Speaking of Oblivion, I got it yesterday. I put everything on ultra high and put bloom and 8x AA, still got 30-60 FPS. I have this on 360, but the PC version is so much prettier.

elanman, if you have the time (the game take forever to finish lol) and money get Drakensang, you won't be disappointed. It has all the features of a classic RPG and an Indiana Jones feeling to the game.

I've got a 1GB 4850 in here, so I think I'm good. I think I need the newest patch for this game, because I've already gotten the BSOD a few times. Besides those, it runs perfectly fine on all maxed out... I guess it's a bit unstable without the patch?

You must absolutely patch it, but it shouldn't give you any BSODs.

A press release issued by EA, APB's recently announced publisher, indicates that the game will only be released for PC. The release window was also announced as early 2010.

 

 

APB is a "new breed of online game" where players assume the roles of either enforcers or criminals in a persistent city environment. Be sure to check out the E3 2009 trailer which showed the first in-game footage for APB.

 

Nice. MMOs have no chances on consoles.

AFAIK, APB developer Realtime Worlds has not stated that it is PC exclusive, but rather that it will focus on the PC version and may migrate to 360 later on.

 

Which is still awesome of course.

@warlord, I agree with you, but console makers wouldn't. They wouldn't like to see the difference between a full PC version and a striped down version made to barely run on consoles. A good example of such a "bad" port was Mafia. That game was made for PC and PC gamers. When they cut down on everything to make it run on PS2, the game lost most of it's appeal.

 

This is why I'm waiting for Crysis to come out on consoles, we'll share loads of laughs while comparing the two versions.

I just ordered Far Cry 2 and Left 4 Dead on Amazon. I have them on 360, but I want to have them without lag and in their full graphical glory on my PC.

Well, in America at least, we give it to people as a gift most of the time so they can buy what they want with it. It's the lazy man's present.

Anyway, is there significantly less lag on the PC version? Xbox Live seems to go into convulsions whenever I play L4D on my 360.

Less lag on PC? But of course, (depending on your hardware) things are going to run smoothly. Of course, with GFWL games expect problems as it seems many experience difficulties with GFWL titles. Be it F3 or GTAIV. Anyway, a good start is probably to dl and manually install the latest GWFL update (if you haven't already).

@manofpeace, You're using that i7 PC you bought recently right? You'll be able to max L4D out with that thing man, no lag at all.

 

That's not even considered a serious question when you have an i7 .

lol, my PC can max anything Source has to offer and still it goes above 100FPS.

My FPS fluctuates a lot in Resistance and Liberation (HL2 mod), it goes anywhere between 9-120 FPS. I'll get incredibly low FPS, say fifteen or so, for a few seconds even when there's nothing going on around. Demanding game.

 

My average is roughly 50-75, so I'm not complaining.

 

Do you guys have any idea if there are plans on putting L4D on sale? I've been meaning to wait for the second one, but I want to play now, and I'm a cheap bastard. Ya, I won't fork out 30 euro for an awesome game. ARGH, I want another free Friday.

Try looking on game.co.uk or base.com, every week they have clearances, I know L4D was there a few weeks ago, I think they were selling it for less then 20£. Especially base, they sometimes have laughably low prices, like crysis for 8£.

 

What OS are you using? I often got dips like that o Vista, but 7 is running the same games with any issues.

Thanks for the tip. I'm running Vista 64, but don't want to try 7, I'll probably fudge up. I'll manage, I just use the computer for watching DVDs, games and Internet.

I kind of caved in to the frustration and just went back to FRAPS so I could record my latest video. I'll be showing Crysis running at maximum settings at 1680x1050 on my PC. I kind of forgot some settings in FRAPS and it was capped at 30 FPS, so expect a slightly choppy video. Just realize I get much smoother gameplay without FRAPS at all anyway.

Hehehe, it looks kind of bad to me. Maybe I should set the game resolution to 1280x720 so it can be played at the highest resolution Youtube allows and run a bit better?

I mean that it stutters a bit at times. if I keep it capped that low, it usually dips into the teens. I have to keep it high so that if there are any dropped frames, it won't be quite as noticeable.

 

Well, here it is. Watch it in HD, you won't regret that, I'm sure.

I've been thinking, how awesome would it be if you get a PC with the fastest available components and the best stereo 3D glasses and the best noise cancelling headphones there are and the OCZ NIA (Neural Impulse Actuator).

 

You'll be able to max out games and so, the great graphics combined with the stereo 3D glasses and headphones will immerse you into the game completely. It would be like virtual reality. Along with the NIA, it would be pure awesomeness.

 

Imagine playing IV like this !
