Things GTA III and San Andreas had in common, but not GTA Vice City

Hi everyone, I thought it would be interesting to do a list about this. Here's what I could think of:

-Dodo
-similar Banshees
-black and white police cars
-AK-47
-Claude and Catalina
-Salvatore and Maria
-the Leone family
-K-Jah radio station
-Lazlow and Fernando Martinez on the chat station
-hostile gangs from the beginning of the game

-Triads as a street gang
-explorable Liberty City
-casinos
-dams

-trains!

What else? (Don't list things only Vice City has, like "neither has Tommy Vercetti")

I can come up with more similarities between VC and SA. For now, besides what you listed, the Forellis

The Forellis have an important role in VC's storyline too though, especially Sonny Forelli.

Similarities between SA and VC would be too obvious, since GTA 3 lacks many features like helicopters and bikes. Maybe this wasn't such a good topic either, I couldn't really think of anything new other than tunnels and abandoned railway tracks.

Both are inferior to VC. That's something they have in common.:p

Cranes?

Talking about interactive ones in both since VC didn't feature an interactive crane, if I am correct.

I knew you'd say that. :p

Both have a Black and White Enforcer.

Just some random things:

-Mountains

-Soldiers using M4 during 6-star wanted level

-Corrupt cop with Polish surname

-Chasing the main antagonist during the final mission

-Collapsed wooden bridge

-A gang wearing purple clothes

-A mission, in which the player must drive a Manana through the city while chased by a gang

Both III and SA have some extensive Road Tunnels.

-taking place in fictive states (VC was set in Florida)

-ZIP clothing stores, GASH takes its place in Vice City

-the protagonist sits in a police car in the first cutscenes

-the first storyline safehouse has a garage

-delivering vehicles on a freight ship

-street gang members with AK's

-churches

Could be wrong about the 3rd one

-The Protagonist works for a pimp in the storyline (And also kills a rival pimp).

-Final mission requires the player to go to a different location after the mission is started.

-The main antagonist doesn't get shot to death by the protagonist when they die.

-Claude and CJ formerly worked for the Leone's while Tommy worked for the Forelli's.

You don't need to shoot the antagonist to death in VC, you can also use explosives :p. But you can't kill the main antagonist directly and face to face in III and SA.

Nah nah nah Gta 6

-Crap auto aim

-Casinos

-Countryside

-Weapon icons have 2 colours and look basic.

-Both games lack Machetes, Hammers, Meat Cleavers, MP5's, Rugers, M60's, and Remote Grenades (Satchet Charges are different).

That's what I pretty much meant but vice versa, I meant that you don't have the option to shoot the 3 and SA main antagonist to death.

Unless you count shooting the helicopter Catalina was in being shot with a rocket launcher

I'm too lazy to edit that post.

Yep. You don't have to option to drive over the main antagonist in 3 and SA either. :D

There is actually a MP5 in San Andreas, only it isn't called that for legal reasons. It's actually a MP5A3 and it's my favorite weapon of SA besides the pistol :)

Ah, forgot about that, mainly because I always refer to the SA one as an SMG and the VC one as a MP5, dunno why I do it :p

  • 3 years later...
  • Three major islands. The difference is that, while GTA III's islands belong to the same city, in San Andreas they're three cities on their own. There's the countryside and desert, I know, but even though they do take a fair space of the story, they still aren't exactly as relevant as Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas are.
  • Asian gangsters as allies. The Yakuza in GTA III and the Triads in San Andreas.
  • Forellis having a quite minor role compared to the Leones.

-You have allies in a Black gang until the end of the game

-You wipe out or can wipe out another Black gang

-You make direct confrontations against a Latino gang (whereas Tommy uses remote-controlled vehicles or acts as a sniper)

-You perform missions for a cop

-You visit Marco's bistro to kill a Forelli brother

-You do a lot of work for a criminal organization then lose any support from this organization after a treason

-You work for a mafia leader who's honest with you but you betray him for a selfish reason without suffering any retaliation

Claude and CJ both end up being Catalina's bitches whereas as Tommy wouldn't take a bar of her sh*t.

But looking at the bright side, at least Claude was the one who got to put a bullet into her head out of the first two. That's a point for him 😜.

You really tryna say gta vc had a better auto aim than gta sa? Anyways they both got starting garages.

-You can use the train to travel

-You have at least one plane-related mission that requires you to go to the airport

-You help an asian mafia prevent a black and a hispanic gang from expanding their drug traffic and you actively take part to the elimination of the latino gang's leader(s)

-You have 2 missions featuring the destruction of an enemy gang's asset in the eastern part of the map and one of these assets belongs to a hispanic gang

-A Black man gives you a missions set then betrays you and the game leaves a lot of clues about the upcoming treason

-You play your first mission with at least one Black man among your allies who remains alive at the end of the game

-The final mission features a high-speed chase.

-One of your missions givers provides you a safehouse for free during the storyline

-You gain access to the second part of the map right after a treason

GTA III is atleast on the same level as Vice City (So I take that part back), but San Andreas is still inferior either way.😛

Here's one: Neither GTA III or SA ever felt like an expansion pack that turned to a full game.

All three games are just as good to me, there are separate threads for discussing your favorite and least favorite games. :)
