The weapon pickup hunt

This is how it should have been from the start, particularly for more powerful weapons. You want them, you gotta find them first.

THIS

If pretty much all explosives, both snipers, and the automatic shotguns were pickups like in GTA:IV's online but everything else saved, this would be such an ideal multiplayer game

Same thing with certain cars; the stupid Armored Kuruma definitely could've been V's Sultan RS of Online for example

so in real life when you have something it disappears?

you stupid children gta v is suppose to be more realistic not trash like gta iv

If you want to bring reality into it, please tell me how you can carry around all of those weapons in real life? Or re-spawn when you die?

I've updated the list with the new info, there are 4 locations for the molotov cocktail - so maybe there are 4 x locations for each of the 50 weapons (=200)?
I haven't seen anyone posting a location for any of the heavy weapons yet, so I am not sure the RPG/Mini-Gun/Grenade Launcher are available...
Melee:
Baseball Bat (YES) LS University
Knife (YES) Under Del Perro Pier
Nightstick
Crowbar (YES) Sawmill
Golf Club (YES) ALREADY AVAILABLE AT GOLF COURSE
Hammer
Broken Bottle
Antique Cavelry Dagger (YES) Disused mine, keep left and it's at a fork by a set of truck wheels where the body was found in SP
Hatchet
Knuckledusters
Handguns:
Pistol
Combat Pistol (YES) Lower levels of Land Act Dam + Pacific Standard Bank 2nd flour in the office
AP Pistol
SNS Pistol
Heavy Pistol
Vintage Pistol
Flare Gun
Marksman Pistol
Submachine Guns:
Micro SMG (YES) Cape Catfish house porch + Devin Weston Hanger + Altruist Camp + Observatory
SMG
Assault SMG
Combat PDW
Shotguns:
Pump Shotgun (YES) Sandy Shores Airfield + Country Club + Outside house between Wind Farm and Prision
Sawned-Off Shotgun
Assault Shotgun
Bullpup Shortgun
Musket
Heavy Shortgun
Assault Rifles
Assault Rifle (YES) At the boathouse southeast of El Gordo Lighthouse
Carbine Rifle
Advanced Rifle
Special Carbie
Bullpup Rifle
Light Machine Guns:
MG
Combat MG
Gussenberg Sweeper
Sniper Rifles:

Grenade Launcher
Minigun
Firework Launcher
Homing Launcher
Thrown:
Grenade (YES) El Burro Heights top of tower
Tear Gas (YES) LSPD garage + Paleto Bay outside Ammunation under green tent
Molotov Cocktail (YES) Paleto Bay in the park area at the top of the map + Grapeseed outside a hut near the pier + Eclipse Boulevard alleyway
Sticky Bomb (YES) Mt. Gordo Satellite Station + Quarry + Land Act Dam
Proximity Mine (YES) Merryweather docks control room
Miscellaneous:
Jerry Can (YES) ALREADY AT GAS STATIONS

Updated with Sticky Bomb location (Land Act Dam) which is in the exact same location as the Combat Pistol...

Maybe the weapons spawn randomly at the same locations, I will have a look again later tonight...

I had no luck at all the rest of the evening, checked all the list in public lobby/private nil spawns.

Really not sure how this is working but I think I'm done with this at least until we either know they spawn all the time or that

it's a random spawn, as it stands this isn't helpful at all.

When I read about this originally I expected these to be available all the time at a location not what appears to be happening

right now.

^^ So based on what we know below, I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how useful these really are to anyone:

1) Their spawns are random/erratic

2) It's just one weapon per location

3) Some take a bit of effort to retrieve (top of tower, etc.) or distance from most people's apartments

4) No "special" weapons like the Gusenberg Sweeper, Fireworks Launcher, etc.

So unless you have a useful weapon spawn nearby where you live, who is honestly going to travel to these locations just to avoid paying for ammo, especially considering it may not be there when you arrive?

IMO the only people that really stand to benefit from this are people who haven't unlocked that (eventually purchasable) weapon yet.

But again, don't get me wrong--I love the basic idea of hidden, random things in the map (sense of mystery and discovery if nothing else); it's just the implementation I'm questioning at this point.

Now, if R* were to add more rare weapons (for those of us latecomers to previous limited-time DLC parties) like the Gusenberg Sweeper to the spawns, I'd be spending a good chunk of my free roam time looking for it. :)

BTW: Jerry Cans already at gas stations? How am I missing these? I rob gas stations probably five times every gaming night?

I expect an award or reward to be added at some point for collecting them all. Maybe a "Where's Wally" t-shirt or tattoo, or something similar.

I'm wondering if these spawns are level locked as well I literally tried one spawn for over 20 sessions and got nothing however I tried a combat pistol spawn and it was there the next session (This was all done with a level 15 character and hardly anything unlocked)

Yeah, near the pumps there is always one at the gas station near Grove Street - I think they spawn at the others also...

I don't know if this was found already, sorry if it was, but I found a weapon in the shack on the island where you need to get Avi from in the Heist setup of Signal. I don't remember what it was.

The Lone Wanderer

Can I spawn a combat mg, heavy sniper rpg and minigun?

If I can't then these are completely pointless as everyone has an assault rifle from level one?

Actually even the rpg is pointless

Seriously if anyone knows please share as I'm levelling up my sixth and final character and they would help

I noticed that most bugs that appear in the updates happen a few days after the update comes out.

yup like old cars not being able to enter lsc. f*cking annoying.

has anyone seen the quote from the loading screen describing these new weapon laying around?

I took a screenshot and will post it if I remember to. But it didn't really indicate that these were needed to be collected for any reason, just said they could come in handy in a pinch or something like that.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday:

Snip:

That is laughable. "The additional firepower may help you sneak a last minute win during one of the freemode events"

We are already carrying an arsenal big and powerful enough to strike fear into the greatest armies. Who's going to think "I can win this sniper headshots challenge! But I need to get that sniper rifle up on top of that tower in Blaine County first"?

Just a gimmic then, or for noobs who don't have 'basic' weapons?

You can get more powerful weapons from doing a survival, or even a gang-attack probably (depending on your level! :santa:

As far as I know the survival weapons only last the session.

Well there are still plenty of newcomers who are just starting the game.

I have a lvl 22 character with only 3 weapons. I will collect one or two weapon pickups and see if they really stay in your inventory, or unlock at Ammunation. Haven't seen a clear answer on this in all 9 pages.

anyone knows if we can keep this weapons after restaring the game?

You do but I lost the ones I picked up after a modder killed me with explosion of death, and they never showed up in the AMU shoip either :(.

Stupid question, but you don't get to keep them, right? Once you log off/switch sessions, they're gone from your inventory, no?

I still have my crowbar that I picked up from the Sawmill ages ago. So... from the looks of it, they are completely permanent and you 'own' that weapon once you pick them up.

that's just one example though

i realy dont know , i switch between sessions with the shotgun and it was still in my inventory, but then i join a session when some dude with mods was random killing and remove all weapons from players, so i lost it all, when i exit the session all my weapons was there except the shotgun
