and for the humans instead to be seen as the bad guys, and it worked with a final peaceful protest.

Ironically the one character I went out of my way to make sure nothing happened to them died, and that was Alice. I read after I finished that crossing the border by boat is basically a death sentence, so it seems like no matter what I did in that situation it was going to end badly. Luther also died during this scene. I chose to let Kara live. A little disappointed I didn't get to see a small scene of whatever she went on to do, unless I wasn't paying attention during the credits.

The big mistake I made during this whole sequence was choosing to go the long and safer route, despite the time limit saying I didn't have enough time. I thought the game would allow some leeway there, but I thought wrong.

Connor turned rogue and helped Markus, and survived just fine along with Hank. I found the relationship between Connor and Hank easy to maintain despite me pissing him off no matter what I said at the start. I was worried I would mess up the final scene with them and the impostor but thankfully everything went smoothly.

Overall I enjoyed playing with Connor the most. I'm a sucker for anything remotely detective, so that played into what I love. I'll probably replay the game at some point when enough time has passed, just to see how wildly different things can go.

One thing I wanted to know because I haven't searched for it, was if you can kill off Kara, Markus or Connor permanently way ahead of time or if they have to be alive in order for the story to progress.

You can actually get Kara and Alice to live on the boat route, but it's a bit difficult. Luther, sadly, will always die on the boat, no matter what.

There is a rare and unique ending with Kamski that you can only get if Kara, Alice, and Markus die and Connor fails his mission and gets deactivated by CyberLife. If Kara and Alice die early on in the game, the game will progress without them. I'm not sure how it goes on without Markus, though. Connor, on the other hand, will always come back if he dies, unless you get him killed after deviating, in which case game over.

Welp. I chose accelerate during the boat scene and knew it was the wrong choice as soon as I pressed it. Guess I should have defaulted to 'protect Alice', as that always seemed to work earlier in the story.

Good to know characters like Kara and Alice can actually die early, I thought the developers wouldn't allow it. Markus basically ends up being the most important character and is completely integral to the whole story, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's not possible for him to die early on.

You have to do a Connor playthrough for the Platinum trophy, and it definitely messed with my emotions a little bit. Especially the relationship with Hank. This is one of the only games where I felt like it evoked a genuine true emotion from me. The characters just felt so real.

Yeah, accelerate is not the best option. If you choose to protect Alice, Kara will get shot, which will guarantee her death. The best option is to plunge behind the boat; that will increase Kara and Alice's chance of survival, or at least ensure it. Luther, again, will still die, though.

You can actually get them killed super early on in the game in the chapter Stormy Night. If you choose not to move all the way through, or fail most or all the quicktime events, Todd will eventually kill Alice and Kara, which means their story ends there.

You can get him killed in the freedom march where you free all the androids, then get asked to disperse by the SWAT Team. If you choose to sacrifice Markus, and you don't have Simon or John by your side (they will help you), he will get shot dead by the SWAT Team. North, Josh, and the other Androids are forced to flee.
