I decided to buy a USB controller today. Fortunately it was a USB PS3 air cooled controller. I used the PS3 driver software and it works like a charm in GTA VC and SA. Anyone know a program to get it to work with Fallout 3?

Does it work in GTA IV? It probably won't work in any game that looks for an xbox controller.

Try some of these links if you haven't already here and here.

GTA IV doesn't work with my sh*t for nothing laptop. But I will give Xpadder a try. Thanks.

If Fallout 3 is working on it, then it's no that sh*tty, is it? A lot of people wrongly rule out their hardware as weak only because it can't run GTAIV properly.

Well, it will play Fallout 3, but I'm playing on the lowest settings possible, in windowed mode, and get like 15 FPS tounge.gif You are right though, I just call it sh*t because it's a low running dual core processor mixed with a lonesome 8200M and 2 GB's of ram with vista. It's not built for games, especially ones like Fallout 3, GRID, or heaven forbid GTA IV. Maybe because I am used to all you bastards with quad core processors and 6 GB's or RAM and a fancy GTX 280.

I nearly maxed out GTA IV with a Core 2 Duo E8300 and 9600GT, the game has really bad programming, its more luck of the draw as to if you can max it or not.

f*ckin' a.

New Vegas

Oh, look, desert, not ugly grey city.

Obsidian Entertainment was founded in 2003 by several former employees of Black Isle Studios, the company responsible for the original Fallout titles.

Maybe this time it'll actually be a Fallout game!

I have high hopes for this.

HOLY f*ck!!! Another Fallout...IN 2010?! ZOMFG!!!!!!!!

This is HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE. I'd love to see these guys' version. I'm sure it'll be way more darker than Fallout 3. And Neverwinter Nights was kickass too, so I'm really expecting a lot from them. My biggest fear is that it'll get cancelled when the game is 99% finished and never get released, just like what happened to the real Fallout 3 (Fallout:Van Buren).

PLEASE GOD, PLEASE DON'T MAKE THEM CANCEL IT!

Well, if the manage to make it less Oblivion like, IMO that would be one small step for mankind, but a giant leap for Fallout series.

Also, allow me to add that I finished playing Portal this weekend and it was actually one of the best endings that I faced in gaming up to now. That ending song was just what I needed lol. Definitively worth of replaying the game only to hear it again.

Well, it's going to be on the consoles, too, so they may stick to the Oblivion format.

Are you serious! Fallout 3 was one of the best games I have ever played, if anything I'm nervous how Obsidian will handle this one. If it's a turn based attack system I will be supremely dissapointed.

Fallout 3 is a great game, but it wasn't really Fallout. Lots of Fallout veterans were really disappointed with Fallout 3. It just didn't have that Fallout feel.

Anyway, this doesn't mean it's going to have only turn based combat. How am I so sure? Because the actual Fallout 3 (made by Black Isle before it broke up) before it was cancelled had both a turn based (like VATS) and real time combat system.

I think I'm what you'd call a Fallout Veteran - I've played and completed the first 3 games - and yes, Fallout 3 didn't have that much of a Fallout feel to it. It felt like a different series somewhat. But nonetheless it was a great game.

As for the turn-based/real time strategy talk - I think if they do decide to incorporate Turn-Based, they'll also include Real Time.

I hated the turn-based in FO1/2. But after getting used to it, it can be more advantageous than realtime.

They saw that a lot of people were sick and tired of Turn-Based in FO1 and 2, so they listened, and in Tactics they gave you both to choose from.

I, for one, want it to be more Fallout. Not Bethesda-Oblivion-Port Fallout, but FALLOUT fallout.

and one for good luck - FALLOUT

Haha, yeah. The gameplay I admit did immediately feel like Oblivion, but I got over it straight away.

I mean as in, it wasn't Fallout so much in regard to relevance to the original games.

I saw the game on PS3 and it was my first impression. Maybe like you said you get over that feeling, but one Oblivion is more then enough for me. Don't get me wrong, the game is OK, but I don't intend to play it again.

All the game has, is an easily-forgettable Oblivion-ey feel to it.

But besides that...it's anything BUT Oblivion. As much as I loved Oblivion, Fallout 3 takes the cake. By far.

I played a PS3 at my friend's house today and yesterday, helped him get it online. It hurt. The blurry visuals, the horrendous controls,

the restrictions...Makes me glad to be a PC Gamer.

On another note, has anyone else played Cryostatis?

You already did with that Xclio PSU. tounge.gif

Anyone here got a HD4850x2? I might be getting one thats damaged, few traces and an IC broken, I think, it should be repairable, but I may need high-res pics of some bits of it to replace some stuff on it, if I do fix it though.. AU$40 HD4850x2 FTW.

On a side note, I just got to 3.908Ghz on my Phenom II x3 720, very fast CPU this is.

Because Xclio isn't really that big a name for performance PSUs.

Anyway, Cryostasis seems AWESOME. And I seem to like anything Russian or from pre-Soviet countries, so I'm sure I'll love this.

Will try and get it today.

Oh and the game should run fine on you guys' PCs, it really isn't that hard to run.

Yeah I love the game, low FPS ain't a problem since it's a slow paced game, and it has SM 4.0 support!Though I stopped playing it as the complete un-predictability of when a zombie-ish thing is going to jump out.Once I was in a room and it was all quiet.I wondered what this huge pile of snow was but I was like meh.I walked next to it and a zombie jumped out, it was midnight when I played it.

Good game.

Lol, what do I need a high performance PSU for? I'm not going to shell out an extra $50-100 just for bragging rights. Besides, the Xclio works like a charm.

You want to be one of the cool kids or what? tounge2.gif

Seriously, I don't believe in expensive PSU's, but I do trust some of the brands (like Codegen) and that crap never died on me. On other hand, PSU's like A-open, A-data, A-what-the-f*ck-ever are just not to be trusted IMO. Never heard of that xclio brand, but if I saw it in the store I wouldn't get it and would just go for a Codegen again. I used a few of them myself and have installed like a dozen of them on various PC's and not one of them gave up on me.

Well...

True that. Ive had several technically "nameless" PSUs die. Never had problems with known brands like Codegen though.

Corsair, PC Power and Cooling, Seasonic, OCZ, Antec and (some) coolermaster PSUs are the only ones worth buying, anything else may be cheap, but I can almost guarantee it won't do its rated wattage cleanly, if it gets to that wattage without killing what was attached to it.

I've got two 400w Codegens, one died at less than 300w, the other one got to 400w cleanly and is powering an old rig of mine, they're alright, but I wouldn't trust it with anything worth over $750.

Broken Steel for Fallout 3 tomorrow, I can't wait! And I'm pre-ordering Sims 3 when my next youth allowance comes in, I'll get the collectors edition for that 2Gb USB stick. tounge.gif

Can any of you lovely folks reccommend me a cheapish (<£60) wireless router that you know definitely works with Steam and has a decent wireless range? For the past year or so I've been stuck with a Netgear WGR614v9, which isn't a bad router, but it's pretty notorious for not working with Steam, as soon as it gets hit with the connections from server lists it just craps itself and dies; I've tried everything and through some nosying around forums I've come to the conclusion that it's a problem with the router which hasn't and can't be fixed. So I'm in need of a new router, any suggestions would be absolutely grand, I have little knowledge about routers.

(Not sure if this is entirely the right place, but hey, it's to do with PC gaming and is filled with people who know things.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that setup is $550 tops.

@ joe: Newegg had plenty of 5 star reviews on it . . . and it has a 2 year warranty.

You are wrong (as it will turn out, very wrong) and I shell correct you.

At the time I bought it, on 28. August 2008, the total value was 8674,00 KN. The KN to $ ratio back then was about 4,9 so that means 8674,00/4,90 = 1770,20 $ US. This is with the monitor and taxes included. If we subtract the value of the monitor which was 1699,00 KN (346,73 $) we come to a grand total of 1423,47 $. Mind you, the original CPU I bought was a Q9300 which at the time went for 1670,00 KN (340,80 $) and that one was replaced by a more expensive Q9400 (I can't remember the exact price, it was done inside the guarantee, but it was something like 50 $).

So, not only that your are wrong, but you have also made a mistake of above 250%. Next time think BEFORE you post, K?

There are many with 5 year warrantys and I've seen plenty of newegg reviews about stuff that was being used completely wrong, etc.

In other words, I trust eBay less than a Shopkeeper trying to get me to buy something.
