10th Anniversary edition to Original Xbox mod

*Checked the modification rules, there was nothing stated about console modding. also asked on the support board and got no replys.*

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Disclaimer: I will not be distributing any copyrighted files (Iso's or whatever) and anyone asking for said files will will be reported to the moderators and dealt with.

 

of course, that said. I may post the modified files on here for those who "Legally" own III/VC on xbox and have a means to FTP the files on to said xbox.

This is a mod that ports the 10th Anniversary (Mobile) Assets to both GTA III and Vice City on the Original Xbox. which includes textures (if they differ from the Xbox versions) and numerous other stuff aswell as things that did not originally appear in the game but fit the atmosphere (like assets from VCS ported into VC)...

I may also do PC versions for each aswell as San Andreas.

 

 

 

GTA III Anniversary Edition for Xbox

Progress

  • replaced opening intro screen with Mobile intro screen.
  • replaced in game load screen with Mobile splash1 image
  • replaced vibrant weapon icons with the faded gold mobile equivalents in hud.txd
  • Replaced textures in particle.txd with mobile equivalents.
  • Replaced textures in MISC.txd with Mobile Versions.
  • replaced III Double Cleff FM with LCS Double Cleff FM (to test audio replacements)
To Do
  • Find out if ped or vehicle textures need replacing (Xbox textures are nice)
  • Replace Minimap with mobile.

GTA VC Anniversary Edition for Xbox

Progress

  • replaced opening intro screen with mobile 10th anniversary artwork
  • replaced menu map with mobile map (xbox menu map stored in Userinterface.txd)
  • replaced default vice city weapon icons and textures with Mobile ones.
  • Replaced textures in particle.txd with mobile equivalents.
  • Replaced hud icons with the HD icons from yojo2 (will replace with mobile versions)
  • replaced K-Chat/VCFL with Synthwave FM (Made by DatMuzik)
  • replaced K-Chat's GXT entries with Synthwave FM
  • replaced K-Chat's Radio Icon with Icon made by Funky RJ for Synthwave FM
  • Replaced Vice City logo in start menu with 10th Anniversary Logo (Top Right)
To Do
  • Replace some weapons with VCS weapons (Tec-9 to Silenced Mac, etc)
  • Figure out why Vice City does not like the Mobile Font. :/

  • replaced default radar with mobile radar
  • replaced default hud icons with mobile hud icons
  • replaced radio icons with mobile radio icons
  • Replaced CJ's head textures in Player.img with HQ Mobile head textures from Player_hi.img.
  • Replaced menu pictures with mobile menu pictures.
  • replaced User Track GXT string with Mixtape string
  • replaced cracked window & car scrape textures with HQ ones from mobile
To Do
  • Replace pistol/Micro uzi/tec9 with beta weapons
  • add in the 3 new gangs (Seville Blvd, San Fierro Flats, Little Saigon Boyz)
  • Convince Ash to let me release his updated Xbox icons im using <3

This is great, man! Just GREAT! :)

Huge respect for your console modding attempts, I like your work very much.

 

Unfortunately PS2 and Xbox (+Xbox 360, PS3) modding is unpopular on gtaF boards due to the popularity of PC modding. PC edition is easier then the console one, so many modders don't matter of supporting consoles and most GTA soft programmers are not interested in console research. My tools support GTA IV PS3&Xbox360 (texture edition) and GTA Stories PSP&PS2 (also texture and some data edition), but I never worked with Xbox original. Glad to see results of something else.

 

Keep your work, good luck in future progress.

thanks, console modding is a whole different beast entirely so I can see how it dissuades others from pursuing it. Luckily this isn't my first time working with different console formats for games (ive done a fair bit of Dreamcast audio modding for different fighting games aswell as extracted audio from different PS2 games, also did a few PSP audio mods. most notably Midnight Club 3 & LA Remix). but the Xbox in general is one of ther harder consoles to mod due to its proprietary formats that have little to no documentation.

 

but hopefully with patience and perseverance I can push through and release a finished product :D

Are you using Xbox original for tests, or Xbox 360 with enabled Xbox-compatibility mode?

original xbox, trying to keep it as close to the original hardware as possible so that I know exactly what the limits are when I hit them, because the 360 is a more powerful console than an ordinary xbox so the mods I do for that might not work on an original xbox due to higher ram/memory usage.

 

besides, im too broke to buy a 360 atm :p

maybe a few of em could be changed. realistically possibly just the options image.

 

sorry for not updating this. Kinda been fiddling around with a PS2 and official PS2 HDD that I got for around $30

wanted to bump this to say that I have converted Synthwave FM to Vice City Xbox and it plays flawlessly (Replaces VCFL/K-Chat)

 

 

 

once I get an icon for it and make a few minor changes, I will post a link to V2 of the mod :p (V1 was released on Assembler games as a test version)

i dont think its too hard to fix. just gotta load the icons in photoshop and move them a few spaces to the right.

 

then I gotta figure out where the color for the ammo is located in the script (if its there) and change away.

 

Version 2 is now uploaded. I will be posting a link here for anyone who has an xbox and Vice City in the Closet/Garage and feels like playing it once again :p

 

Changelog

 

 

 

- Replaced VCFL with a Fanmade Radio Station called "Synthwave FM" [including GXT entries]

- Fixed "Vice City" flashing logo texture remnant in pause menu (Noticable in video I posted)

- Replaced VCFL Logo with Logo made by FunkyRJ for Synthwave FM

- Modified XBE using Hex Workshop

* Name is now "GTA Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition"

* Made a special XBX logo for this mod that shows up on dashboard

- Now using VC Mobile Hud Ring instead of yojo2's Hud Ring

- Other small tweaks that I forgot about lol

 

 

anyway still debating about whether I should replace the old menu icons or not

no idea, I never worked on a version for PC "Yet". although maybe one day I could... Ive been kinda gettin migrated over from the GTA Modding scene to the console game modding scene so you might have to wait a while.
