I know absolutely nothing about the real life version and I don't care either.

There goes your problem. GTA vehicles (and ESPECIALLY the aircraft's) are based on their real-life version. It would literally out of place to add a plane that can't fly upside-down, only to make it fly upside-down all normal in-game.

It's just a game, chill...

 

The game will be won by the Besra. There are people who really like the fighter planes but don't like all the griefing from armed vehicles, so the Besra seems to fit the bill here.

 

My personal fave on this list is the crop Duster. It's so bad it hardly manages to take off before the end of the runway, and that's the beauty of it, plus the smoke trail you can make. And it's two-seater as well :)

You know, after looking back at the previous winners, I would say that popularity has less of an influence than one might think. Here are the winners of the previous elimination games:

 

Massacro

Stinger GT

F620

Stratum

Sabre Turbo

Granger

Hexer

Rhapsody

Sandking XL

Surfer

Turismo R

Buzzard

Agent 14

 

A lot of the vehicles (or character, in Agent 14's case) on this list actually range from moderately popular to very popular, so they aren't the most obscure things out there. I would say the most "hipster" winners would have to be the Stratum and Surfer, but then again, one could make the argument that sedans and vans aren't popular classes in general and something had to win. Even though there are people among the GTA Online community who really do hate what's popular and consider themselves hipsters, now I think a lot of times the word "hipster" has been thrown around in these games is because their favorite vehicle didn't win.

Agreed, I think there's a lot of truth in what you say. There were some surprise results but of course there would be.

massacro, sabre turbo, turismo r and buzzard are the only ones that are not hipster

the rest pretty much is.

i cant recall propperly when the last time was i have seen someone else having any of those other vehicles.....atleast months ago

i mean, maybe on next gen with those modded vehicle spawns the sandking might be populair and it also was at the start of gtao, but i see fewer and fewer of them in garages

I find it funny that the plane on the lead is a one-seater combat jet (without guns, however). Seems like there aren't any commercial pilots out there, just Top Guns.

 

At the start I thought the winner would be the Vestra (best agility, speed, acceleration and takeoff of 2 seaters) or even the Velum (good agility, fairly durable, 5 seats), but once again these games prove me wrong.

Just Top Guns who voted out the only 2 lethal Jets in the game.

First I was thinking of downvoting Vestra cause I don't know what kind of plane it is, Then I looked it up and thought "What a cute little plane, Have a upvote".

Then I realised I'm stupid and should just downvote Luxor instead and upvote Mallard.

or since Luxor looks better then Shamal, I'll downvote Shamal.

Also I own it and enjoy it but compared to the other planes still left it has less redeemable qualities to me.
